  1. Thanks for the insight everyone. I'm getting them both and will be selling the one that's less comfortable for me in the next couple of weeks.
  2. @"Pat M" I have a black hull on my '06 Response LXI and have no issues with fading on the hull due to reflections from the water while on the hoist. As long as you keep it clean and sealed, you should have little to no issues. Also, I love this boat. If I was in the market for an upgrade, I'd be all over it.
  3. If given the choice between a 2016 HO VTR and a 2016 Radar Lithium Vapor, which would you chose and why? This is for a relative novice level skier with a PB of -22, 32 MPH working on coming up the line and increasing speed.
  4. We have a course on our "semi-private" lake that we typically leave in. We used to pull it every Friday night and put it back in on Sunday nights. However, since there's only been 2 times in the last 12 years that I've seen a cop on the water, we've been leaving the course in with the exception of holiday weekends. The only time I've ever seen the DNR out there is during the winter issuing tickets for people ice fishing without licenses. Our course has been on the lake for 20+ years, so most residents know about it and respect it. There are a few occasions where someone who's been over served has messed with it, but I can count on one hand how often that's happened.
  5. @savaiusini I agree with both you and @Horton on this issue. I was interested to know what the thought was in using my current set up on the new ski and its potential effect on the flex pattern. Considering I have 2 boots and 2 plates, presumably the effect would be less negative that a single plate? Not sure. @Garn ....I was thinking the same. It's funny watching the video on the HO site where Will is shown wearing the Vmax boots in some shots and Reflex in others. I think there are some of him in Xmax boots as well. Thanks for the responses.
  6. Considering a VTR myself. The question I have is what effect will a different boot have on the flex of the ski? They info on the HO site suggests the new Vmax boot allows the ski to perform at its best however I don't plan on replacing my current boots, primarily due to the added expense. Can anyone offer any comment on that?? @savaiusini ??
  7. I saw that picture floating around facebook yesterday. On Jan. 1, 2016, a couple guys who've lived on my lake for 30 years went skiing. The only reason they did so was because January was the only month they had not skied.
  8. Are you looking for a vertical or a cantilever style? I was in your shoes late last season when my old hoist took a crap on my. I searched and found that what @oldjeep suggested is a good idea. Find out what's locally available and go from there. I looked at shorestation, shoremaster, hewlit, floe, max, and lakeshore as most are readily available in my area. I ended up getting the max. http://maxdock.com/vert_5000.php The reason I did this was that it's made locally, the extrusions seemed thicker than those of the competitors, the assembly seemed easy (have not yet assembled it), and maintenance of the pullies seems very easy. All moving parts have grease fittings and the pullies can be removed without have to partially or completely disassemble the cradle. Then, there was the cost component. I was getting more for my dollar with this hoist than the others. I ended up getting a powered hoist because I have a 120V beach circuit at my house that only has one receptacle on it, so it made sense to do that over the solar option.
  9. @MZito ....I almost bought a 2005 RLXI with a yellow hull and white and black accents. The deal didn't work out and I'm good with it. Ended up with this instead.
  10. @MZito ....Love that yellow boat!! I'm a sucker for yellow boats.
  11. I did't know there was a course on that lake. I've been there several times and not seen one. I know it gets blown out, so you have to get in early. Let me know if you find out who has the course and where it's located. I'm up there frequently, but don't always take my boat.

    MC 197's

Honestly, either a 197 or a Response LXi will serve you well. I agree that the 197 is a super nice looking boat. Having been in and skied them both, all I can say is that the bow space in the LXi is slightly better than the 197 but there is little difference in how easily you take take water over the bow. If anything, slight advantage to the LXi if you plan on doing any wakeboarding. I own a Response LXi, but I can't tell you I'd be any less happy if I had a 197. They're both great boats and deeper than -22, I'm not sure the differences are all that apparent. As said, longer line the RLXi or TXi are better. Otherwise, drive them both and ski them both and make a decision. You can't go wrong either way.
  13. I have a tower on my '06 LXi and one of my ski buds has an '05 LXi. You can notice the difference in the wake with just the tower. I'm taking mine off next season and will only use it if we take the boat to a large public lake in the northern part of the state with the family. For our normal usage, it's not necessary.
  14. Looks like it @MattP . I think you see the same pattern and color in the video.
  15. Congrats @Joeprunc! I too love my '06RLXI. It's a great boat.
  16. Glad to hear you're on the mend @Horton . Wishing you a speedy recovery mixed with narcotics and beer.
  17. Transition for me like @drewski32 .
  18. Name is Chris. 41, married, 2 little ones (3 & 6). Bought my first inboard 5 years ago and started skiing since I always wanted to. Now I'm hooked, but being a Sr. Estimator for an industrial contractor keeps me away from the water more than I'd like. Started skiing the course 2 years ago and gradually getting better. Looking very forward to my second Seth Stisher lesson here in June. He's been a great help.
  19. @ozski did you add 50#? Considering the same for my LXI.
  20. @Wish Not sure what boat you have, but this is what works in my boat. http://www.amazon.com/Attwood-Blower-Resist-White-3-Inch/dp/B001O0DE9E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427216228&sr=8-1&keywords=attwood+blower+white+3-inch
  21. @Wish I have the same issue. The Attwood blower that's $32 at Bakes is $16.16 on Amazon FWIW. I just ordered one and I'll take it at half price over Bakes and free shipping.
  22. My regular ski buddies are 58 and 60 respectively. They ski nearly daily during the season. I started skiing at 37 and at 41 my focus to to save as much as possible to I can ski 7 days a week during retirement. Hopefully that's at 61.
