  1. no, that is not true. During that time you could get wake or ski hull.
  2. Yes, double boots do take getting used to. I did it and I will not go back. Double Vapors are a great and easy setup. I have them and love them. Like Chef said, don't overtighten the top bungee. That is tempting and not hard to do, but negatively impacts release characteristics.
  3. I didn't want to hijack the other thread about a wall of gear, so I started a new one. I'm looking for ideas regarding how to display old ski gear at the lake house. Looking for ideas for something simple, but decent looking, but also still reasonably priced. I'm handy, so I'm imagining building something myself. Just looking for ideas and examples of what others have done. BTW, this would be skis. Some with bindings, some without.
  4. Size and straight/bent is totally personal preference. But Brenda's merchandise is top notch. Get the crossbar.
  5. I have an orange Strada (I think that means it is a 2013) arriving later this week. What are the fin and binding numbers for a 69.5 inch?
  6. I have herniations of L4-L5 and L5-S1. I have been incredibly lucky to have great PT and I religiously stretch my back in the morning and before strenuous activities. No surgeries. Only cortizone injections 10+ years ago. My back is better now than 15 years ago. It does limit me to one set in the morning and one in the evening (on weekends). If I try two sets in a session, my back is very unhappy and lets me know. I have never used a PowerVest, but did try support belt type things a long time ago. I believe they have minimal impact on the strain (don't really protect that much). Much more protection done with stretching, ab work, and doing right things while skiing (most importantly, not doing wrong things). I also believe that there can be different answers for different people. You have to do what works for you. The best advice ever (from the surgeon who helped me avoid surgery) : Stop when your back tells you. If you don't listen and push too hard, it'll take you down.
  7. Awesome boat. If I had $9K, that'd be on its way to my driveway. :)
  8. ...and if you don't maintain it.......you may have a reason to buy a new one....... >:) >:)

The best advice given on this thread was : do not buy a boat without skiing behind it first. Try a few and buy the one you like. Lots of kool aid consumed here, no matter which boat maker you talk about. The only thing that matters is that the guy paying for the boat likes it. :)
  10. My daughter's vest had a couple of issue too. I sent it back during the off season and they fixed it right up. No further problems. Give them a chance and they'll make it right.
  11. Try Vapor/Strada bindings size 13/14. They're the best bindings I have found. My feet are similar to yours and I felt the same way about the Vector when I tried it.
  12. I'm totally back after ACL/MCL reconstruction. Several years ago, there was a guy at INT Nationals who was in his 50s or 60s who had both knees replaced and he was a wakeboarder doing inverts. A guy in my ski club had partial knee replacement last fall and never missed a single set. He was ready to go 100% this spring.
  13. Hey, guys, especially Joel, I just wanted to celebrate getting in the 28off club and encourage others in the midst of the same struggle. Joel posted at the beginning of the year that he was going to try to learn 28 at 28 since 22 didn't seem to be helping him get 28. I had to do the same thing since I couldn't stop myself from repeating the same mistakes at 22 that I was making at 15. I have a good pulling position (mostly), so I could run 15 and 22 with this bad habit. 28 would not let me do it. It has taken a while, but I have run a couple of 28s without doing any kamikaze diving at/around the buoys. So, the purpose of this post is to tell the others taking the unusual road to keep the faith and it can happen. Good luck, guys.
