  1. @Phil good luck with the sale. I have many fond memories skiing and doing tournaments at that lake. Even skied with @Horton there years ago. Beautiful home and the lake skis awesome.
  2. In the videos, he looks very narrow for the gates. Far too much hip/handle separation resulting in flat ski and no angle. and "draggin arse" with shoulders forward will never generate speed. Appears to use the buoy as the point to begin turn resulting in getting farther and farther down course. Perhaps try the "lean drill" by putting rope on 28 or 32 and practice leaning drills on the side of the boat to get comfortable with a more solid leaning position. Work on getting as wide as possible before the buoy and initiating turn prior to the buoy. He might even try keeping both hands on the handle. Attached is a photo showing body position approaching wake from 4 to 5 ball. Not great, but notice shoulders, hip and handle position allowing for ski to be on edge and creating space to the next buoy. Use some time on the water working on fundamentals rather than getting frustrated chasing buoys Good luck and keep at it.

Would not sucking (actually educting) air into the prop potentially cause some cavitation?
  4. @buechsrFunny, I always thought of those who conformed to the mandate as the victims.
  5. @CharlieThreeThree As a result of choosing to be an underdog rather than a victim throughout my life, thanks to the bootstraps acquired, I don't think I could possibly be in a better situation. But thanks for your concern.
  6. Dang I love @The_MS!! And for clarification @buechsr, my Little league, Wild Cat baseball , competitive swimming , and recreational snow skiing was not government supported and certainly did not require oversight by some federal agency. Further, I raced bicycles in college and the entire program was self funded with ZERO tax payer dollars. And yes, we travelled and spent 3 weeks in Florida training. As far as a childhood obesity problem, you are suggesting the remedy is more involvement from a newly formed government agency??
  7. The responses validate the concern. Granted, I am more than likely older than the respondents (nearly 68) and my generation was far less conditioned to accept and questioned giving up "freedoms for security or comfort". From elementary school through college, I participated in several sports and never once was the topic of "equity" brought up nor the idea of central control in return for a tax break. Other than to have more centralized control over kids sports and to further advance specific policies, why is there a need for "a new office of sports and fitness in charge of coordinating and developing youth and grass roots sports"? Once the office is established, what other new policies will be implemented?? Further, in what economic world does it make sense offering funds from health savings accounts to be used for sports equipment and travel expenses? (mental health and exercise?? ) Sounds very much like "buying" the acceptance of more centralized control over youth sports. While I respect the opinions of others, my position on this proposal has not changed.
  8. little league.pdf When SS became a requirement for skiing, I was one of the many who quit competitive skiing. Stated that conformance was acceptance. Also warned about the lost art of drawing the line and that SS was only the beginning. Before reading the attached opinion piece from the Wall Street Journal, even I could not have envisioned the extent to which politicians would go in their efforts to control every aspect of our lives. Now I know. I take no joy in being correct in my prediction.
  9. @MDuffinI still snow ski, barefoot and rode bike and run, so as long as you stay in shape you should be fine. Good luck and have fun getting back on the water....nothing better than chasing buoys!
  10. @MDuffinNot exactly the same, but similar. I am right foot forward, but have a torn right ACL. Tore it back when I was in high school (in a chariot race for Latin club....yeah, alcohol was involved) Anyway, never repaired, but over the years had the torn ends trimmed as well as 2 surgeries to trim MMC tears. Currently 67 and have never had an issue. Use double rubber boots (D3 black out front and Wiley rear). When skiing my best a few years ago, got through 39 off, still skiing at 34 mph and get through 38 on a good day. For me, the issue of lateral instability is when the leg is straight. As long as the knee is bent slightly, the muscles seem to stabilize the knee. Best wishes for a rapid recovery and hope your outcome is similar to mine and you can get back on the water with no issues.
  11. @MastercrafterI too lifted weights and got back into road biking. In good cardio shape and strong like bull, but smart like cow. Nothing can prepare you for skiing, but skiing. I'm a hurting puppy too! But it's a good hurt.
  12. First set after 2 months off. Dang, does 34 mph feel fast!
  13. @skialex average high temp in February is 74 degrees and in March it is 78 degrees. Hope that is the case!
  14. It has been freaking cold and windy here in central Florida. I bought a dry suit for the cold, but it has been too windy for my course and Swiss is closed the month of January. Have not skied since mid-December. Warmer weather cannot come soon enough!
  15. Have to go against the consensus of the Elite. I loved that ski. Andy Mapple gave me one of his and that thing was awesome. Must have had his mojo.
  16. All good here. Never missed a beat. Thanks @Hortonfor all your efforts.
  17. There isn't a gator in Florida big enough to take on @mike_mapple!!!
  18. @Alvin_NeffI too still have my AM-33 and ALL of Andy's skis have been my favorites. Given the years, not sure the adhesive securing the top and bottom to the internal ribs would still be solid on the AM-33. I too would love to give it a rip, just not sure it would still hold up. If you do ski, let us know how it goes.
  19. Just read the ZO update for REV S. It states "redesign of plus mode for skiers who want a more responsive pull". "Provides a redesign of the plus setting which is more responsive and progressive." Guess if you like A2, but the boat is "soft", add plus "for a more responsive and progressive pull". (All this is predicated on REV S. )
  20. @HockdogI referenced this same graph as an attachment early in the thread. The question is "what are the A<B<C curves on plus (+) compared to without plus"? Similar but firmer, or entirely different?
  21. So once again, does my hypothesis still apply that with the + to A, you still get an "A" reaction to load only firmer and possibly a bit sooner? If the hypothesis is true, then if one likes an "A" pull but wants it firmer, then adding the + is better than changing letter which would "react to load" later or more differently when looking at the graphs. A graph comparing a regular and a plus curves would answer the question. Probably a bit too much mental masturbation, but I would like to know the real answer.
  22. Yep, the leading edge for each letter, regardless of number do line up. If the + moves the curve closer to the left (buoy) the graphs would still reflect A,B,C? Hence with +, a firmer A, B, C pull?
  23. Certainly agree the gate speed increases with the +. While "intensity" increases with +, no doubt, again, to me, an "A" setting, regardless of + or no plus, would respond like the graph indicates, but intensity changes...... unless the letter/number graph changes with +. That would clarify my understanding.
  24. Maybe I can learn something new here, but having just re-read the ZO manual, in the language of the manual, while saying "it is when" not "where" ZO reacts, it goes on to say the various settings come on "where". I recognize ZO will responds when there is load from the skier, but with the graph, it appears the load "comes on" later on setting "A" than Setting "C". To me, that describes "where". If a skier likes a "load" right off the buoy, "C' loads immediately. Conversely, "A" loads much later; based on the graphs. If I load the boat right off the buoy on "A", the pull is completely different than if I load the boat right off the buoy on "C". I have attached the 2 pages from the ZO manual for reference. Greatly appreciate additional insight on this. ZO PDF 2.pdf ZO PDF 4.pdf
