  1. I fought this exact same issue in my 2007. Replaced the cable, helm, repacked and finally had success by replacing the clevis where the cable attaches to the tiller arm. Updated version available from nautique.
  2. I did some homework on this and found some plans to build a semi-perm ramp from timbers cable locked together and using a hot dipped galvanized expanded metal mat for traction. I never got permission from the land owner to build. I have a 4wd truck and 8000lb winch so I wasn't t too concerned about getting out but don't underestimate the forces involved extracting a trailer sunk to the frame in mud.
  3. Are the new bindings available? Mine blew out Sunday and having a hard time finding 2 size 11 Radar's.
  4. I met Steve back in the early 90's through NCWSA and skied with/against Rick and Elyse at SCR tournaments. I reconnected with Steve and got back into course skiing a little over 10 years ago. He had a passion for the sport (3 event) and was a great coach for so many SCR collegiate skiers. Over the past few years we struggled to maintain a course on public water but still managed to get out when we could. I enjoyed meeting him at the river for a "lunch" set then going back to the office straight from the course. Steve also had a way of telling it like it is and coached the same way. I laughed as he coached my son and got away with saying things I couldn't. Steve could also "fix"/ rig just about anything on a boat, ski or course. He tuned many a prop with primitive tools. He was a good friend to me and my family and I will miss him. God's peace to his family.
  5. I have a friend who is a exercise science prof and I was asking why skiing causes more soreness than normal workout. He put a great deal of emphasis on the "negative". In hiking up a steep trail the soreness comes from the hike down not the climb up.
  6. That's the same color sceme I grew up with in the 90's. Dad called it his Miami Vice boat. Still on the lift at my parents place. This one definitley changed up the interior colors from stock.
  7. I am in the market for a heater top and would like to know which ones work best for slalom.
  8. Any tips or tricks on washing a neoprene vest. My 13 year old son's vest is getting pretty ripe. I tried fabreze and now I am considering washing it in a front loader on the gentle cycle. The vest is an O'Neill CGA.
  9. What age do you guys start your kids driving? I am working with my 13 year old now. We started with the basics in open water and now moving into the course.
  10. @skisawg 1.06 and yes I use a radar's version of lock style glove.
  11. I have struggled with tendonitis in both elbows in the past few seasons. After a winters rest I am pain free and would like to stay there. My question is, are there skis that make it easier to protect my elbows than others? ie "lighter on the line" such as the S2 or other "low resistance" skis? Skis to avoid? I have already switched to a radius handle and radar lock gloves. I am a 35-38 off 34mph skier, 6'1" 200lbs.
  12. @shaneH That's the one just could not recall the name. I couldn't remember if i read about him in a waterski or MX mag.
  13. Seems like one of the pro motocross guys a few years back was/is a 35off skier.
  14. Here is the same "Miami Vice" edition Supra my dad bought new in 87. Quite an improvement from the 14 ft VIP runabout w/ 85 HP Johnson I grew up with. He ended up trading this one in for an even more teal 90 model that he still has. I voted for black at the dealership not knowing he had already purchased the teal and raspberry one. Good times in both of them.
  15. Jobe went the extra mile with the neon boots. I forgot about this one but it is currently avail on the large online auction site.

    Boat Advice

I went through the same decision making process a couple of years ago and decided to stay with the 196. We keep a course in a backwater cove on a public river. With the family we play on the river, yes we even pull a tube with the kids, then anchor the tube in the cove as a swim platform while we ski. Keeps the crew weight down in the course and still have great wakes at all line lengths and speeds. My other strong consideration was the 206 but in the end didn't think the "extra room" offset the extra wake/cost.
  17. The leatt brace has come on strong in the motocross industry and it looks like they are expanding into other markets. You might talk to them about a watersports version. http://www.leattbraces.com/
  18. I have used Northwest fiberglass in Tomball. They did a good job for me only problem was getting on the schedule. The malibu dealer outsources their glass work to them (or they did a few years ago). Dockside may have someone inhouse or a refereal for you as well.
  19. I am waiting for an adapter as well. New bindings sitting in the box. There is a thread over on pro ski coach that has a pic. of a homemade plate.
  20. Are you guys all skiing 34 or 36? I was wonering if the 34 specific was marketing or if the S1 is better suited for 34 than the A1. Another way of asking is how do you like the A1 at 34mph? I am trying to decide which one to try with the new exo boots and don't really have a demo option avail. I am currently on a D3 nomad skiing 34 mph -35.Â
  21. Can't wait to give these a try. Now all I need is a new ski!!  Thanks HO and BOS!
  22. My son is turning 12 this summer weighs 100lbs and just got intrested in the course last season.  He is running 26,28,30 mph. We have a 64" HO CDX and a 65" Nomad. What speed does the equipment start to make a difference?  What kind of set up do you have kids of similiar size and skill running?ÂÂ
