  1. Years ago we had a fuel supply problem in a Mastercraft. Filters were fine. The fuel supply line in the tank had a screen over the end of the line that was clogged with bits of plastic from our fuel jugs
  2. Anyone have info. on the availability of motorhome parking/camping options at Nationals. The website says camping TBD. I've never been to the site. It sounds like it's in a residential neighborhood.
  3. The " legal distance" is 150ft. The legal distance is a bit academic because there are several large areas of the lake accessed by passing through areas that are not 300ft wide. Users will not slow to no wake speed to access those larger areas. The problem would be reduced if the surf boats used a greater portion of the lake. The homeowners association is trying to develop a flier or signage to educate users on wake etiquette, quiet hours etc. Educational language for all users is what we are we are looking for. I suppose you could be a jerk on a paddleboard and I wouldn't care. Surf boats or people wet testing their large ocean boats create tsunami size waves that create expensive damage are the target concern. We don't have government intervention on our lake......yet. I would like an educational approach first. If 5 wake boats turns into 10 our 400 or so residents will call in government and we may all suffer that intervention.
  4. One surf boat became five surf boats and damage is beginning to show. We are seeing shore erosion, dock damage and waterfowl issues. I've maintained a waterski course on our public lake for 30 years and my neighbors tolerate it for the most part. The surf boats with multiple people on board and the music they share with the world is drawing ire. I'm not against surfing, but multiple passes close to shore is tearing things up. Jetskis are annoying, but less of an issue. Any suggestions on how to tactfully help surf boat owners modify their behavior? Skiers boats are either planing or at idle and our wakes are minimal by comparison
  5. Everyone seems to be downsizing on their Vapors. I'm 6'3 and vary between 195 and 205. I ski 32 as a M7 and typically run mid 38. In 2018 I had a 68 Vapor. In 2019 I had a 67 Senate Pro and a 69" Vapor, Currently I'm on a 2020 69" Vapor. My ball count has remained the same due to a gate and patience problem at 38 although my 35's are smoothing and way more consistent. I'm tempted to try my buddy's 2020 68" Vapor, but the question ( finally) is why? Some very good skiers have suggested that you should ski on the biggest ski you can turn.... why not size UP. Also, does height matter? Should a 5'8" 200 lbs person ski the same size as a 6'5" 200lbs person. I can see why a 36mph skier would size down from a 32mph skier but what about the other factors I mentioned
  6. I had a similar problem on a 2001 Nautique. Ran flawlessly, stopped at the end of a pass and would not restart. Turned out to be a bad battery cable. Check the big easy stuff first.
  7. I’ll second the treble hook drag method. We sink our course annually and drag every spring. Takes 15 minutes to find the centerline and start tying buoys. Good luck!
  8. I love the saying...... you date your ski and marry your bindings! Maybe not ready for divorce??
  9. I believe you are correct. Just under the block touching the plastic shell
  10. Related to Ed's comment above about the index lines on the fin.... I have the WF mounted on a 2019 Radar 67" Senate Pro. I used the ski specific numbers on the Whisper fins site. Those numbers are..BF=30.75, Wing 8, FD 2.510, FL 5.570, DFT 1.95, LE 7.70. The front three index lines are exposed, the 3rd index line in the back is invisible. The ski is super reliable and easy thru 32off. However, the ski feels slow. My 35's are narrow and too much work and 38 is over at 1ball. I haven't tried the setup using the instructions that came with the ski. I defaulted to the ski specific setups. Any idea's to increase speed? I'm RFF, 205lbs and ski at 32mph. I will say that the first set was an absolute joy and there wasn't a scary moment . The fin felt great immediately! Of course, we always want more.
  11. I was there a couple of weeks ago and it is a top shelf ski site. The lake skis great. Highly recommend you visit.
  12. When can we order one and how long before we can actually get one to try? Also, will this fin work best with a standard wing or do you have something available that is better?
  13. My wife and I enjoyed this years venue. Airport access was great, hotel travel distance to site was easy. Electronic signup for practice was excellent and dock starts were great. Given the magnitude of this years event, I am amazed at how well the Mystic Lakes organizers pulled everything together. It’s a gigantic job done by volunteers and I thank them for a job well done!
