  1. My parents cotton ski rope kept breaking, but still have the bare timber handle with cotton yoke.
  2. No use thinking about it!!!!!!!!! Fred Williams ski ace 1961; My Fathers New Comp and Mum's Comp. They have flat undersides and are damn slippery. http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz111/echotoo/56d85288-7b3f-456e-9ab3-178d36bd2d04_zpsd06eae97.jpg Ski boat, built from 59 and think it was running by 1960. http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz111/echotoo/P1080573_zps66a42fce.jpg
  3. 1959 bondwood ski boat, no PP or ZO. Never seen a slalom course but would be interested in how well/bad it tracks.
  4. very little snow around here. I generally rebuild/build boats and hunt.
  5. Price; no idea yet but they are dusty old stock last time I saw them, so they will want to be cheap or I will just order from the US. Local, what, NZ is just another Australian state!
  6. Doonez, I'm currently chasing a liner for a RS1from a shop in Newcastle OZ that purchased a ESS and had old stock. Rang the owner last week and she has boxes of this stuff at home, has not rung back, which is typical! I purchased 2 RS1 boots and an adjustable rtp 2 years ago and am after another adjustable rtp and liner for a boot. This is assuming that the RS1 would suit your needs. What size are you after? I'll see if they could be bothered to sell, as there were quite a few sets of RS1 boots and other slalom ski stuff. Their shop sells skate and wake stuff. I have a 2009 Radar Senate C, RS1 and adjustable rtp and have never skied or seen a slalom course and am a total hack, but love skiing. Cheers, James
  7. My wife skis (cruises around) on a Williams social class with radar rs1 boot and another group of skiing mates have purchased new Williams skis. I keep offering my radar senate C for them to have a go on, but they refuse saying that this type of ski causes lots of injuries. They do have the straight tunnel concave though! http://www.fredwilliams.com.au/game/skis.nsf/vw_ProductsCat/FW%20WOOD
  8. Glenbawn Dam NSW Australia. No course, and the closest one I know of is about a 4 hour drive away. I really need to sort one out! We generally ski about 12 to 15k's from the boat ramp in quiet bays away from the wakeboarders jetskis and other boats. The dam is quite open in the lower areas and becomes quite rough.

    Rooster Tail

I'd play with a few propellers: the less aft rake on the prop blades the more bow lift and more of a rooster tail, a prop with more aft rake on the blades will give less of a rooster tail but less bow lift which may also be detrimental. Jody's suggestion of another prop is a good one but you may have to try a few to get the right combination.
  10. Ryno, agree that there are few sites in Australia and the couple that I know of are wake parks, just food for thaught. But being pulled by a winch would not bother me as long as it was within height, speed specifications. The closest waterski club to me (2hours drive) is a closed shop which leaves one other venue 4hours drive away. The only practical option is a portable course to sneak into the nearby dam and remove imediately after use.
  11. Same thaughts here, as I know of no Asten in OZ! There is an Asten Place in Western Australia, Jody's ski board would be right at home! If they lowered the pull from the rope down to the same as a boat, or ran a track under the water with a ski pole attached it would save a lot of dollars on boats etc, but then how would you bling up your winch, you could have a winch girl though (Scottish slang for this is interesting)!!!!!! Obviously it is cheaper to run these cable type systems and make it more acessible to the masses, but damn that would affect it's elitist allure!
  12. Nice looking dam there Phil. Just returned from Glenbawn Dam NSW, 33deg and 26 water temp, glass, stunning Sunday arvo of skiing!!!!!!!! Yeah, is you car invisible? Do you have a slalom course there, and where is the location?

  14. Purchased some ski stuff from cable ski in Cairns, this is the same company that has re-opened the cable wake park at Penrith. I purchased a set of combo skis from them at the Sydney boat show last year, so they obviously sell ski gear as well as wakeboard stuff http://www.cableswakepark.com/ never been to their site though, but they were good to deal with and the Cairns park seem to sell off excess and used stock each season on fleabay. The people at the Sydney show said that they were going down this road when they became established. Probably the best (only) chance of try before you buy in OZ! Williams skis also make excellent products that may be suitable http://www.fredwilliams.com.au/ some people won't ski on a timber ski and others love them! Ocean skiing; am sporting a black eye now from Saturday due to a roller from a wake boat, couldn't imagine runing into those ocean rollers!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Depends on how they are built. There are lots of ways to build a timber boat including; lapstrake/clinker (overlaping boards), carvell (edge butted boards) and ply sheet on a frame. If you get your mates rowing quick enough to ski, the wake is likely to be fairly sharp. Fitting PP Stargazer to them could also be expensive. Fiberglass over wood is not good if not built this way from new, especially after a bit of time when the moisture gets between the glass and wood and rots the whole show out! This lot will be a good help especially for timber row/sail boat help http://www.woodworkforums.com/f29/ My ski boat is timber frame with ply wood skin, it floats but dose take more work to maintain than plastic!
  16. Looks good, but know nothing about them. I'm running an old fish finder which looks ugly, but was free and works fine on plane. I usually use it to survey areas I have not been to before or where the water level has changed significantly!
