  1. @skihart I ski at a site near Durban called Satellite Dam http://www.birdvalleyestate.co.za/, that's the web page for where I ski
  2. @skihart I live and ski in South Africa, If you are going to be in and around Cape Town, your best bet is to check out Mofam River Lodge, They have a pretty cool 3 event set up there with a ski school and will have equipment for you! check out http://www.mofam.co.za/a-waterskiing.htm. I dont know much about that area of South Africa as i live quite far from there but the Garden route is very well known as being and amazing experience!
  3. @skihart this is my home site called Satellite Dam, it is near a town called Pietermaritzburg, about an hour 20 minutes drive inland from Durban. You can find the lake using these co-ordinates; 29°22'34.01"S 30°26'20.76"E. We dont have many sites in South Africa but most are listed here, http://tinyurl.com/bro89vv. Check out, http://www.lakegrappa.co.za/, http://www.mofam.co.za/a-waterskiing.htm and www.waterskisa.co.za. South Africa should be a pretty cheap getaway once you are here!
  4. Was out on the lake here in South Africa yesterday. It was a warm 33'C (93'f) no wind and perfect conditions all day!
  5. We just moved from a 5.7 to the 6litre, best decision we made. The 6 liter seems to have a much more consistent pull to the 5.7. All round a better boat to ski behind and amazing to drive
  6. The double sided tape is probably a better option, the tape that reflex and AM use to mount their plates to their skis should work, it's called 3M VHB. Getting it off for binding adjustments may be an issue.
  7. I know you most likely will not want to do this but I know a few skiers who have had the same problem and to avoid the plate bending more or even breaking they have drilled holes in the ski to use the front 2 slots on the reflex plate. They either then put self tapping screws into the ski or put inserts in. I know drilling into your ski doesn't sound like an attractive idea but it is a good solid fix!
  8. I had a pretty weird slalom incident on Wednesday evening. I came into 4 ball at 13m (32 off) and fell in towards the boat with my shoulders a bit so I let go of the handle to avoid taking an unnecessary hit out the buoy, the next thing I know I was flicked up onto my back by a hard pull at my right ankle. Turns out that as I let go of the handle it somehow got wrapped around my front leg (right foot forward) and when the boat pulled, it pulled my foot from underneath me. I ski with a reflex boot in the front and the boot was pulled not only off my ski but off my foot too (it is now in the lake somewhere around 4 ball), I'm guessing by the boot coming off my foot it took the rope off from around my ankle with it. My ankle hurt real bad so I went for x-rays but luckily nothing was broken, doc says its a bad sprain with some ligament damage, I have a splint for 5 days but guessing I'll be off the water for a few weeks. What I want to know is if anyone has heard of this happening before? Because I sure have not!
