  1. Not disagreeing, although we’ve had several small outboard and one i/o boat prior to buying a ProStar. Each of them had small tournament level wakes, minimal spray and no rooster tail. Tracking and speed maintenance were certainly not on par with an inboard 3event boat. Imo the key is at minimum start with a boat hull designed for skiing which likely means a boat built between the 70’s and 90’s. Almost all of the newer ob and i/o hulls have a considerable V bottom that will never yield ideal ski wakes.
  2. Welcome! Lots of good skiing in NY State. There may be some skiers who train in Owego, about 15 to 20 minutes west of Binghamton. Not sure if any of them are on Ball of Spray. Also several tournament lakes in the state within 1 to 3 hours from B-town. May also be some skiers on the Susquehanna River and the Finger Lakes.
  3. Bump. Skiing with Mike in Shasta in 1994 changed the trajectory of my skiing life. First and foremost his knowledge, coaching style and hospitality were second to none. Knowing that I was living in Marin Co. at the time he steered me to contacts with the clubs at Aquatic Park. Returned the next spring with a friend who was free skier just discovering course and Mike got him completely stoked. I’ll never forget his story about when he got the first ever ‘rock’ reride, at a nationals warm up tourney at Spencer’s in Owego, New York. One of his competitors hurled a huge rock into the pond to throw rollers into the coarse as he was resting at the other end. All this on top of being an all time great, hall of famer who gave a lot more to the sporting world than he ever took.
  4. Looks good. Questions:

Is the toe flexible enough to mount the rear boot super close to the front heal?

Do they still use the custom intuition liner and insert?

Is the lower boot a plastic shell or some sort of Carbitex?

Any update to the Boa system?

    Is the upper bungee stretchy?

Is a stiff bungee available if using the Reflex release?

  5. I think in the East, the Regionals are most important for most skiers that attend. Nationals seems to be another level of commitment, in dedication to training, expenses and time (off/travel). In another thread I read that Bell Aqua is hosting the ‘22 Reg’s. My guess is that the attendance will be high in the West regardless of Nat’s.
  6. I started reading this thread yesterday as my family was preparing a video for a gathering last night in honor of our son who passed away one year ago this week. It was heartening to read these kind thoughts and loving memories of a person who meant so much to their community. Wishing the best for MB’s family and friends.
  7. Just my opinion. Don’t rush it. Ankles take time. Have a orthopedic doc check it out, and order physical therapy as needed. I tried to power through ankle injuries for a few years but struggled with nagging strains, sprains and a couple fractures until the doc set me up for therapy. I still work on the strengthening and flexibility exercises that the PT showed me.
  8. Ski a Tige 21i at a ski school a couple seasons in the mid 90’s. Skied with 92 and 97 Pro Stars at home. The Tige was a nice boat, wake is a little harder (more firm) than the pro stars, and slightly roomier than a PS205 but not by a lot. Not sure about wood in the floor/stringers?
