Imo for most kids, who are oriented towards enjoying boating, water-sports, etc. at first it needs to be fun and somewhat easy. Some may just not like it. Good on you Horton.
-
I like it. Could be a good little ski business/hobby making and selling them to tourney organizers. Imo tourney PB is what local tourney skiers should strive for. It’s not until skiers reach the upper tier of the regional, national, collegiate and pro levels that other incentives come into play.

I kind of remember skiing with that hull and the wake at 32 mph at 15/22 off feeling something like skiing over a curb.

How are the man made ski sites around Saco doing water wise?

Beautiful

@cougfan where’re yesterday’s pics? They’ve become part of my Thursday morning reading ?

I highly recommend it. I was trying for months to understand the feeling of and being confident in being tall, keeping the torso facing down the coarse and letting the ski finish the turn on my toe side (gate turn, 2 and 4). Then while on vacation and free skiing on Lake St Catherine VT boom, it happened.

My gut is that as long as the virus recovery stays on track boat prices will be coming back down in the fall and next spring as people return to spending on other leisure and recreation activities again.

I always thought that Scott and others did a good job announcing at Berkeley’s Aquatic Park tourney’s back in the 90’s. The crowd’s cheering and participation was always good too.
-
Makes sense. Thanks @Luzz

I suggest that you look for and reach out to the ski club/tournament contacts in your area on the AWSA East website. Good chance someone in that group will be able to steer you.
https://www.awsaeast.org/ is a good place to look.
Not sure about Ohio, those club sites would be listed in the Midwest AWSA waterski website or on the tournament listing.

I also second joining the Train With Terry Winter website.

Wayne Grimditch was a pretty good one too.

I was looking at the pro tour site and the only EU stop listed is San Gervasio. I thought there were 3 or 4 EU stops. Maybe travel restrictions got in the way?

We always ran 89 octane in our 92 Prostar. Added one small bottle of STP in spring, mid summer and fall winterizing. Ran like a champ and used ~3 gallons an hour, a little less than 1 gallon for 6 passes at 34mph.

I wonder if @TonyLightfoot is recruiting any women for a seat the broadcast table? A Doris Burke of waterskiing,
-
Hands down Tony Lightfoot. He, along with Drew or Matt are waterskiing’s equivalent of Harry Kalas/Richie Ashburn (Phillies), Pat Summerall/John Madden (NFL CBS), and Phil Liggett/Bob Roll (Tour deFrance NBC).

Good move. Get it replaced with one that’s 100%.

I used to use a few squirts of Palmolive in water in a quart spray bottle. Always lubed and washed away well.

There are a few rear specific boots made, Tfactor, Leverage (softer) Animal, Venom (softer),Wiley’s (custom wrap available). I use dbl Cabitex and wear the rear boot slightly looser for a little wiggle room.
-
I saw a new Tfactor for the first time yesterday. Imo they are a really well designed and built boot and plate, one of the best.

The announcing was fantastic. I listened to the men’s second round while painting patio chairs. Imo it was as good as or better than other major sporting event broadcasts. Watched most of the women’s second round and of course the video work was awesome too.

Hiking the gorge and waterfalls in Ithaca is awesome too!

Hike the Glen! And look for the little family Italian restaurant in town, sooooo gooood! Was one of our favorite day trips during a week at Spencer’s in Owego.
DD wake vs sterndrive

Really depends on the boat, hull shape, weight, etc. When I first became addicted to course skiing I had a 16ft Glastron V-164. It had a 130hp Volvo IO. With two people in the boat there was a very small,
soft wake and virtually no spray at -15/22 from 32 - 36 mph. That said ~20 years or so later I skied behind a friends 16ft Bayliner IO with a 4.3lt 175 Mercruiser which had a curb like wake that was dangerous to ski through at 34mph. IMO for slalom go for a nice used DD ski boat from the early mid 90’s forward if possible.
