  1. Had nerve block put in prior to surgery and stayed on Vicodin for 2 to 3 days then only at night to sleep. My postop instructions showed return to work on the third day after surgery possible. Being in the sling was the biggest problem and had to sleep in a recliner for eight weeks.
  2. I had acute long head bicep rupture on July 2 going to the one ball. At the end of the pass could see bicep balled up above my elbow. Next day MRI revealed at least a partial tear of supraspinatus tendon which definitely tipped the scale toward surgery. The bicep would be anchored to the humerus and a look at the rotator cuff to see if repair was possible on July 15. Arthroscopic inspection revealed a full thickness or complete tear; he was able to make an excellent reattachment and reasoned it was the probable culprit for the stress that caused bicep disruption. Sling and passive range of motion for six weeks followed by six weeks of active range of motion and stretches which went well. Started light bicep resistance several weeks ago and high rep shoulder strengthening (and lifting over 5 lbs) as of yesterday. No weight restrictions in another month and ski date possible 12/15 or 1/15 at the latest, which will be 6 months.
  3. Here's Marc Shaw's spreadsheet - it auto updates the top 16 as well: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AosUWMaWcIFtdHp6V3BaWXZpcXRWMVJRQlFhR1cyZ2c&output=html Todd Johnson just ran 1 at 41
  4. See next post - was uploading as you were typing too. @MattP @Up North @jcamp
  5. Only one skier, Todd Johnson (1.5 @ 41), ran 39 first round - see below. Midway thru round 2, at 5:20 pm central, one score of 1 at 41 and no other 39s yet.
  6. I got the Vectors late 2011 and took my first real fall 5/22 with an OTF after hitting a standard turn ball a bit flat, so was not going terrible fast. I dove in and my front foot came half way out and twisted a little. Thought it was a sprain but weight bearing xray showed serious Lisfranc joint injury. I kept the lower bungie snug and never loosened to get in or out. However, I pulled the top lace pretty tight; perhaps not tight enough or obviously way too tight! When I can finally ski again I guess I'll try very loose around the ankle and then try something new that comes in a small enough size. Would welcome comments on recovery and physical therapy - met several skiers at the Texas Big Dawg who had the same or similar injuries.
  7. I must say @Horton, you're much more handsome in person; Shane could be your wingman :-). Good to meet you and great skiing - jealous!
  8. Wow, great skiing David. I freaked at 5 ball on my recent tournament PB - think we'd all kill to do what you did in practice or even in our dreams :-)! I would like to donate my EZ fin tool that I assume I won for second place to you for your awesome performance. Lydia Heard
  9. I have been using a 64" 9800 for the last 16 months with a plate that added a pound to the weight. Got on a Strata 55 65" last week and was comfortable right away. Making every opening pass and next which was not a given always on the 9800. Seems forgiving, fast and turns great. Love the inserts and the lighter overall weight.
  10. Tried to beat my score at Ski Texas on Sat. 18th but 80.5 was it.
  11. I doubt anyone skis below par in a tournament in anticipation of a yet to be named prize in a future contest. That said, I had 2 scores in 2010: 78.5 and 76.5 with a 5% penalty for lack of tournaments made the AWSA average 73.63. Without the penalty, the average is 77.5. Confirming that is an accurate handicap, the 12 months prior through 5/11 (3 tournaments 76.5, 80 and 76) also averages 77.5.
