  1. 300 is nothing. Dude you gotta stop drinking beer or take advantage of overtime. Scrape up that cash dogg. Id sell you my elite if i could but i cant. All my money is tied up and as of right now none of the rtm skis on the market pique my interest. I really wish mapple would go back to to rtm. Good luck on upgrading. I was in your exact position last year using a loaner kd7000 and i took the plunge. So worth it. I just with i would have spend a few hundred more on a newer ski that wasnt as used. Buy once and be done with it. Do your homework too. Make sure what you buy is what youre happy with. Hurts like hell to blow your cash on something mediocre even if its better than what you had.
  2. Hey I've got animals and I'm really keen on these lighter boots. The apex is the supposed higher end boot but I like the idea of a toe-less book. How does toe vs toe-less compare? Do they release well? Answers appreciated.
  3. Nothing, get some rest. Pick up the weights 6 weeks before you're in the water.
  4. Hey there's a surfboard on craigslist that's hot right now at $100. Where I'm at now surfing really isn't possible and hauling the thing around is a pain, so either Im going to have a wall decoration or a something to wake surf on... SO the question is: Is wake surfing more practical on a full size surfboard, or is a smaller wake surfing board the way to go? * I'll be behind an outboard engine.

    Fair Request?

$1000 is a down payment not a deposit. $50 is too cheap. $100-200 seems right, after all you winterized it and put it away. Going through all that work is time, money and effort. One of you mentioned that they are even more undecided after they go for a ride on an unfamiliar boat. Although the word "empathy" wasn't said, it was implied. Not only are you parting with $7500, you're also taking on a headache if things go wrong. Just because I like the boat now in December doesn't mean I may like it later, and how can I be so sure that the boat wont have problems? Im sure boat is well maintained, but the fact is its 20 years old. What if the hull cracks? The interior is rotten? Engine problems? These are all things I've witnessed before on our family's boat. Losing $7500 is bad but being reminded of it every day is worse. I once bought a leather jacket for $300. I thought it was the style i liked. It looked ok and everything, but sure enough a week later I didnt like shinier leather, it felt a little small, and it wasnt EXACTLY what I wanted and sure enough I couldnt stand to look at it so I threw it away. Further, my family buys used cars and we've usually done very well, sure enough our confidence in our ability to buy and not looking hard at the car caused us to buy it. A week later no one liked driving the car, simply because we knew we'd been had. Generally I research the hell out of anything expensive I buy. If I haven't researched it then I'm just as shifty as these potential buyers, even after an anologous "test ride." I dont buy something unless I'm comfortable with buying it or am willing to deal with the financial repercussions if everything falls apart. When there was an Elite for sale last year for $350 I passed because the description was short. I figured, how can a ski thats normaly priced $900 be so cheap? Something must be wrong. Sure enough someone here said it was skidawgs old ski and could vouch for it. I lost out on my chance. Here's a tip from left field: Don't trade a boat for money. Trade your personalities in the process. Spend plenty of time conversing. Trade WHY you ski. Trade WHY you are selling this boat and trade WHY you bought it in the first place. Explain the why the wake is the shape it is. If its not up to snuff with modern boats big deal, its from 93, compare it to boats at the time. If this guy and his girl are skiing in the winter then the must be serious, or they just want a christmas pull. Make the guy comfortable with trading his money for your boat with you and that should iron out any indecision. Watch all of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5Tw0PGcyN0
  6. Between passes: tell my driver stories between sets: stretch lay in the sun get some munchies. Do a full court press on the local girl
  7. I dont like the wakeboarding dress style, or any boarding style either, them sideways, flat billed cap wearing mofos with the baggy shorts. Just me. Heck a lot of skiers wear their hats like that, and it bugs me. Is it generational warfare? yes. I'll admit it. but come on dude, the wakes a of a wakeboard boat are a hazard to other boats? Get out of here. Even the X-star couldnt tip a boat.
  8. I havent heard if this scandal until now. Maybe the guy was a little bored and though "hey i know how to do this and that, i wonder if i could..." big deal. The guy got caught. sounds like heas been outcasted by everyone. Thats too bad. Just dont let him set up a course and check hia rope before he gets into the water. Like you said there was no real money involved. Remeber that roahld dahl book Danny the champion of the world. They didnt need to poach 200 pheasants. Theres no way they could carry them. They did it just to see if they could do it. Forgive the guy and double check things. You know what? i did a study in college "are people in sports more likely to follow the rules and abide by the law?" the reasoning was yes since there were participating in activities with rules all the time. My results were inconclusive but after looking at a few surveys i had a hunch that people growing up playing sports broke the laws and rules if they were sure they wouldnt get caught and knew how. (running a red light when no one was around was the prime example.)Since they were used to being in sports with rules they were more likely to see the lines and when they could be crossed. Whos that guys who said slalom skiers tended to be more successful in life? i just mean to defend this doctor jim as him exercising his mechanical knowledge and exploiting a lack of regulation and his actions are on par with what everyone else has done at some point in their lives.
  9. I dont know much about wet suits but i will say THEY WORK! I went scuba diving near russia in january a few years ago and the water temp was about 35. Yes i froze but my appendages were quite exposed by poorly fitted boots and cheap gloves. When i got out i was violently shivering but i discovered that the wetsuit kept my body warm (though i didnt feel warm)and my frozen face feet and hands were telling me i was effed. Not sleeping the night before was a bad idea too as my body wasnt generating ANY heat. There may be ice on the lake by then. Youll get by with a thick wetsuit no problem especially since you wont be in the water long. Heck you could do it without a wetsuit. Have fun.
  10. Stressed that you have to run it at full speed instead of slower? Why? When I ran the course at 22off much better than I did at 15off and a slower speed I was ecstatic. It was the single best moment i had on the water in the last two years. I was feeling full of win, much better than when I ran it at 30 or 32 sloppily at 15 off a few weeks prior. Good luck out there.
  11. so now he's not doing a hollow core? Man, if there's one thing I've learned about this its to not get hyped and not assume that the greatest skier ever who has been designing skis for years can deliver me a ski until there is a ski in front of me. So are they taking it up another level, or are they deleveling? They took it to a new level here. Wow that gets more informational every time I watch it. Andy mapple explains every part of the ski, how it works and why its good as well as the manufactuging process. Although those HO vids are better presented this Elite video is by far the most informative. According to Chris Parrish its a different level; Adam Cord a whole nother level and Andy Mapple a whole new road. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_UuUISRpDU Im not sure what is happening or what happened at AM skis, all I know is that its been nearly a year and I still dont have a ski and few people do. They never really opened up. It seemed that they were more interested in levels, and roads and being recognized for that, instead of selling skis built from all their experience. Look, I was sold on the Elite since the first time I rode it and I was sold on this knowing the same people were behind it and they could test the ski nearby leading to a much faster product developement cycle. They never lost me as a consumer because I love their previous ski so much, they just failed to get my money.
  12. What was wrong with the hollow core? Why did Adam Cord leave? Where did he go? Was it RTM or not? why is it after all this time their website doesnt have any products? Why do Goode skis still dominate? Are they profiting from all those phone in orders that they're so busy with that they cant set up an online ordering form? They went independent to take things to another level. Is he going back to Radar to take things to another level again? Where's the level cap?
  13. Sorry jfw those book shelf L angles have no cosmetic value. DBski has teh design I was brainstorming, however wood clashes with the carbon fiber.
