  1. yep same here as @aspski , our site froze today.... pulled our course/docks last Saturday. This freezeup is about 2-3 weeks earlier than normal. - bummed....
  2. mine are individually anchored, we just drove down the lake with the regular turning buoy on the other side of the boat, and dropped them in on the inside. So they end up a little more than the width of the boat narrow. Seems to work pretty well for our kids. Absolutely NOT super accurate.
  3. @Justin_C I do almost exactly the same thing. I used pulleys for a while but they do corrode as you mention. I found that a stainless steel o-ring in place of the pulley worked well for me (find them on sale sometimes). There is a little more friction than the pulley but i found they let the buoy slide enough. You might need just a little more weight and/or a little more air in the buoys. Anyway just thought I'd pass it along.
  4. just had a set - yes.... cold.... 34.9F (about 2C) and we skied in the rain (at least it wasn't snowing) (Brandon Manitoba Canada) September 25, 2018 around 6PM, Air was about 54F (12C) hehehe, is there a goal to this thread? Slalom course is still in - skiing again on Thursday - free rides welcome - come for a visit!
  5. summer of 2016 at the lake... nasty storm!
  6. if it was my boat she would definitely be my baby... so the options might be: "junior" "john junior" "JJ" -very easy to type and quick to say! but "she" is sure pretty Jane Junior?
  7. 2014 HO A3, 68” in very good condition (pretty much new condition). Used only about a dozen times. Front left Apex boot size 10-11 and rear toe plate. Comes with bag. would sell blank as well $800 obo, share shipping in Canada - ski is in Brandon Manitoba
  8. @skierjp And here I thought my Achilles scar was bad - you win.... Speedy recovery @Gloersen !
  9. not completely on topic but this towel was in our new at the time 1997 PS190. I'm feeling old by posting this but apparently (according to the survey) I fit right in with the site demographics  oh, and it is likely time for a boat upgrade!
  10. I'm 5 weeks post-op, full thickness rotator cuff tear. Physio is going good - plan to be back on the water in the Canadian spring - whenever that finally gets here. Skied all summer with the tear. Had one of my best summers ever (maybe not scores, but sure was fun!) good luck everyone with their surgeries and healing!
  11. @Greg Banish what is the version number of the new stick you got? pretty sure mine is at 9.1 or 9.01.... one of those. Just curious.
  12. I WAS a real skier - and then I found the slalom course.... haven't felt that way since  I think that was about 17 years ago. where is that thread about the slalom course making you humble???
  13. Hi all, I read a lot here, don't post very often, but here goes: After reading advice on here about how to improve, I have decided to try and improve a pass that I can run almost all the time, rather than shortening and missing and struggling with all kinds of bad habits and having my weaknesses exploited by the slalom course. so here are two clips, both at 34.2MPH, both at 15off. Tell me what you see! I have thick skin - so let me have it. for what it is worth, I'm 205lbs, 6' tall, and I'm riding a 2016 71" Lithium Senate. (I would love to hear what everyone thinks about this ski size after watching the vids) Although my intent is to get feedback on these passes, I run 22off most of the time, but I really struggle at 28off because I seem to ski straight at 1 ball. If I can get a good 1-ball at 28off, I might run it, but I just haven't spent a ton of time at 28 - just because I've been working to make 15 off smoother and smoother. pass #1 pass #2 P.S. love the site - keep it up @Horton
  14. great idea, i'll see about putting a list of stuff i have for sale together. I have a bunch of stuff that my wife would love for me to sell!
  15. anyone have any comments on how V9 is working for you? is the throttle response significantly improved? And what about times? Just debating the upgrade. Running 8.6 ( or whatever the latest was before 9.... can't remember actual version)
  16. i haven't personally tried it but there is some info at Skiertoskier link looks like it might work ok.
  17. I have started using "OK, in gear...and..... hit it" (like mentioned above) seems to work wonders for my sometimes "junior" boat crew. and if you are my 10 year old daughter this summer - "ok, prepare to be schooled!" - to which my ski buddy just replied "oh, the apple didn't fall far"... what a proud parenting moment
  18. alright, video time... (sure hope this is how to embed video) and a couple of observations/clarifications: When I said mini-course above - I didn't mean a mini-course with buoys 10' inside of the full course - I was actually driving down the side of the course, so the entire width would only be 33 feet (or whatever the math is). I should have been more clear - saying mini-course doesn't paint the correct picture. During the set, we talked about stacking and handle position after each pass. Pass 4 (maybe one of his better passes) is where he said to me "I was really trying to keep the handle lower". We have been talking about pulling through both wakes, he is rounding 1-2 sometimes, not every time. The rope is definitely in the water at times. A small point about the course - 5 ball (or 2 ball) is slightly submerged, and really difficult to see in the video (it is difficult to see skiing to). I need to adjust that thing. I posted 5 of his passes - the rest were terrible video by me..... We ski where there is approximately a 1mph current. And we are using PerfectPass in RPM mode because I didn't install a paddlewheel (perfectpass uses the paddlewheel below 40 km/h) So all speeds are ~23mph - I likely played with the speed from pass to pass a little is all i'm saying. I'm not fortunate enough to have a nice new ZO boat
  19. @WBLskier I have a 9 year old daughter too. She is super into it, running two skis, just starting to slalom a little. And all she wants to do is try and run buoys. I have my work cut out for me!
  20. thanks for the ideas everyone. Skied last night, kid did well, we ran some slow passes - 21 ish and 23 ish Mph and he had noticeable trouble navigating through the massive wake we had. But he did ok. He could get around a few here and there on the full course (at 15 off), I think he did 1-2 a couple of times, so he might have rounded 1-2, splash 3-4-5, around 6. (I'll have to check the video to see exactly). I think @Chef23 is describing where I'm at to a "T" in his first post. I shot some video (it is crappy) - but nevertheless - I'll endeavor to post it soon. my observations so far are likely this I should probably add rope? All his riding has been at 15off - And go full line - just haven't gotten around to it. We were mostly free skiing and in the mini course and just having fun so it didn't seem important a month ago. What do you all think? We talked lots about proper position and getting his hands closer to him and the handle low. Standing tall on his ski. Hips up, don't let your hips fall behind. My next plan is to just get out and do some free skiing at the lake and try and work on his balance and handle position. Likely back to town and hit the course again on Sunday. Have a good weekend all!
  21. you guys are awesome - keep the ideas coming - sounds like I'm going down the right path. Never thought of shortening in the mini course - or actually having a set of buoys that I move out. (and make a big deal about it) - those are great ideas. heading to ski now - my plan will be to run a couple of slow passes and catch some video!
  22. Hello all, I'm looking for advice on how to coach my 12 year old in the slalom course. (and from where we live - I'm likely the best coach he is going to get (sucks for him) His details: He is LLF, 108lbs, running on a Total Radar Awesomeness ski. Running the mini course with ease at 40km/h My details: I'm a hacker/slasher - get into 28off at 34 sometimes (ran 28 a couple). I read all kinds of things (long time lurker on BOS) and I'm always trying to get better. I just want MORE for him! My thought process for teaching him so far is this: stand balanced on the ski practice some wake crossing drills like Seth's video, initiating with the hips. practice some pull out type things Just looking for some solid simple advice on what to tell him next. I have him shadowing the full course but he loses a little interest because he just doesn't have success there yet. So, I need a way to show him progression without frustrating the heck out of him! I have lots of ideas - just looking for some feedback. And YES - maybe I need to get some video up somewhere......
