  1. I am guessing that there are a few of us out there that have forgotten to pull the wedge up after something other than slaloming and accidentally left it down when moving to slaloming and run up to 34 or so mph before realizing it. Did the wedge/bracket fail?...Realizing that there are compression not tension forces at play in my situation. I have calculated approximately 350 pounds of lift with the current size and angle of attack.
  2. Good suggestions all, thanks. Will definitely take precautions with safety gear. Start with slower speeds and work up as well. @jackski any pics or drawings of what you settled on that worked perfectly for you? @foxriverat it can always be smaller...
  3. Winter always has the brain swirling with ideas. Finally decided to turn an idea into reality. Will be a few weeks till we hit the water and test it out. One thing for sure is I will know more then, then I do now. Hope to reduce the wake size. It may do that but I suspect there will be some other gremlins to deal with.
  4. Nice! Can't wait for my Lithium Senate to show up with double Carbitex Vapor boots.
  5. Not sure if changed from years ago but if you buy the new boots the plates are included so no worries.
  6. Got my Carbitex boots...they look awesome. Size 11 fits perfect for size 10 feet. Waiting for my 2017 Radar Senate Lithium to join them.
  7. Diesel= 1) Smelly fumes. 2) Additional cost option. 3) Heavier motor or at best no weight savings. 4) When refueling getting diesel on hands and distributing the oily substance all over everything you touch. 5) Not keeping the boat for 30 years so no payback on initial investment/cost. =No Thanks!
  8. @eddie_roberts_jr Cool. I will try those suggestions. So awesome that this site allows a direct connection with industry professionals for advice. Appreciate the willingness of high profile individuals to interact with us end users!
  9. Thanks for the set up numbers! My 2017 Senate Lithium is in and want to pick it up in a few days. Now I know how to set it up. Am 185, 5'11" and ski 15-22 off at mostly 34. Will keep watch for alternate settings as this ski gets riden more. Pumped to get out once winter releases her icy grip here in SW BC. @eddie_roberts_jr As I am not a shortline skier I remove the wing as I have heard that until you ski past around 28 off the wing is not really needed. I find it easier to get wide without the drag of the wing. Does this change set up recommendations?
  10. @igkya ...funny...had some people I know name their dog that (Dee-O-Gee) also named their cat See-A-Tee.
  11. 2017 Radar Senate Lithium is on the radar screen vs a 2016 Vapor Lithium for an upgrade from my 2014 Vapor Lithium.

    Props

I have a 2001 Malibu Response with a 325hp EFI Monsoon. Purchased last summer. It came with a 4 blade 13x13 prop. Not CNC. Swapped it out immediately for a Acme 515 (13x12) CNC 3 blade. Improved grunt, smoothness, top end went from 45mph to 47mph at 4900 rpm and my RPM at 34 MPH dropped by 150 to put me in that 3500 rpm sweet spot while pulling a skier. Turns about 3425-3450 rpm while cruising 34 mph without a skier. Am near sea level (if high altitude you may want the 525, 13x11.5) and can say this was a step up and the right move for my particular set up. What JT said is truth. Today's CNC 3 blades are awesome. No need to go 4 blade to get performance...my experience. Couldn't be happier.
  13. Hey, 2 grand is a lot of money...when I referred to "relative" I meant relative to bigger ticket items with payments traditionally spread out over a specific term, like a car or house. Welome to BOS @LoopSki
  14. They actually show a slalom skier crossing the wake. Not something you see in most crossover V drive ads.
  15. No disrespect to other opinions but if you have to lease/finance a relatively low cost, high depreciation item like a new Waterski you might want to wait till you can afford to buy it cash and keep your old plank till you can. And zero percent financing usually means the finance charges are hidden in the price you pay. Not much real free stuff out there. Everyone has to eat.
  16. Nose clips? I know what they are but why use them...filthy water, allergies??
  17. Would think that the activity of skiing would break up the surface layer very quickly and disassociate the olive oil partials into smaller and smaller groups with each pass. Easy for someone to try without risk to the environment and maybe good for the skin. Lol. Someone try it and report back.
  18. Lots of good stuff in 2016 but would have to put the almost 60,000 views of the new 2017 Malibu TXi at the top for shear number of views.
  19. Done. Finally think I have it figured out. Good thing I'm a fast learner ; )
  20. Approved Tow Boats The third column in from the left suggests the Mastercraft Prostar and the Nautique 200 are "modified"...what is modified? Hull tweaks? Something else? What are the tweaks?
  21. Don't know why MC didn't/doesn't offer a 6 liter engine as the base engine instead of the 5.7 as this motor seems to come into question a lot (on this form) about its ability to produce enough power for the 3300 lb (MC web specs) hull. Seems like this would end the debate and if you really need a snarling, fire breathing 6.2 it is still available.
  22. As others have mentioned, my thoughts are similar. 1) Decrease the dead rise at transom to soften the wakes. 2) Increase gunnel height. The hull has a fairly sharp entry and therefore not as much buoyancy. Not a bad thing just have to work with the height to stop it from burying the nose. Seen them at the lake and man are they low...especially when moving forward at idle. Spray and tracking seem to be as good or better than others so leave that alone. Would be cool for them to tweak things to get more attention than they already have.
  23. What @OB1 said...Supreme Carbon Pro maybe?!
  24. 6.2 nice colors but not price. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bod/5896001763.html
  25. @jjackkrash More money, but damn sharp rig. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bod/5896001763.html
