  1. @midlifecrisis, it for sure improved it but it still is not perfect. It is way less often that it fades out, but it does still happen from time to time. So I think it was worth the effort.
  2. I have used on mine this system since 2013. Run on fake a lake till up to temp. Drain oil. Change oil and fuel filter. Fill new fuel filter/water separator up 1/3 full or more with 2 stroke injection oil. Add new engine oil. Start engine again on fake a lake. Let run for a min or so. Till you know new fuel/oil mixture is running through it. Shut off. Pull all of the drain plugs. Rod each hole out to verify it's not plugged. Re-install all drain plugs. Pull 4 upper water hoses. Start at lowest and fill with rv antifreeze till it over flows, re-attach, move on to the next lowest, till all 4 are full and re-attached. Wipe down engine with WD40 or similar to prevent corrosion. Unplug battery. Have moment of silence. And walk away.
  3. I have switched to the stainless plugs from harden marine. HUGE improvement and you will never break a POS blue merc plug again.
  4. Check the actual fuel pressure. If it is low it will not trigger the injectors. More than just depressing the shrader type valve on the rail, put a gauge on it.
  5. So far so good. Re installed and then skied this evening. So far so good, but it was not very humid at all. I sprayed it on, recoated after about 15 min, and then left it out in the sun to dry. Seemed to dry very fast. Hope this works.
  6. Well I opened up the gauge and sprayed the board today. Will install tonight or to borrow and let you know the results. Mine has the chrome bezel. Perfect pass told me I had to cut it off but I was able to bend the bevel part for about 1/3 the bezel and then slide it off.
  7. I honestly really hope it takes off. We need more small companies to offer lower priced boats to challenge the "big 3" as keeps getting mentioned. These new boat prices are crazy!
  8. I have not opened up the gauge yet. It is in winter storage till the spring. I do plan to do it when I bring it back home. Will for sure update you all on it when I do. And @wtrskier197 that is exactly how mine is as well.
  9. I may try this stuff as well. Found in another forum to open it up and apply this to the electronics. Waterproofer for electrical strip boards.
  10. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008O9YGQI/ref=pd_aw_sim_328_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2454PWD15DZDGCQJBW76&dpPl=1&dpID=81o9-yY8qeL
  11. @Chef23 I read someplace about a guy opening his up and then sealing it some how. But can't seem to find that now. And another place that said that perfect pass has a little fix for it but the guy there that I talked to didn't seen to wanna say or didn't know. Always been a huge fan of them, great customer service usually, but this all shocked me. Mine is a 2006, so not like it should be some way out dated device. Especially with so many people going to ZO I would have expected more from PP.
  12. If anyone is upgrading from pro 6.5ng to stargazer with the new update please let me know. I may be interested in your gauge/display. Mine is starting to fade more and more often, and perfect pass, who admit that display was junk, say they stopped making the upgraded replacement and for the low cost of about $750 I could get a new display and stargazer. ONLY option I was told. Not cool.
  13. So on my perfect pass pro 6.5ng I am starting to more and more have issues with the screen fading out on it. I have been told its VERY common on this generation of screen and perfect pass agreed that it is/was a very known issue. Now here is the biggest problem. Perfect pass says they used to make an upgraded replacement gauge, but stop a year or so ago, and now my ONLY option is to UPGRADE for low cost of just under 800 cause they ONLY make stargazer based stuff now? Anyone have any tips for making my current gauge work better. It is caused by humidity, so only have issues in the early AM sets or when its just damp out in general. An hour in the sun and its good to go. Also, everything still works, its just the display goes away. Thanks in advance, Zach J
  14. I was on mine today and mine runs at 175deg. But I also have the black scorpion. So that's why I thought you seemed cold.
  15. @CoolSkiGuy What engine do you have? 150 seems cold off the top of my head? If you got alarms you are best off finding someone with diacom and start there. How old are the plug wires? Depending on engine could be vapor lock.
  16. I second the "run it in RPM mode" comment. My perfect pass never seemed to be to reliable in the mph mode, but since I switched (4 years ago) to rpm mode I have just about ZERO issues.
  17. once they get a little bigger these work AMAZING! Otherwise while my girls were TINY we just used some really nice neopreme vests. It may go without say, but I do see a lot and warn a lot of people about, DO NOT leave your kid strapped into the car seat while in the boat! I assume that car seat will sink like a rock if, God forbid, the boat crashes or it just ends up overboard. Hope this helps.
  18. Its easy for me to say "yes for sure grow the sport!" from the outside looking in. I ski public water only. There is one course about an hr from my house, otherwise a ski friend has a portable, but %95 of the time we just free ski about 3-4 days a week. I would love to be able to get involved with a local private site (there are a couple in my area) but they seem to be VERY private! But once again, its easy for me to say "I would let anyone that had a passion to ski come to my site if I had one!" being that I do NOT. And I don't think ski boat mfg companies want the sport to grow. It seems they get more expensive every year. How does a guy convince his wife that a small, less space, less family friendly direct drive is the best bet when now the (also crazy priced) wake boats with HUGE family space is about the same price? It seems if a boat doesn't cost enough it must not be a good one. And yes I am a GEKKO owner and love my "cheap" boat! Watersports in general are not cheap, but if they keep headed in this direction only the ELITE will be doing any of them.

  20. I for sure fill with marine antifreeze after draining the block with all the blue merc plugs. Also, after changing oil and filter you need to run it one more time to get NEW oil through the whole system, so do it before you drain and fill the block. ALSO, for fogging, seen as you are replacing the spin on fuel filter as well, I fill it half way up with 2 stroke EFI oil. This way when you fire it up for the last time it pumps new oil though the engine, and oil/gas mixture through the whole fuel system. Works great and starts easy every early spring.
  21. use a pair of those surgical pliers. Like the clamping ones that most fishermen would have in a tackle box. may be able to get a grip farther down on it. And if it end up being just a tiny bit of soft plastic tube left in there, I may take my chances just letting the velvet drive eat it. But that's just me...
  22. And I feel your pain with not much season left here in SE WI. But the end of ski season starts the beginning of JEEP building season!
  23. I would verify if you even have a MAT or IAT sensor before putting to much thought into the -40 reading. -40 will read if there is NO sensor supplied by the manufacturer as well. Did you try clearing the codes and see if they come back up? You can save your current data before you clear it all. Maybe it was just bad gas and now that you filled up with 91 it is gone? Does this engine have individual coils? Maybe ohm them all out and see if one is way off from the rest.
  24. Well zero off is listed as an option on gekkos home page as well? I could not see how Mark could make boats that can not even use todays top/only tournament speed control.
  25. Play with the trim on the boat without a skier behind it. Different speeds and trim levels will make a better/flatter wake. Really commit to your wake crossings. Ski THROUGH the wakes, not over them. What ski are you riding? A wide trainer/beginner ski will never slice though the wakes. I grew up skiing behind fishing boats of my dads. First was a row boat with a maybe 9hp on it, then a 25hp 14', then upgraded to a BIG 40hp 16'! I learned ALOT of BAD techniques back then and it took along time to un learn all that bad form, but I didn't have people, or a forum like this, to teach me different. Watch you tube videos and ski a lot. And stay OFF the tail of the ski, no matter how much it seems like a good idea, you paid for a WHOLE ski, so use the whole thing! Good luck.
