  1. @LeonL, your post perfectly reflects my thoughts on the new ProStar. I had to apologize to @OB this weekend for one of those missed 35's. I'm usually able to adapt to an unfamiliar boat pretty rapidly......but the ProStar left me baffled. I commented to one of the senior drivers about my experience. He later drove the boat and felt the same way I did.
  2. When you say you can't "slow down for the turn", the first thing that jumps to my mind is not that you have too much speed, but that the DIRECTION of your speed is probably off. Cross course speed and down course speed yield very different results. Down course speed (bad) is typically caused when someone doesn't have good angle behind the boat and/or they are pulling too long off the second wake.
  3. Looking forward to the release of the Open Men!
  4. I believe @MattP‌, @mrpreuss, and @JoelHowley‌ are as well
  5. @gginco November isn't too bad. December through Feb are the coldest months. I'd say average air temp is in low to mid 40's and water temp about the same. But if you don't mind drysuits, you could pretty much ski year round. The lake has iced over before, but its very rare. @Chef23 Annual HOA is $1,000 per lot. Then as an owner, you pay a per set fee of $7 to use the boats. Whitestone is approximately 1 hour from Atlanta. My wife commutes to downtown Atlanta 3 days a week.
  6. @thager Every property owner at Whitestone has equal lake rights. That means full access to both lakes and both ZO equipped boats. Best deal in the country.
  7. Why buy a lot for $200k when you can have a furnished home for $200k. Crazy. http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/129-Jump-St-Talking-Rock-GA-30175/2107193736_zpid/
  8. I skied more than a full pass below my average on Robin Lake. Granted, I had to navigate the tall, bullet-style boat guide buoys as my gate balls......but that's another story.....
  9. Was the 1/3 side the onside or offside? Turn radius was much more consistent on 1/3. 2/4 you could see angle rapidly increased at the finish of the turn.....except for 6 ball of course.
  10. My only advice @chris_logan is to not use fondant. It looks cool....but tastes like crap. And all most people care about is how it tastes!
  11. @6balls Jasper, Canton, Ellijay. Canton is a boom town. They are currently building a brand new hospital there. As the urban sprawl of Atlanta moves further North, Whitestone is becoming more and more accessible to all kinds of amenities. It's located halfway between Jasper and Ellijay. Between those two towns, you have everything you could ask for. Home Depot is in Jasper and Lowes is in Ellijay. Zaxby's is in Jasper and Chick-fil-A is in Ellijay. You get the idea. We love it so much here that my wife commutes to downtown Atlanta (65 miles). We originally purchased the home as a second home but after the first weekend, we started making plans to move fulltime. We moved up fulltime in March and are SOOOOOOOOO happy here. The people in the community are awesome. Its in the "country" but still close to city centers and modern conveniences. We are gonna be here for a LONG time! When are you and @Razorskier1 gonna hop on the plane and come down for a few days???? Gilmer County airport is 5 miles away!
  12. @Sethro Here's a screenshot from zillow showing the home's location. As OB stated, none of the homes are ON the water....but many have lake views. The developer wanted to keep the surroundings as natural as possible. So instead of seeing houses when you're on the water, you see the natural surroundings. Its honestly one of the most beautiful sites I've ever been to. The photo that OB posted was taken from the south end of the lakes looking north. If you look closely at OB's photo, you can see the jump ramp on the right in lake 1.
  13. @Sethro We were dredging lake 2 when that image was taken. Lake 2 has been full and functional for approximately 2 years now. @Razorskier1 Plenty of finance jobs in Buckhead!
  14. Best private ski community for the money. Period. 2 lakes, 2 boats with zero off. 2 record capable courses. Located in the beautiful north Georgia mountains....just one hour north of Atlanta. Come be my neighbor! http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/65-Fox-Den-Ct_Talking-Rock_GA_30175_M61842-96739
  15. Here's a pic from Ski Watch...... just outside of Pensacola.
  16. Everything you have there looks consistent with numbers I've seen.....except your dft and wing. Here are my numbers 6.925 tips 2.500 .740 slot 7 degrees But I will say this. I start at 28 off (58k). And in my opinion my ski performs worst at 28, gets better at 32, and even better at 35.
  17. Just drove past there yesterday. Lake was glass, sun was shinig, and the 196 was on the lift. I shed a small tear
  18. Excellent video. I've seen it and referred to it a lot......but I still wanna find that article!
  19. I THINK Seth Stisher wrote an article that was published in WaterSki magazine somewhere between 2008-2010. The premise of the article was about "riding the slalom swing". It made direct comparison between running a slalom course and riding a swing at a playground. I've contacted Seth directly but he hasn't located it yet. Any help tracking it down would be greatly appreciated!!!!
  20. @SkiJay Awesome intel. I think I'll leave it where its at. I'll only make adjustments as I normally would. Thanks so much for the research!
  21. @SkiJay, I'm on a 68. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but with the same fin measurements that I was running on my old ski, won't I be running more surface area simply because of the fewer holes? Surely this would have some impact on fin performance. I have noticed of felt like I wasn't getting as good of a "smear" at the end of my turns. I'm definitely thinking about shallowing it up a hair....just as you've described. I'll probably wait until it warms enough that I can ski more consistently and accurately evaluate the impact of the change. Thanks for the insight!!
  22. I'm surprised that I didn't notice the new fin on my Quest. I asked Paul if he had any suggested numbers and he told me to stick with the settings off my old Quest. After reading this, I'm thinking that may not be the best idea. Im running mid 38 at 58k. My settings are currently 6.925 .760 slot 2.500 7 degrees Anyone have an opinion on these numbers and possible "improved" numbers that reflect the new fin?
