  1. @Jaypro Are you using dual release or single? So you just put the ski in it without the boots and release goes in front of the tine? @mmosley899 Below is the rack in question. I don't own a Prostar, I have a Response so most likely I will normally just trunk it or leave it on the floor. But this is a very important question of my ski bud who I'm pretty sure has it written in his will that he be buried in his Prostar
  2. Making the switch to Mike's bindings but was wondering if they fit in the Prostar's ski racks? Single release, dual release, anybody know? Thanks
  3. Yup, no surgery, very clean breaks. Thanks for the well wishes, it doesn't hurt, but sometimes maybe it does hurt that I'm married to a Physical Therapist. But she's starting to get sick of putting me back together.
  4. Double vapors, I just think it was that perfect storm of being in the turn and forces pushing me into the ski when something went wrong. Already been talking with @mmosley899 about upgrading to some MOB bindings.
  5. 4 ball at 28 did me in. I've never run 28 and this pass was earlier to 3 than I ever have been. Pulled my guts out to keep the momentum going into 4 and then not sure what happened. Both tibia and fibula broken down low. Luckily a very clean break and no hardware, but my already short Michigan season was cut even shorter.
  6. Gainesville seems to be the black hole in Florida where no skiing exists. I think the gators have laid claim to all of the good lakes down there. My brother moved down there about 2 years ago and put up post looking for ski lakes and the best he found were about 40 minutes away, Lake Alto and Lake Santa Fe were supposed to be pretty decent.
  7. My bro and his wife are contemplating moving to Gainesville FL for a job and are looking for lake front or lake access. They checked out Lake Alto and Santa Fe but most of it is private / gated community (or at least that's what they found). They found a couple launches but they'd rather find a place to leave a boat instead of having to trailer it from Gainesville. Any recommendations on lakes, marinas, slips, or heck even cheap land to put a dock?
  8. Thanks guys, I thought I was missing something because there is no loop in the rubber hose, it is pulled a taut as possible. I messed with the hose and with the metal cable inside and after a phone call to Eagle they were pretty sure it was just assembled wrong.
  9. I picked up a 14 RLX this year that came with an eagle trailer with swing away tongue. It sadly got packed up for the winter yesterday and when I tried to fold up the tongue, it barely goes to 90 degrees. I've seen others that fold all the way around, but mine is getting hung up by the brake line. Is there a disconnect for the brake line, or is that it?
  10. Well, he made his first attempt this weekend on 63" Radar Senate we're demoing from our local shop (I got hosed by a guy on ski it again...) While he wasn't successful, I was proud of him because he was all grit and kept trying. The ski is floating up on him though, floats up and then falls to the side and we have to reset before we put line tension on him. Any tips?
  11. @Bruce_Butterfield what do you recommend for binding placement? Keep them close or is a little space beneficial? Also with the long ski and the little guy is it advantageous to put the bindings a little farther forward to make the ski easier to handle ie not flopping to its side when sitting in the water?
  12. Wow, thanks guys, completely changed my ski search. Great pic btw @GOODESkier, hoping to get my little guy carving like that soon.
  13. Not a bad idea @Chef23, but the combos he's on aren't shaped at all and have a pretty cheesy binding. I'd rather get him something that he could use for a few years and be better for crossing wakes. Thanks @markchilcutt I really appreciate it.
  14. Anyone have a kids slalom ski that they want to part with? My son is turning 6 in a few weeks and is bound and determined to get up on one this season, but his combos don't have a toe plate. He's a big kid and is mid 50ish pounds. Obrien makes the jr pro tour at 58" and I know KD used to make a 59" 7000 but I don't know what else is in that size range. I'm thinking much longer than that might get too unwieldy for him but I default to whoever has experience teaching someone this young. Thanks
  15. I just picked up a 2014 RLX and the fuel gauge won't go much past 1/4. I'm used to the bu gauges where they weren't the most accurate, on my old sportster I could run the gauge to empty and then it would still have about 8 gallons left in it. But this is a bit excessive. My first run I thought the wake was a bit bigger than when I test skied it, now I know I had a full tank of gas. Is there an easy way to adjust the sender without pulling the tank? Thanks b
  16. ARRRG! Pulled the cap and rotor and they were in terrible shape. The metal contact on the rotor was completely rusted away, with the contacts on the cap covered in corrosion and oxidation. Replaced both thinking this has to be it...no. Replaced the ignition coil...no. So it's on to vacuum tests I guess, that and injectors.
