I have been skiing competitively for the last 20-25 years. I took up road and cyclocross racing about 4 years ago and am now hooked. Have made it to Cat 3 and now I have decreased the amount of time spent training for waterskiing and increased my cycling training. Lost 20 pounds, which actually improved my water skiing even though I am training less for it. I have to agree with Shane that it is much more rewarding competing in ability based divisions vs. age based divisions. Plus the amount of time spent at bicycle races vs. water ski tournaments is a consideration. For example, I can complete a 50 mile race in a little over 2 hours whereas I would sometimes spend 10-12 hours sitting around to get 3 slalom rounds in. I haven't completely retired from water skiing, yet. But it is definitely now my 2nd favorite summer activity. Something needs to change in the sport to renew my enthusiasm.

@Horton. What fin settings are you using? I may try mine again since I have no one interested in buying it. I found it very difficult to get an accurate DFT on this ski. I was using an aluminum HO fin. The carbon fin was too flexible. I have not tried mine in about 4 years.

According to the above chart, my 65.25" Nano One (Twelve?) has 6.72 fewer square inches than my 65" Nano Twist Mid and 5.45 fewer square inches than my 66.5" 9900SL.

My Hart F-17 (175 cm) mogul skis have camo graphics. I want camo graphics on my Nano One, too!

Can Fogman releases be used in place of the OB4 releases?

I would imagine that screwing into the ski or adding inserts would void the warranty and hurt the resale value of the ski. Can the 3M automotive tape be substituted as a permanent solution up front? My experience working with it, it is extremely difficult to remove from the ski. So you wouldn't need a lot of it up front.

Would this work on a Fogman plate?

I will buy a set when they become available.

I am going to order one from TW. How long does it take to get used to a handle guard? Do your fingers ever bump into the handle guard, making you miss the handle? How much gap is there between the handle and the edge of the guard?

I am thinking of switching from my homemade Fogman Riedell G-10 Dual Lock hybrids to the Reflex with R-style rear. I currently have my front boot rotated 3/16" clockwise and my rear boot rotated 9/16" counterclockwise (RFF). Can anyone enlighten me on whether the Reflex setup can be rotated similarly. Do you need the 2 plate setup or the monoplate setup to accomplish this?

I use intuition liners inside my original Riedell Fogman hardshells. I buy a size 6 and stretch them thinner to my size 10 foot when heat mold them. The Riedell shell does not have a lot of volume to them. Then just cut the excess height from the cuff. I sent mine back to FM and he had a nice fleece cuff sewn to the top.

Problem is it is custom made for each ski model. May not fit your next ski or the one after that. Be nice if they made a more universal fitting fin protector.

@SkiJay. By the very back of the heal, do you mean the thickest part of the bulb of the heal? NOT where the heal of the boot touches the plate. Is this correct? I measure this distance by holding a Combination Square against the heal of the front hardshell boot and marking a line on my plate. Then I measure from this line to the tail of the ski. Sometimes I even remove the fin clamp to improve accuracy.

Definitely recommend using the clear. It just peels right off. No need to use any solvents.
