Same happened in Australia
The current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is unfortunately affecting many aspects of daily life and the broader water ski and wakeboard community. Our number one priority – and responsibility – is the health and safety of everyone involved with WAWA, including our athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers. WAWA is working closely with relevant health authorities to ensure we are informed and we are doing everything we can to keep our people safe.
You are probably aware that several international and national water ski and wakeboard competitions have been cancelled and postponed in recent times. In light of the situation, it is with great regret, that all events WAWA has sanctioned from 17th March 2020 onwards, can no longer be sanctioned and WAWA are not in a position to sanction any future events until further notice.
By effectively withdrawing sanctioning for the remainder of our season, WAWA is playing its part in protecting our members in this unprecedented global health issue. If you have returned from overseas in the past 14 days and are experiencing signs of any infectious disease (including runny nose, sore throat, coughing or fever), please seek appropriate medical attention. We encourage you to seek relevant information regarding the virus from trustworthy sources such as health organisation and Government websites and please take all necessary precautions to stay healthy and safe.
This is an ever evolving situation and updates will be presented to Divisions, States, Clubs and Members as they become available.
Warm regards,
Grant Barnett Leeza Wray
