  1. While core training might be the best way to ski but it is not the only way. Many skiers ski the 28 off just like you differing only in technique. Let the boat go further thru the gates before you roll on edge at the first wake, immediately come up onto the opposite edge and counter with a strong pre turn edge change AND learn how how to coordinate a reliable extension producing the desired turn and hook up with the boat.
  2. JJR, Give serious thought and a trial to Foggman boots. Been using them successfully since Terence produced the first ones (about 20 yrs now) and have not suffered any injuries. The one weakness with this system in my opinion is a direct straightaway strike to a buoy and that event will hurt you; have done that but did not break anything but the boot itself. I might come close to such poor judgement in a tournament but never in practice.
  3. I have over ten years of use on my Fogman set up and some wear has occurred in the mentioned areas, however, not loose sufficient to pre-release for that reason. A comfortable hardshell fit is the way to go.
  4. Adjustment screws are produced with what appears to be shaped like a volcano and the circular edge will, indeed, destroy the original flat upper edge of your fin. Such destruction leaves a roughness which prohibits easy tail adjustments. Avoid this by grinding down the volcanos using a nut to maintain a square end of the adjusting screw. If done properly a true square end of the adjusting screw will move the fin evenly and without ragging the fin edge.
  5. I'm a bit outdated, however, I do recall two different manufacturers produced a slalom ski with identical numbers except for the tail. L = 6.872 - D= 2.449 - T = .690 I think the Fischer had a .688 tail and the other ski was a Goode. Don't know if any others skis out there come close to the Fischer and Goode back in the day but would not be surprised to learn there are more than just a few.
  6. Can someone tell me the difference between a standard caliper and Goode's next generation asa well as the cost of this device ? plubius
