  1. Wouldn’t running a fine tooth file over the front edge of the ski to remove the burs solve this problem?
  2. LXi is the right one. Not LX. Got to have the set back notch on the transom. ‘99-‘04.
  3. The Sunsetter LXi is my pick. Just skied behind one again today and just utterly amazed that the wake was 90-95% as good as my 2001 Response. Lots of freeboard, good amount of room inside and has tons of storage room. If you step into a 206 you will feel cramped in comparison. The response OB in your price range either have a walk over to get to bow or are the low slung version ‘06 or older which can take on water over the bow easier than the ‘07 and newer Responses. Get a Sunsetter LXi you will be very happy.
  4. Malibu’s have a long history of having a hidden air intake slot just above the 3 cup holders at the back of the motor box. Worked good for cold air in when moving and warm air out when sitting. An unfortunate side effect was it would warm up your beerverage very quickly. Think ‘17 - ‘18 got rid of this slot?
  5. The ‘19 Senate is a new shape based on the latest Vapor shape, but wider. The ‘17-‘18 Senates are based on the prior Vapor shape. ‘17-‘19 Senates are all good choices. Have no experience with your other options.
  6. Local ski clubs ‘17 TXi 6.0L is a beast. Lots of power even for short set up.
  7. Aluminum plate had marks like you mentioned. Don’t think it’s that hard to eye ball center....? Looks like your plate has a thin foam gasket? Mine did not and I needed to sand the top of my screws down just a bit so they would sit flush with the plate and not mark up the ski.
  8. Enjoying this ski a lot. Ran 28 off 3x this week. Never done that before. Best was 22 off prior.
  9. Think this is a 4” spring. Just bent the ends to fit. End not visible attached to a round piece on the intake manifold casting that was in a handy place. 2001 Response with 325 HP Monsoon. Had a similar issue. The spring did not cure it. Ordered a new cable and that fixed it. The old cable was twisted in the casing and caused the drag.
  10. Progressor rope with loops between the regular loops was a great tool to success in shortening the line this season.
  11. Have the ‘19 Senate Lithium not the Pro but I believe it’s the same shape. Ran a PB first time on it. Very balanced and fast. Came off a ‘17 Senate Lithium and I really liked that ski. The ‘19 is just a little more refined. They are going to sell a bunch of these for sure. You owe it to yourself to try one.
  12. Had 3 sets of different year boots since 2012 and never any issues. Always taken liners out and kept out of the sun and heat.
  13. Wow, so fortunate to be able to spend the day skiing at Radar Lake. Brooks Wilson made it all possible. Great guy, had lots of laughs and had an awesome time testing out and getting a PB on the new stuff. The Prostar had an amazing pull and wake and wow...the Lake and property is just stunning. So blessed to have the opportunity. Thanks @brooks
  14. Hey All...if you are challenging the Slalom course and are struggling with it may I highly suggest a progressor rope(Masterline?). Have always had issues with the big jump from 15-22-28 off. Now with loops in between those and shorter lengths have gone from 15 off to completing 25 off numerous times in 2 weeks. With a PB of 4@28 off. If you are a long line skier and want to improve the progressor rope is the ticket!
  15. Haven’t tried the Miami Gloves, very flashy. Have Radar Vapor Boa gloves. A bit pricey but not one issue. Any other gloves I have had there was always something not quite right. Bought a second pair because as far as I was concerned my search for the perfect glove was over.
  16. Yes it is a 2001 Malibu Response with the 325 EFI Monsoon. Have version 9 now and installed a new cable. Big difference! Have not mapped the course or inverted the RPM’s. Will talk to PP next week when on the water. Changes so far have improved things but still not happy in Slalom mode. Am still running in RPM mode. If I over throttle a bit it takes too long to settle in so have to be very fussy about throttle position. Also engine rpms jumping around causing excessive pull and slack at varying points through the course.
  17. Awesome! I had the “Pulse” version of that ski after I sold the Connelly HP.
  18. @MarcusBrown re @chipkimball comments about a MC PS revision?
  19. Have a 515 on a 2001 Response with 325 EFI Monsoon. Very near sea level and a perfect match. At WOT it runs 4,950 rpm at 47.1 mph (GPS) with just the driver and has plenty of holeshot. With 2 in the boat and pulling a slalom skier rpms are around 3,200-3,250 at 32 mph. With your boat being a bit heavier and at higher altitude I would go with the 525. Because the 2 props are very close in size I would imagine that the wake would be similar.
  20. This is what you want. Get it before it’s gone. 2002 Malibu Sunsetter LXi. My buddy has a 2003. Skis awesome. Hardly tell the difference between it and my 2001 response wake. Surfs good with a 500lb bag behind motor and another 500lb bag in rear locker and of course wedge down. https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/pml/boa/d/malibu-sun-setter-lxi/6582506892.html
  21. Had a ‘13 TXi and it needed 200 lb bag to level it out with a 180 lb driver. My 2001 Response only needs 50 lbs. probably depends a bit on the mold it came out of. Buy 100 lbs to start and buy more if needed. I hate it too when the boat is not level. I’m at 15/22 off so may notice it more there.
  22. First ride tonight. No wetsuit. Air 78, water 72. Lake filled up enough to ski the premium spot on the lake. Good first ride with @herkyjerky.
  23. @Horton @mwetskier At a loss for words...
  24. Somebody please get rid of the guy in the speedo banner ad...the pendulum has swung too far the other way. @Horton ? @Brooks ?
