  1. I had no problems with the start. It was my back leg so not sure what to expect with them both but really not overly concerned. Let your body be your guide. Some days I was able to ski 3 sets other days only 1. It takes 1 full year to have your hip FULLY recover. I free skied for a few weeks prior to getting in the course. Should I have waited longer, yes, but I couldn't sit around any longer. In 2 months you will feel like your ready to go, but don't. Wait at least 6 months until you hit the water. That's why I just had my second one done now so I will can give it 71/2 to 8 months to heal.
  2. Mine is a Stryker implant. Porcelain ball with a plastic liner.
  3. I just had my second hip replaced last Tuesday. At home walking without any aid. No pain meds for eathier hip. A few things. Get in the best shape you can prior to surgery. I worked out as much as I could with a lot of core work. As soon as I could, I got back to the gym. Again heavy core workouts. My fist hip was done in February and I was back on the water in August. By the end of August in the course. I spoke to Lucky a few times about this and agree with his advise of getting your core very solid prior to skiing the course. I lost 15 lbs from the time I recoverd from the first surgery to skiing again. I just turned 48 and feel like I'm in the best shape I've been in for years. The only thing I will change for next season is my bindings. It is more important than ever to make sure both feet release. In think I will mount my boots on the Goode system. The concern is a dislocation with one foot out and the other in and the ski twisting. The better shape and stronger your legs & glutes and core the less chance of dislocation. I'm looking forward to what I hope to be a pain free ski season.
  4. Great job! Don't worry about the gates as you are learning. Some tips to help with rhythm. Set up 2 boats widths wide of ball 2,4,6 and cross in front of the gates. This should get you in good position for #1. I would suggest pass in front of 2,3 and 4 then go around 5&6. Work backwards adding balls. Go 1 5 and 6 . Get that easy go 1 4 5 6 and so on. This will help with your rhythm. Slow the boat down 1-2 mph will also help. Don't worry about the speed of the boat position on the ski and angles more important as you learn.
  5. I used to set mine up in Ct. Without a permit but was told by the state I needed a permit even if only a temp course. So 9 months and 60 pages of info along with a public hearing officially approved. The way I understand it is anything on a state owned water body needs approval. Good luck.
  6. I do it all the time. I have insta slalom which I think is great. Set up in 25 minutes is standard. You will run into longer times if you get some wind. The more you set it up quicker you will be. I would not use the anchor provided especially the first one you drop as slides. I got a small danforth and it works great. Matt you skied on mine with Jodi a few summers ago in Ct.
  7. I highly recommend Jodi Fisher. Great coach relaxed environment. If your working on something and making progress he will keep you on the water for some more passes , a lot of others will be 6 passes and done.
  8. What would you suggest if I do this to my turn balls which are full of air now? Totally deflate and start the process?
  9. Had my hip replaced Tuesday came home Thursday and walking with a cane. Much less pain than anticipated. My doc said it went real well and told me he kept in mind the activities I want to do (ski) and said should have no problems with it at all. He wants me to wait the full 6 months prior to hitting the water and I will listen to him. He Said it was real messed up and definitely needed it done. Glad I did it looking forward to late summer. Maybe I'll be able to stand on the ski the correct way now that I should be able to rotate a bit. I'm so glad I have a great wife and kids at home to help out!
  10. I had hip impingement and had it scoped. Had it done 4 hrs ago and that's about as long as they last. Wanted to have my other hip don but waited too long. Going in Tuesday to have it replaced. With what you have get it scoped right away because the results are much better than if you wait. I am going to a top doc and really trust him. Has anyone had a full replacement and back skiing the course? That's my goal.
