  1. @Horton any Driver who can recognize their mistakes and is happy to tell the skier is someone to keep hold of!! =)
  2. @Horton @Chad_Scott I agree 100% BUT you are wanting to fastrack her skills? It is worth a try, I've used this method with a number of drivers with good results. Go pro is an excellent idea as well and have used this on the windscreen in front of the driver to compare hand movements with other drivers. With the right setting you can see skier on both sides of the course so no need for split screen.
  3. Have her start to drive to where she is in the course not so much the skier i.e. start to counter at the spot of a skier who is on time (I presume being early in the season you are running B2B's) This will start to create the rhythm of driving and the feel of the skier will come fairly quickly. Pretty impressive for a newbie, she actually looks quite relaxed =)
  4. Luca, a true Sportsman!!! @Horton Maybe edit the title of this thread with Luca's name?
  5. @skihacker Yes they did,, re read my previous post, at one stage there was so many gate reviews they ran out of time to complete the ,,, I think from memory a semi final???? Was 2? skiers that had to ski after about an hours break. Much easier to manage time frames without any reviews, this is I think why they went to live scoring
  6. From reading through a number of other threads it seems a lot of people are not up to date with current rules AND just found the IWSF 2019 Rule book was released yesterday
  7. I am pretty sure the reason Video is not used at Moomba is because of time restraints i.e. if the river is due to open at 5pm it is open at 5pm! Video Review adds to the pressure of this time restraint as we saw a few years ago with the top seed skiing about an hour? after other skiers. We also saw how quickly conditions can change on the Yarra! I am also aware that Video transmission is extremely difficult at the site due to well, being in the middle of a city!! Also best to read: Moomba Rules Pay particular attention to MM14.11

    Path Deviation

@JAS the @Splasheye system can be setup to give measurement at end of pass

    Path Deviation

@JAS I'm not sure that for position it is accurate enough, this is why we occasionally have to remap the gates due to GPS drift. I'm sure that the technology is out there somewhere though. The Splash eye system works well if you can get it to run i.e. environment has to be ideal
  10. A ski is designed to work with pressure on its bottom and fin, at an extreme imagine skiing at 55kph in a 58kph tail current, the ski is not going to respond how it is designed. I have skied in strong current and could not run a tail current pass yet head current was simple. I'll take a head current ANY DAY.
  11. Timing is also used as a double check to make sure speed has been set correctly. I have had bad times with ZO, VERY rare and there have been external factors e.g. hardware faults, weather? loosing Satellites at a certain site next to a cliff. As a side note I do not believe I have ever asked a driver if mapping was good feeling something weird at the gate, I would notice more so what a hand was doing on the wheel =)
  12. Ability based divisions can be super fun e.g. 26-32mph, 28-35off encourages competition in all divisions. A lot of fun to ski against other skiers at a similar level.
  13. Disabled is held in conjunction with Australian Nationals and its awesome!!! We also run a States based team competition as part of Nationals and having the Disabled skiers there as well promotes a fantastic team environment in an individual sport.
  14. @Klindy that is the system we use in Australia, the only extra stipulation being that an O21 skier who has achieved their Open rating MUST ski in the Open division. Divisions used are U10 U14 U17 U21 O21 O35 O45 O55 O65 O70 and of course Open.
