  1. The original "paint job" was bc I really didnt like having a white ski. I was used to a black ski and the white was almost distracting to me. But then it developed into something else...
  2. And after I decided I didn't like the entire ski being flat black....
  3. I did heavy deadlifts this week for the first time in a while. The soreness in my traps reminded me of the beginning of ski season!
  4. @Horton, you still have a chance at getting your hands on the original! http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/eb823e7388/funny-or-die-is-sorry-for-lying-about-hoverboards?ts=1394057633
  5. @Klundell Come stay at my ski crib in Georgia and get a head start on the season! I'm about to put a CrossFit gym in the basement too!
  6. My guess would be that when done properly, you are engaging your entire core in unison as opposed to isolating a specific muscle group. Because of this shared load bearing, I expect that soreness would be greatly reduced. "Guess" is the key word in the above statement.
  7. See!! I told ya he could explain it way better than me!!!
  8. The "3 Keys" principle is also found in sports psychology. What are the 3 things I need to do to be successful at x task? Whether its kicking the game winning field goal, making the free throw in the basketball game, or running a slalom pass. And when thinking about these three things, always think in the positive, not negative. For example, think "start wide" vs "don't start narrow". When mentally preparing for something, your body somehow always ignores the "don't" part of a negative statement, causing you to often do exactly what you're trying to avoid doing!
  9. @Than_Bogan An excerpt from an article in Men's Fitness: "Since squats are typically loaded from top to bottom, either in the form of a barbell or a dumbbell, your core has to work double-time to prevent injury and maintain an upright posture. In terms of building your six-pack, heavy compound exercises like squats should be a staple. Include front squats which involve a barbell held in front of your body for an increased core demand and to build insane midsection strength." There are tons of other resources that also list squats as a valuable core exercise. I'm sure @klundell can expand on it much better than I can. But when I think about core, I think about stabilizing. If proper squats don't do this, I don't know what does. You mention butt, hips, quads....but the weight is actually loaded on your shoulders. So what supports that load between your shoulders and your hips etc?
  10. Anyone ever practiced turning six ball and pulling for "seven"? I'm a left foot forward skier, so turning six ball helps me increase my offside practice by 50% each pass! But what I've noticed is that 6 ball is usually my best turn. Why? I think it's because I'm only focused on 6 ball and not what's coming next.
  11. @Texas6, I think we all get sore at the beginning of the season. But think about it. When you start skiing, you are loading your arms, shoulders, back, legs with multiple times your body weight. Not many of us walk into the gym and just pick up 600+ lbs. There's not much you can do to prepare for it. You're gonna be sore!
  12. "we must stay in the moment at all times" THIS is a very insightful/valuable piece of advice!!!
  13. If only three.....I'd say squats (one of the best core exercises there is), pull-ups, and planks.
  14. @mmosley899 will be the man to answer all the technical questions!
  15. @jayski We weren't debating if the weight of the SKI makes a difference....just the binding system
  16. @Wish, I THINK you meant "warrior" on the water. I doubt Jeff is worried about too much when he's skiing!
  17. I'm not familiar with metal interaction when exposed to water. However, I do know the final product will be anodized.
  18. @jipster43‌ We are talking about ounces....not pounds. It doesn't matter.
  19. I know Chet has specifically commented on biding weight as well. He shares the same sentiment as Mapple....it doesn't matter.
  20. @Chef23 Its not as heavy as it looks. However, it is probably a little heavier than a reflex system. But honestly, does such a small amount of weight really matter that much? I guarantee the weight difference is no more than what my weight fluctuates depending on what I eat for breakfast
  21. Anyone see the newest member of the Mapple team? Pretty interesting considering Jeff has skiied on a "phantom" ski for quite some time. Curious to see how it shakes out. Thoughts? Here's a link to the announcement: http://www.mappleskis.com/news/wp/mappleskis-has-a-new-team-member/
