  1. @JayShower didn’t see that, I hope there is an ongoing appeal in that case. Some of my ISU friends are sharing posts urging individuals to email recservices@iastate.edu and wolfe@iastate.edu expressing discontent with the ruling in an effort to overturn - as an update to my previous post about ongoing efforts.
  2. There will be efforts to reverse this decision and I hope that all BOS members will support them as they come. Let’s not accept defeat just yet. It would be really good if NCWSA/AWSA leadership started working with that team to lobby the school as well. Collegiate skiing is our sport at its best, but it wouldn’t take much for other schools to see ISU as an example so it’s important to support them. I know a few ISU alum, any efforts they bring into the action phase I’ll do my best to pass along.
  3. If I can’t use my Excel nerd sarcasm to harass @horton then what was the point of learning Excel?
  4. @Horton why does your randbetween exclude entry #1 and why does it have a 1/1192 chance of returning 1193 which was not a valid entry? Where you asking it to return a row number and your column of entries had a header which downshifted your data into rows 2-1193? Or was @thager the first entry and you just desperately didn’t want him to win?
  5. I think the real solution is @horton needs to make some friends so he can always have a video spotter and to put that lake off his to good use.
  6. Yeah, I have some gym stories that are hard to believe, good genetics and good training I guess. Gotta give credit to the old man for getting me into the gym. @adamhcaldwell I’m looking forward to getting back into my C85 soon with ice going out. I’m gonna start rocking my way deep 38 this season if I get my way!
  7. My Dad would ski 30 passes in a set, wait for you to get done, then ski 30 more. We didn’t spin at the ends but that guy was built different. I’m usually able to start a season with sets of 8-10 and build up to 12-16 by mid season. I’ll let @6balls quote his own numbers
  8. @Lars Minneapolis guy who just posted a boat for sale
  9. I’m just a webcast spectator… but in that line, start times?
  10. I think the webcasts have been great. In terms of getting non-skiers to watch… outside of the olympics when was the last time you live streamed gymnastics? Track and field? Archery? Almost no one watches niche sports unless they participate. The argument “no one can run 9.75” only goes so far with me. It’s not like 6 guys run 10.25 every event, at most it’s two and more often it’s one or none. The competition is happening at 10.25 not shorter. You’re making a change that impacts one skier per tournament. I’m not opposed to 12m openers for the men but I know some of them have suggested that it’s a tough sell only have one pass before 11.25 and I’d rather watch their 13s than watch them get injured.
  11. You don’t need a new world record every two years to have the sport be interesting. Right now we have the highest level of competition we’ve seen in the sport in a very long time. Nate, Will, and TGas frequently to or past 4, then huge bubbles at 2&3, it’s awesome to watch because the podium is literally anyone’s game where in past years it was fairly predictable. On the women’s side we have skiers running 39 and not being on the podium for the first time in history. Also every line you add in a 24 skier event is effectively 3 skiers in terms of time and we’ve seen a lot of events running short on that.
  12. Collegiate skiing, where your grades bottom out the first half of the semester and then you desperately try to save the in the second half for the fall. Then in the spring you build them up as high as you can before you allow them to tank when tournaments roll back around.
  13. Portapotties are unisex, non-issue at ski tournaments. Just don’t go into one that is occupied and lock the door while you’re in there
  14. Jeff DJ’d the collegiate regionals at PITS the last year that Iowa qualified in 2013 which was pretty awesome. Also just the general support he provides for collegiate skiing.
