  1. what is the difference between the omni and the carbon omni? Obviously weight but what about drag, fun etc?
  2. You can update the puck yourself. I've done it but it is super fiddly, you'd have to be a geek to want to do it. PP puckks and Zero off dual pucks are exactly the same and both have the same problems. Since April 6th 2019, the pull has absoultely sucked for both zero off and PP if their pucks have not been updated to a version that fixes the GPS rollover bug. Zero off pucks use a different connector and you can update those a little easier (although it is still super fiddly the first time you have to set it up). PP pucks although identical have a connector that is missing a wire so you have to strip it back. If you're set up, you could probably pump them out in 10 minutes each or less. I've done a few and it would take me an hour to do it. Anyway, send the puck back to PP and get the software update. It will be a new boat!
  3. We lent our 2015 67" HO Womens CX to my wife's mum and she LOVED it. She has previously used an advanced course ski which hunted and was far to agressive for long line open water 26-28mph skiing. The CX has minimal drag, is forgiving, fun and cuts well in open water. If we coud buy the exact same ski, we would. What is the current equivelent? How does either the 2023 HO Carbon Omni Womens or 2023 HO Carbon Omega Max Womens compare to the 2015 CX?
  4. I love the story thank you! Zero off is tightly integrated with the engine ECU, I'd be super interested if you could reverse engineer it and make the head unit work with other ECUs but that seems unlikely. In addition to that, the zero off pull is dependent on the engine, prop and zero off calibration i.e. how zero off has been custom calibrated for all the variables. For example, i hear that certain boat/engine combinations suck with zero off even though that motor has plenty of power. So even if you could integrate with zero off, you still need a calibration that works for your motor/prop/hull combination. Perfect Pass works with many digital throttles. It works with Yamaha outboards plus a number of inboard engine brands. I'd be talking to them to find out what standard you need to communicate with. If you want to run your own EFI system in an old boat, then PP is going to match that well. It won't be _exactly_ the same as a new boat, but then it was never going to be anyway.

For non shortline I prefer the cipa extreme as everything is bigger in the view
  6. The is a bug in the software on your old antennas. After a certain date they perform Really poorly. Update the software on the and they perform like new. It’s fiddly if you haven’t done it before. Perfect pass use the exact same antennas and I’d recommend asking them if you can pay them to do the update for you. You can search here for more info.
  7. You’ll have to find the tach wire/get a harness that has it. On my etec I think I had to install two harnesses to get it. One was the digital iconmand and the other was for the analogue gauges. Hard to remember though because it was 2007!! I’ve don’t plenty of mercs including optis but all were earlier than 2015
  8. 3,500 hours already. @motoxr
  9. Saw a really high hour 2014-2020 5.7 prostar and wondered what the options are for motor refresh. New 5.7's are not available so what can be done? With the high levels of integration, can you still swap the motor out for a different type i.e can you buy a new 6.0 or 6.2 and drop it in? Is there a way of getting an aftermarket 5.7 long block and putting that in? What can you do?
  10. @AdamCordsoncool! If you went and did the same set back to back on the 75, the 85 and the 95 what is the difference in feeling, performance and outright capability?
  11. Find a nice used 200HO etec (or 225) and it would be amazing. I had a 3.1 Yamaha and it was ok but the etec is a whole different level. So much power, economy and quiet with no smoke.
  12. Airfares to and from USA/Australia are insane at the moment too
  13. How many hours did it have when it was hooked up recently?

When you update the puck to the latest firmware you can lose the puck settings. The trick is to save the old settings - there is a menu option to do that - and then update. Then restore the settings and done. There is no need to remove the puck from the boat, you just need a long enough cable. Lots of people don’t notice how bad the pull is with the old firmware but it is massively better with the updated firmware. All the firmware does is make it work like it did when it was new (it’s not better than zero off was when new it just works like it was designed to) I made my own cable. does anybody have a link to a cable you can buy commercially for this task? I didn’t record an instruction video but with a video it would be easy enough to step through. Without that it is a bit convoluted to figure out. perfect pass pucks are the same and run the same firmware but different settings. Pp pucks are fitted with a different plug and a wire needed for the update process is not connected to the plug so some wiring is needed to do that
  15. @Hortonfor a minute can we put price aside and compare again. My PB is 3@28 off at 36mph 20 years ago now I occasionally get close to running 34/22 or some 36/22. I ski on a 2014 prophecy and enjoy a fast ski. I was on the first f1 then the 08 and 12 prophecy’s. so if price as aside would I do better on a midrange ski like this KD or say a c85? Which would help me progress more. Would I ski better on this Kd than my prophecy?
