  1. Facebook The GOAT goes out in style, winning her 11th Moomba Masters jump title just 100 days after giving birth After a decade of dominance, including an unparalleled winning streak that stretches back to March 2013, Jacinta Carroll has announced her retirement from professional water skiing
  2. Another tidbit about his run; first Radar ski to run 41. Pretty cool!
  3. As a self-admitted, somewhat reformed gear junki, I used to always want the newest "bestest" gear. That brings me to a thought. If Nate is the best slalom skier, what does it say that when D3 brings out a new ski, he often stays on his old ski and it gets rebadged to look like the new ski. He is notorious for clinging to not just the old version of the ski but sticking with that very ski. Perhaps it's the shiny new bauble that draws us in. On the other handwe all know that from time to time we try a new ski and it's instant love and gratification. That said, I read every new ski review anxiously hoping that the MOASS exists!
  4. @Vernon Reeve One other tip is more for your driver. As a big dude, you aare moving against a lot of water. So, while you find it easier on a soft start, consider it a three phase start for the driver 1) in gear 2) soft start 3) progessive throttle up as you begin to rise out of the water #3 finishes the job with less drag, and firms up the water under your ski. A driver that can be firm on the throttle at the right moment can help immensely. This does not mean he should matt it...nice and progressive.
  5. I know this doesn't intuitively make sense, but in teaching it this way for years I can tell you that it works. First, your ski can only be "trapped against the rope" if your ski is fairly verticle. This method fixes that. Get you knees up to your chest inside your arms. Get the ski well out of the water, with your toes on your front foot near the water's surface. Rear foot tucked up near your butt. Keep your arms straight, chin up. When the pull comes on relax. As you feel the water push on the bottom of the ski, extend your legs and stand up. after you get used to this method, you can start standing up quicker, but for now do it gradually. The ski starting up higher, will immediately roll down flat on top of the surface, rather than plow, the tip will be nowhere near the rope. The ski should be on a relatively low angle because your back foot is tucked up. Here is a decent shot of JMac starting.... https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxOq4UofGCdmsa9vqN35MoneZTbsc68Buq?si=mgH82ZVwSGYo3VPh
  6. I think the point that made it click for me was realizing that if you keep the handle close, as you swing outbound and the edge change happens automatically allowing you to maintain outbound direction on the inside edge. This keeps the rope tight and allows you to get wide.
  7. Not news, but Regina is about 5'4" and skis the same speed as most of us on this board. Her ability is just astounding!
  8. Granted at 34 vs 36, but she got further down the line than the men. Has that ever happened before?
  9. It occurs to me that Regina is even more amazing when you consider that as a Malibu athlete she only gets a couple of shots per year to compete behind the "correct" boat.
  10. Judging by that run, she is going to run it one day!
  11. On the Mastercraft Pro broadcast, Freddie was saying that one of the women, (Russian I believe) used to do 5 sets a day....YIKES
  12. The new JCraft is truly a custom boat. If you wanted a rear facing passenger bench, they would make that for you. Same thing if you wanted the rear seat furthr fwd and a sun pad. If you have any other ideas, reach out and talk to them.
  13. @Deep11 At the World Champioships, he was using a different snow ski boot, but pretty similar to the current setup. @Horton He did indeed win. He also threw his ski out to make an impossible ball in horrible conditions. There is a pretty decent chance that he would have been injured no matter what binding/boot he was using.
  14. Remember that Joel shattered his ankle (leg?) with that set-up at the World championships
  15. Just watched a video of Adam Cord on their new ski the C-95 running through 41 off and getting 1@43... Could it be?
  16. Your friend down the lake had a Tri-hull with an 85 horse and you thought it was the cat's ass...
  17. You coveted a Maheraja slalom ski...😄
  18. Years ago at the Malibu Open (at least I think it was), Nate was in excellent position to break the slalom record and bailed at two ball when he was early....at the time he was a Nautique athelete and the tournament was pulled by Malibu.
  19. While watching Kaifas, I noticed that Joel isn't there. Then I thought that I don't know if I have seen him at any of the tournaments. Is he injured?
  20. Congratulations to Freddy Winter for the win! As a side note, that breaks Nate's undefeated streak. He says that he won 27 straight in tournaments that he competed in. Must be a record? Also congrats to Jamie Bull on the women's side!
  21. *** Take a look at most of the podium finishes on the Pro circuit. All have rear toe bindings. *** More of a mixed bag. Nate uses a rear toe loop. Freddy uses a rear set-up with a heel piece. Joel Howly uses a form of a rear boot. Will Asher uses a toe slip On the girls side, both Regina and Whitney are in double boots while Jamie Bull uses a rear toe slip. Anyhow....I always used a rear toe slip. My son, @ballsohard, made the switch from double boots to the HRT then to a regular rear toe slip. Both Drew Ross and Matt Rini said it was the way to go.
  22. Nate won every event that he enterred last year and this season so far. I don't think a ski change is either required or is likely.
  23. Anyone think that Nautique would have taken the same action against Nate?
  24. Some of the Platform lifts run the cables horizontally in a channel that runs along each side of the slip. They use a hydraulic cylinder to extend and contract the cables. Much neater look and no cables running over head. An added benefit for closed in boat houses is thst the platform prevents anyone from swimming under the door to gain entrance. This video includes an animation that shows how the lift works.
