  1. 1 - Its great for the surveying function alone - seems like every year the ice moves a couple bouys and this is much easier then the total station.2 - For an experienced driver it helped in the beginning, you could get actual data on boat path - straight, in relation to picking up the skier / giving the skier a good pull. doesn't get used as much now..3 - For a not as experienced driver - its great to tell your spouse how they are driving without actually telling them how they are driving.4 - Reliability is so-so, most days it works great, but seems like it always needs: restarting, looses lock, or is just off (CL is off 5' on the box vs actual boat b/w the guides)5 - It can be a distraction sometimes drivers trying to get those 0's!
  2. If your throttle throw is too long, drill a new hole in the DBW potentiometer lever and move it down so the throw is shorter on the engine and shorter at the control.
  3. A machine shop may be able to fit the trim tab to your existing rudder. https://www.nautiqueparts.com/product/rudder-trim-tab/
  4. Do you think it will have settings like "Becky" or "Chad"??
  5. @IGski Did you find a course at Bull Shoals, headed there shortly. Anyone know of one at Norfork?
  6. The video looks like Fred skiing and Fred driving, is that what they did with the new Prostar?
  7. USAWS should provide a Young Alumni membership for college graduates on their first 1-2 years out of college at the same price as the collegiate membership. Give them a chance to get established in their job. They used to do this with season football tickets, you could buy season tickets for the year after you graduated for the same price as student season tickets, making that transition that much easier and keeping that participant engaged.
  8. In the boat with Freddie on Tues at TBS we hit 45 and climbing quickly headed back to the dock, they have the 6.2 though.
  9. Yes they are great boats, Great: slalom wake is very small and really really good, interior layout great with open bow and space, ski locker holds skis, and there is storage under the pass seat. Good: tracking is not as well as 196 but still good. The troughs in the wakes are slightly deeper than the 196. Do get some spray at shorter lines if you don't have the weight level in the boat. Overall -really this boat slalom wakes is up there with the best of them and is overlooked, this is the pre- Carbon Pro boat. It also has a nice compact windshield for skiing around the boat!
  10. It doesn't drive bad now just takes a pass or so to get used to, just doesn't have that constant pull we are used to.
  11. Thank you all for the great info and your previous experience its very helpful, we talked about adding the adjustable trim tab like @JC McCavit said, so I am glad to see it has been done and successfully worked. I will have a talk with the machine shop and if that's not viable I will look for a new one. Thanks again!
  12. Have a 196 without the adjustable rudder, it looks like the PO ground the right side significantly probably to make the rudder feel neutral (is pretty neutral rudder now). The MC/BU's grind the right side so this is ground on the wrong side to create pull. Should I grind the left side to add rudder or keep grinding the right so the boat has rudder (pull to one side)? The rudder didn't come like this from the factory right?
  13. This is easily converted to a lake activity, run down the dock, vault at the end, land in the water! Maybe this will draw more participants...
  14. Have had both, the prophecy is super fast, always edge hunting, rides a little more towards the tail of the ski and takes some getting used to but fast once you figure it out. The Vapor is more mellow of a ski, way easier to use and more forgiving. Same bouy count on both so both very capable skis, on RADAR now.
  15. I have acquired a pair of hopper waterskis (trick ski size) and they are made from a molded plastic instead of fiberglass. They are fun to ski on but drag way more then trick skis. Any ideas to make them have less drag? I tried sanding them but it didn't help much. Add a type of coating, paint, fiberglass, bondo?
  16. Little upset that counts towards the 6 issues they publish per year, one less seemingly growing smaller pure waterski magazine to enjoy.
  17. Looks like this guy is into wakeboarding now..
  18. 2 years in a row I looked like Chuck_Dickey, This year has been all about FUN!
  19. The removable tonno cover on the bow will soon be a new craze in water toys!
  20. Who said there was no way to haul both the boat and jet ski home from the lake???
  21. All you "shortline" skiers send me that 15' of rope you no longer need, one day and 352 ropes later I will have enough rope to ski a mile behind the boat!
  22. 1984 Bayliner for sale: $19,000 may not be that bad of a deal if its a YACHT! Other then that people will pay for the next big thing and it may be tough to find someone that appreciates a restoration.
