  1. Just sold my older MC and will be buying a used Malibu LXI before next spring. My self and friends like the older Sportsters, Response LX and LXI's the most, we all ski at 28 to 35 off free and courses. Were all debating on whether I should get the older models or a 07 to 13 LXI. We have skied a 08 LXI many years ago and noticed quickly at longer lines 15 to 28 off the wake was far from optimum like the older models with a much sharper and harder entry. With memory losing us we dont remember how the short lines were. I respect the guys here and please give me your thoughts. THANKS!
  2. Is it just me that seems HO'S new binding is a copy of the Radar Strada and Vectors? Even the lousy lace locks are the same! If true I guess its a compliment to Radar for building a great product. I love my Vectors...... with Wake board style lace locks though. Never a bad injury skiing but should stay off the volleyball court..... two blown Patella's in one spike bindings by Nike!
  3. I have 3 seasons and over 200 passes on my Vectors \ Vice ski. Never came out of the boots even with a few OTF! I am not tightening them much either, makes me nervous with 2 rebuilt knees! I lost a top bungy clasp and Radar quickly sent a new one incorrectly. They sent a clasp for wake board boots. It was very hard to slide on to the bungy but work much better than the original. The clasp has small handles that are easy to grab with your gloves on and pull loose at the end of the run. I suggested they go to that style for the Vectors will see if they listen. I put the wakeboard style clasp on my other boot to. Try it !
  4. Well I like many have an acceleration issue to the next buoy. I read years ago that the wings on the fins are only used to help slow you down at short lines below 35 off. I ski at 22 off in the 32 mph range and figured speed is the need not slowing things down. The first time out and after a few falls it felt noticeably faster into the turn and around almost to the point where my body was falling behind The next days sets I had the worse crashes that I've had in the past 5 years, I rarely fall. The last season ending crash was the ski taking off like a bullet exiting clear out of the water on my pull and me being spring boarded back then forward flat on my chest, bruising many ribs after the stars cleared my head. Only other change was moving my fin forward about an 1\8 inch or did this cause this radical feel? Is this common when removing the wing or should it not make such a large difference at my speed and length. My ski is a 68 Radar Vice with Vectors.
  5. Order a new Vette or Prostar..... this is tuff, 2014 seems to be a good year for both! 2 thumbs up for what I read here from my go to boat manufacture MasterCraft! As a owner that never seems to be the boat of choice over the BU'S when its slalom time with the buddies cheers to MC. On the wake board trick deal... Finally a slalom boat first trick second to bad boys someone had to do it! On our lake the trick boys have a trick boat only and another TXI for slalom, I bet this is a popular compromise on most lakes, yes all older boats. If you trick you no other tricksters if you slalom you no other carvers, right? My Vette carves up the corners and the SUV trucks through the snow, neither does both even ok........ The problem seems to be with the ski rule book more than with the manufactures. 45 Degrees this morning here the seasons almost done :(
  6. Yup green carpet works great and last for 10 plus years never removing it off season. There is 3 times more carpeted here you cant see.
  7. 25 this morning and 2 inches of fresh white stuff in Syracuse NY, the city that let the Big East championship game get away. Not all bad, partied with skiing buddies last night discussing a new comp boat to use at Ny's best course, looking forward to May and 60's.
  8. Update..... as the one that started this Stealth thing thread I must say I took a different approach to bindings since. Bought a new Radar Vice and clamped Vector bindings to it. My safety theory changed after reading post after post here to "I want out of the boots". Well with the 2012 season behind and few falls coming out seemed to work with the upper laces a bit loose as Horton and others scream. I'm starting to like the ability to flex at the ankles and distribute weight as I want. New way of skiing to save my new knees..... let go !
  9. 2 thumbs up for early 90s 205. Ive owned one for 6 years now and modified this mc to find a great option. I added a 10inch hydraulic wake plate. When down, slalom skiing even at slower speeds it breaks up the wake and flattens it out. By driving the bow down and transom up it also cuts back on the chine spray. With more hull in the water it turns more predictable and tighter with little slide which we need in our river to stay out of the trees! On MC.com I did a picture documented installation. This mod is needed more on the late 80s Mc as I see those hulls run SO transom down. I think wakes have as much to do with hull attitude as they do with hull design. Yes I have experience with 100 mph outboard rockets and blue printing hulls, those were the days....
  10. I've found the cheapest is the best Glucosamine bought at our local drug store in large quanity and cheap as possible. The expensive stuff made no diff to me. I bet most is very similar in make up just a new catchy name to lurer you in on hype. Steve I just finished a test and stopped takeing it for 3 months. Just as I figured the joint pains started to comeback although not as bad. Most noticable getting up in the morning excpecially after a work out...sore! Not worth it im popping 2 per day now to get back to the normal and comfortable feeling I use to have.
  11. I no this may sounds to easy but have you tried Glucosamine/ Chondroitin. 13 years ago I could not sit for more than 1 hour without both knees locking up (skiing didnt bother them). My doc suggested to try the glucosamine and give it 1 month before giving up. Well 1 month and wow what a difference now 13 years later I still take 300 milg per day. Its just a protine for the fluids in your joints. Worth the try...for anyone its over the counter and sold under atleast 1 million name!
  12. Seeing my BFF right leg rapped around the back of his neck after his left came out of the rtp just crossing the wake before the course sold me on the saftey issue of double boots, period. If I never get into short ropes because of doubles so be it... being able to ski into my 70's (hopefully) and not miss a summer like I did in 2011 is way more important. Useing radar vectors a bit loose in the rear seems to give great heel lift. I like to hear more on the idea of shimming the rear boot more, great idea. Happy Thanksgiving fellow skiers!
  13. Give that new Vice a chance you will love it. Im 198 and have the same ski but a 2011. It took 25 runs to feel comfortable and half the season to really understand it although from a F1X.
  14. Chuck we have a similar setup. We keep the cheap starter skis old slalom stuff in wooden well vented boxes at the doc that are also seats, built in one day 15 years ago. Each skier carries their own special ski from the car garage 300 feet away to the dock every time. Way to easy for a boat to pull up to the dock at night cut a lock and steel good stuff.
