  1. Great event, I really enjoyed watching the coverage. A huge kudos to TWBC, it seems they up their game every time they cover an event.
  2. Hoping my son will start skiing in early to mid April (just riding the trick ski until the water gets into the upper 50's). Midwest Jr dev down at Picos in early June, Wisconsin Jr dev in mid June and hopefully have a pro out to our site again in July. Hit 3-5 tournaments and end the year at Regionals in Wilmington. Looking to first and foremost stay healthy, slalom into -35, Trick over 2,500 and Jump 110'+.
  3. We are going to get new skins for our 196 this winter to redo the whole interior. Our carpet has seen better days so we would like to refresh the flooring as well. I do not think we want to do Seadek, Decadence is an interesting option. Has anyone found any other options? Any down side to going with Decadence?
  4. Our courses came out last weekend. The jump is still in the water waiting for a calmer day to pull it out. Had our first frost Monday morning...
  5. I was super excited to hear that Joel got a deal with a boat manufacturer, it couldn't happen to a nicer, more talented guy. I am curious what if anything that means for the Matt / Joel training setup. Also, I thought I had heard in the past that some boat manufacturers don't like it when their skiers set records behind other brands of boats. Does Joel need to purposely try not to set a record at the Worlds?
  6. @Horton, I see, it is OK for the ruling class but not us commoners.... lol
  7. If someone is going to truly develop an app for waterskiing please make it work with a gimble. Modern gimbles have the ability to track a person or object, keeping that selected item in focus, in the middle of the screen and eliminating any camera shake. The current limitations (with my DJI) are only allowing for the 1x lens on iphone, need to manually select the focus object each time recording it stopped and no speed based recording. To me, the ultimate solution is to have a gimble mounted to a skidoc. The ski doc will keep the phone generally in line with the skier then the gimble can move to keep the skier centered with higher zoom and eliminate any camera shake. It would be great if you could select the skier as the focus object prior to the start of their set and then have speed based recording. I may be dreaming, but this seems possible and would result in high quality footage that could be used for in-depth video coaching.
  8. This is our go to for most days. Large and fairly light. Can easily keep 4-5 people in the shade and gives you a place to hang gear to dry https://www.costco.com/coleman-13-x-13-eaved-shelter.product.100737323.html We also have one of these for days where it is cooler or if rain / wind if expected. It works great but is much bigger and on hot days does not breathe the way the open side one does. https://www.amazon.com/Quick-Set-9281-Portable-Protection/dp/B00E3LF7FK/ref=asc_df_B00E3LF7FK/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=194884170462&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1870626799156465910&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9021457&hvtargid=pla-310770789560&psc=1
  9. @Jody_Seal The gang at Stillwater and Ski Wisconsin are doing an amazing job bringing kids into the sport and tournaments. Being just a few miles over the boarder we (are very lucky to) have been adopted by the Wisconsin crew and just completed a a 2 day Jr clinic with a number of new faces. With a number of these families being new to the tournament world I think @Horton's point of putting less of a financial and time strain is even more important to further engage these new families.
  10. interesting concept having cable, ski/wakeboard and surfing (think Kelly Slater’s site) all in the same community. https://unofficialnetworks.com/2023/06/20/southern-utah-surfing-lake/?fbclid=PAAaaK_lfJPliu3SCuTpH6vazj1U9dFlo6HQBVf2mUooF1eQ1pONrtaACcu34_aem_th_AbIcrFm0W6GoLwSAYkzmKOpjO7BbEft8xFUzJDB-FFZttXInu_R4YhV7SAcc8LMSyIk
  11. You guys have me rethinking a floating course. One concern I have is with zebra muscles. We have had them so bad in our lake that they collect on the buoy lines during the winter and sink the line and sub buoy. We have taken to cleaning these every year to prevent this and could do the same with the course lines and the outside of the PVC, but what about them collecting on the inside of the PVC and making the course too heavy to float?
  12. Thanks for the suggestions. We are still skiing the course (dropped a new anchor where needed). I am hesitant to go with a floating course due to accuracy. I was always under the impression pipe bow and wind make these less than ideal? The idea of running cable across the lake is interesting but our width starts at just shy of 400' and goes up to over 900'. We would also have to put adjusters in peoples yards and we would be dealing with potential interference from our jump anchor lines.
  13. We are located about 50 miles north of Chicago on an old quarry. Our course (individually anchored) is about 20 years old and recently the I bolts in the concrete blocks have started to rust through setting the line and sub buoys free. The silt that has built up over the years makes it very difficult to see or locate the old anchors and siring up the silt ruins the water clarity in that area. We have resigned ourselves to the fact that the course will need to be completely redone and so long as we will be replacing the whole course, we would like to move the location, essentially starting from scratch. The idea of doing this ourselves is a bit daunting given other commitments. The depth of the area where the course will be is ~25-40' with portions of the lake bed being very flat and other having a more interesting topography. Initially our course was installed through the ice and fine tuned via diving in the spring. With the lake being spring fed good ice is not always assured so winter install may be questionable. Does anyone know of a company or person that does slalom course installs? We are happy to make anchors, assist in install and help with diving but would really like to have someone who really knows that they are doing and with more experience lead the way get it done vs us picking at it. I have already reached out to Jon and Zack with no luck. Any help is appreciated
  14. My son is a newly minted boys 4 skier. Being a level 8 skier he can fast track to assistant judge in all events and has done some buoy calling (and has done well) he still needs to learn the jump portion but he is in no way ready to judge trick even for kids at his level much less higher level trickers. Does anyone have any suggestions for him to learn how to judge trick?