  17. Thank @acmx so his sounds similar and the issue was the pickup coil. What's a pickup coil? And a friend said that unless your engine has points which I'm fairly certain a 2003 monsoon EFI doesn't then it won't have a coil condenser, is that true?
  18. @gregy, I'm in michigan, ~1000ft no altitude sickness here... And this engine has run flawlessly for 700 hours living on the exact same lake. The pressures are interesting though because we are on the low end of what indmar shows as normal. But I could watch the pressure gauge rise as I give it more power and if I wanted, drop the hammer and it would shoot up to 40 run fine then halfway down the lake quit without any noticeable drop in fuel pressure. I'm going to pull the cap and rotor, ignition coil and condenser tonight.
  19. @DW I don't think it's the TPS because this all starts before I move the throttle. The boat could be holding at 34mph the entire lake and then all of a sudden start losing power and bogging with no change in throttle position. If I then try to give it more throttle to try to stay on plane then it will start backfiring, or what sounds like backfiring to my untrained ears. The temp is an interesting one, are you talking about the temperature of the pump itself? Anyone know where to find a replacement condenser, are the automotive and marine ones interchangeable?
  20. @LeonL and @DmaxJC_ski‌ if it helps the diagnosis, it only backfires if you give it more throttle once it starts losing power. It will start bogging and have trouble staying on plane and if you just pull the throttle back it won't backfire. If you try to give it more to stay on plane, then it will backfire. In any case, where do I start looking for possible leaks? @skosney‌, is the coil consdenser just the ignition coil or is there more to it than that? The boat is an 03 so should I do the cap and rotor as well? @evolski‌, yes it's fuel injected, I guess I don't follow. The air intake is on the back passenger side of the engine and is the semi cone shaped K&N.
  21. Thank you guys. I think I can cross off water and fuel because I pulled the tank drained it and cleaned it, and it dried for about 2 weeks before going back in to the boat completely empty. There is no fuel water separator either. Computer is a good thought, can the codes be read from a regular automotive scan tool? "2. Ignition Coil Condenser - Typically when these start to go bad, they act up once as the warm up." This is an interesting one and I'm going to look at that next. The problem doesn't go away after it sits at idle. From cold when I first leave the dock I have no issues, but about 30 minutes into running the issue will start. The boat never stalls when you pull to idle and I might have full power to get back on plane but it will act up shortly after that.
  22. I've posted before about the engine troubles I've been having with my Malibu. 335 monsoon in a sportster lx, occasionally it will bog and lose power, giving it more power just causes it to backfire. Pull to neutral, idles smooth, pull up again and it runs fine, most likely will do it again though. It doesn't do it cold, only after running for about 30 minutes or more. I started with the easy stuff, cleaned out the inlet screen on the fuel pump (external pump), changed the fuel filter. Then pulled the tank and cleaned it out, replaced the anti-siphon value, new fuel lines. Still doing it so I replaced the fuel pressure regulator, still doing it. Put a fuel pressure gauge on it and it reads 5psi at prime, 35 at idle, 38 at ski speeds and just over 40 above 40 mph. when it bogs the needle is shaking but that could be because of the vibration of the engine while bogging, but there is no noticeable change in fuel pressure when it loses power. Do I just suck it up and put a new fuel pump on it (it's about 300 bucks for my model), or do I start looking else where? Ignition maybe? I'm pretty much out of ideas so any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.
  23. You are awesome @evolski, you've got an open invite on my boat (as soon as it's running) anytime you're in my neck of the woods.
  24. Thanks @evolski, that kinda looks like what I found but I can't see mine well as it's tucked under the metal cover on top of the motor. How much has to be disassembled just to get that cover off? It looks like it's integral to the air intake and throttle body, does all that have to be removed just to remove the cover? This job just keeps getting bigger.
