  1. I apologize for my rant. I just had an argument with someone, I was in a bad mood and misdirected my irritation. My apologies to any I offended.
  2. Guys.....my advice to anyone that doesn’t like the rules, title or anything else about this event would be to talk / type less and do more....and to be clear as to what I mean by do more I mean put on your own event and make up your own rules. This crap isn’t easy....sitting behind a Computer screen and complaining....THAT is easy. I don’t want toil sound like a jerk but guys.....any rule we come up with is going to piss off someone.
  3. @eleeski you're a tricker, how many skiers do you know that actually do a legit and credit T7? VERY very few. And it credit is given left and right. Most of the best "pros" don't do a T7 without a hitch. It's a question because there isn't a public video that shows clear proof of the ski around the buoy. Did you watch the video posted above? Honestly, Regina will probably run 41 one day. No doubt she has the talent and ability to do it. What shes been able to do on a slalom ski is absolutely phenomenal. And with that being said, the video that the public has seen doesn't show clear evidence of the ski outside of 5.
  4. What is it with people wanting to close threads they don't like? Don't click on it if you don't want to read it. Not to be a jerk but that seems like a pretty simple solution. It might not be about "water skiing" but Fotis was a water skier and so were his kids. It is terrible what has happened to this family, I feel like it's also a shame that so many not involved with the case at all are willing to crucify him. The ending is in no way, shape or form an admission of guilt. I don't know if he was guilty and neither does anyone else on this forum. It's a painful process being falsely accused of something, cleared by an investigation but still having the accusers convincing anyone that will listen that you're still guilty. You would be amazed at what people that I used to consider friends did in the background to continue causing me issues ever after being cleared.
  5. @nikandsteve Lets not forget that Richard Jewell was "guilty" as well, he was absolutely crucified in the media.....and then what do you know, it actually wasn't guilty. This whole thing is terrible. A lot of people have been arrested on charges only to be found innocent later. I'm not saying he's innocent but just being arrested is not anything close to actually being found guilty.
  6. I am in complete shock by this entire story from beginning until now. Fotis did ski some Big Dawg events a few years back and I can honestly say I never saw anything to suggest him capable of any of the things he's been accused of. This is a terrible situation for the children.
  7. @ForrestGump Funny that you still want to blame the wrong people for this thread
  8. @dave2ball @klindy The big difference between jumpers bringing their own ropes and slalom skiers bringing their own ropes is that to measure a jump rope it is one measurement of overall length including the handle. TC's (in my opinion) would vehemently fight the approval of slalom skiers getting to bring their own ropes as they have to measure each individual loop not just the overall length. Maybe there needs to be standards for how much stretch is in a rope. To me last years black masterline rope and this years white masterline rope are night a day different.
  9. For some reason the poll skipped by without me being able to vote. I'm around 172 and can't stand the new rope. The ropes we used for Big Dawg Finals were the ropes they had been using on the Turnpike lake for several days by that point and they still felt like a rubber band. Boats have to be approved before they can be used. New ZO software has to be approved before it can be used. But this is the one key tournament supplied piece of equipment that does not have to be approved. Russell's already complained to me once because I voiced my opinion about his new ropes but it makes no sense to me how such a significant change can be made to a tournament supplied piece of equipment and we are forced to accept it. IWSF has instituted a new for the remainder of the year allowing an LOC to offer two types of slalom ropes. If it wasn't an issue, do you think they would have done that?
  10. I’m sure I’ll catch hell from someone for this post.....but.... Is it not confusing to anyone else how SafeSport can justify a lifetime ban for the equestrian guy based on an allegation of an event from 50 years ago? But yet their hands are tied here?
  11. @wawaskr HO has some nice handles, check them out: https://www.hosports.com/ropesAndHandles
  12. Well the Washingont Post seems to think it’s newsworthy
  13. @horton believe me I don't want to revisit it, it was absolutely horrible to deal with. People that I've known for years not even giving me the courtesy of reaching out to me directly to ask if any of it was true, they all just believed the loudmouth that started it. Hell I ended up having to compete at Worlds with f-ing shingles because of all of the stress. Someone brought up IP addresses, I wanted the story to be correct and with your comment on being personally attacked I thought it was appropriate.
  15. @BraceMaker What I'm seeing is that IWSF realizes that there is a real difference in the two ropes and is allowing a tournament to provide 2 options if they choose to....and I get "if they choose to". It's nice that this is an option. I don't think it's right that Masterline was allowed to change the ropes as drastically as they did (in my opinion) and skiers weren't given any options. I get that if they only have the new rope then I'm stuck with it, I personally think it's crap and hope I don't get stuck with it. And I'm also hoping that tournaments will do what they can to have both options available for skiers to choose from.
  16. It's about time. Zero Off has to get new software updates approved and still gives you 9 settings to chose from. Boat manufacturers have to get new boats approved but Masterline was allowed to just change the ropes for this year without having to get approval from anyone and with no options for the skiers. I shouldn't be forced to use a rope that is that much different from last years ropes unless I choose to. Nice to know IWSF has realized this and taken steps to make a difference.
  17. I would be curious to know how the scores in 2019 have been affected by the new MasterLine ropes.
  18. I agree that we need a crowd and for our World Championships. I'm also not against having the Worlds on a less then perfect ski lake to help attain the crowd and exposure that I think most of us would like. But when the conditions are so bad that it makes slalom border on dangerous that is not something the jumpers should have to compete in. You hit a swell or roller right before the base of the ramp when it's too late to pass and it could be extremely painful. Lets hope that doesn't happen but we should not be putting our skiers at that kind of risk in my opinion.
  19. @Ed_Johnson Nate did what he did and was suspended. People need to drop the insinuation that a "personal vendetta" was the reason for his suspension. Regardless of when the events occurred, safesport deemed his actions warranted a suspension. He served his suspension, its over, lets move on.
  20. @AdamCord jumping in kind of late here but regarding Glenn Campbell, he was notified before the event and before he showed up on site that he wasn't eligible. The reason he wasn't notified sooner was because he signed up to compete in OM, not in MM or M3. No one realized that he wanted to compete in the Big Dawg as there was a record tourney on one of the other lakes at WPB. By him entering in OM it gave the impression to everyone that he was planning to ski in the R portion of the weekend. I may be wrong but I believe that we (the Big Dawg committee members) did not learn of Adam Caldwell's interest in skiing the Little Mountain Big Dawg in August 2017 until the day before the event. As soon as we did, we did our due diligence and learned about the BOS event. We didn't like the situation but because Adam Caldwell had competed in the event in OM and placed in the top 10 (where there was a cash prize regardless of how little the amount) then we felt we had no other choice. We immediately reached out to him to explain the situation. Any that thinks it was an easy decision for us is absolutely wrong. Big Dawg doesn't have the numbers it once does, so to have to tell someone that wants to compete in it that they can't is a hard thing to do.
  21. Crazy good. Congrats Regina. @Chad_Scott you drive this amazingness? Any video? Heard there was video on IG but I can’t find it.