  14. So....,I need some glove guidance from someone with big hands. The best fit I've had were XXL Radar Boa gloves from about 2014/15 or so. They were the yellow ones. They fit great. Every radar glove since is too small in a XXL. The 41 tails...too small. Miami's yellow gloves ...too small. Currently the HO Legend gloves are working, but still not long enough. I'm search for some gloves where the wrist strap actually goes around my wrist instead of the heal of my hand. I'm sure there are others that have long hands. I have not tried cutting the finger tips out of gloves yet....maybe thats a solution. I've learned to buy multiple pairs of whatever fits. Sadly, the last of 4 pairs of the yellow Radar boa's died.
  15. Comparing the White Cuff Reflex Boot to the new 3.0.... how is the volume inside the boot? Specifically, space above the instep. I have kind of a low volume foot and I’m looking for a fit that snug on top of my instep. How about the difference between the black and white cuff Reflex? I haven’t seen too many 2.0 or 3.0 compared to the older ones
  16. @blagrata. Docks that have too much floatation feel skittish or nervous to me. You can overcome that by heavy anchors and a large footprint. Less flotation allows the dock to settle in the water a bit and makes it feel less “ herky jerky” as was said earlier. I strongly recommend you use proper galvanized hardware with thru bolts at every juncture. Try not to reinvent the wheel in your design and lean on the pros to help get your material list together. Also, depending on where you live, building on the ice is a great way to build a big heavy dock. Lastly, check out dockproducts.com for vertical bumpers to keep the boat scuff free. Good luck on your project
  17. I have a 13 1/2 shoes size, 47 EU, medium width with a fairly low instep. The Reflex white cuff size 12 with their thin liner is just enough. The HO 13 is too small for me and the largest Goode Powershell is too small with no liner. I had great luck for years with a Wiley’s large pro wrap front binding. Good luck on your search.... it’s been said that you marry your bindings and date your skis
  18. Everyone ha s an idea I’m sure. I chose 12” floats for my 16x30 dock with a 6x20 connector to shore. My neighbors chose the 16” floats and I think their docks are nervous compared to mine, plus they float too high imo. My dock(s) keep all the wood dry even with a very large live load. I used the floats and hardware sold by these folks...http://scottcomarine.com They can help with the design and I followed their hardware and float recommendations. My dock is currently about 15 yrs old and still rock solid. Good luck on your project!!
  19. I think downswing/ upswing is a perfect way to describe what going on. It splits the discussion to before and after centerline. Reminds me of old alpine ski terms. Old days we talked about pressure on the downhill ski... then it morphed to inside/outside ski and things became easier to describe and understand. Hats off to the Adams for adding some clarity.
  20. Thanks for clarifying the ranking question. The runoff question would be interesting.... the last completed pass for each competitor in my example would have been 35@32mph. Then I guess either competitor could shorten or opt up in speed. I can foresee that the LOC could be fuzzy on how to score while getting used to ZBS. Regarding the last part of my question from earlier post.. I was referring to the 2018 Regionals and Nationals. I sort of thought we would be scored/ restricted to division max speeds. By that I mean you could ski " overspeed" but your score would be determined by line length at division max speed. To say another way, 38 off is 38 off regardless of whether you ski 34 instead of division max speed of 32.
  21. Help me be less confused. Suppose I enter a class C tournament now as a M7 skier with a max division speed of 32 and post a 96 buoy score of 6@38. A fellow M7 competitor runs a 35 pass at 32MPH and " opts up". He then runs a 35 off pass @34MPH and posts a 96 buoy score. How would a runoff work and how do those C tournament scores get posted for National ranking? And.... not to beat this horse too much more .... what about Regionals and Nationals for the 2017 ski year?
  22. I love the dragon ass term as it fits me perfectly. So.... any tips to fix that? My issue seems to be the worst at the second wake on my onside. Starts at gate. Seems like to little speed and too much load and I crush at the wake. I get away with it thru 32, but 35 doesn't allow that often
  23. "Similar to not maintaining good velocity in the preturn ". Exactly!!! And it starts at the gate. Gut 102 is worth a reread in the tech section. More speed.... less load or at least an amount that doesn't stand you up at centerline
