  1. Elite = one of the most beautiful skis ever made.
  2. It's the end of the season and I need some thoughts on a new rear boot. I currently have a RStyle rear boot (with a HO hardshell front). I like my current setup but..........I have a high instep and I've been told that the RStyle is affecting the nerves and tendons in my foot because the boot is so stiff over the top of my foot. To clarify - high instep means that the TOP of my foot is higher than average which equals more pressure on the top of my foot. For peace of mind/security a rear toe isn't an option. And a pure full boot isn't an option because I like to have the freedom and movement of what the Rstyle gives me (but not the pain). Radar HRT rear boot? HO Stance rear boot? These are hybrids that seem to have a lot of extra room over the top of the foot yet will still allow me to move my foot around. Thanks for any feedback!
  3. I was previously on an EVO, however, several years ago I changed to a more traditional hard-shell for two reasons: Modern boots are just better. If you really want a very similar boot IMO the Radar boots are essentially the same as the EVO. And the big reason - over time the plastic on the boots would degrade and "rot" from the bottom (I couldn't see it). At least twice I was skiing and my boot suddenly came apart - a horrible feeling that I don't want to ever experience.
  4. I would keep the group small (2-3 max) and pretend like everyone is married to everyone else. For example, use your nice words, be considerate, don't be a jerk etc. Written words/contracts are great but at the end of the day you don't want to rely on them. In a disagreement with small groups of friends/skiers you need to fall back on personal relationships to resolve issues. I would also make sure that everyone in the group has the same mindset about how nice you'all want to keep the boat cosmetically and how the boat is maintained. Example - someone who never wipes down their boat would never be in my group. And make sure insurance is in everyone's name and clearly define who drives the boat. I hope this helps.
  5. I finally gave up on the HO demo program. Supposedly they had a ski for me last week, but again, - no returned emails or phone calls. Huge kudos to Mike and Performance! They're shipping me a Works 02 and as a bonus I'm getting a 15% off discount (July 4th sale). Over the years I've ordered a lot of stuff from Performance and while they don't have a "demo" program they've always worked with me to get me on the right ski.
  6. I'm curious if the people trying the Works 02 or Works 01 used the HO demo program or just bought a used ski? I ask because I've had a really hard time getting any information out of HO. I signed up for the demo program over three weeks ago and they can't give me a timeline.
  7. So I did the opposite - I made the switch from a C85 to a Senate (22). I'm 6'3' 205. Before the C85 I rode a C75. Radar and Denali both make excellent skis. I had a surgery last year that forced me to think about other skis. When I am skiing correctly the C85 has a lot of angle and acceleration (especially off the ball). The Senate isn't as explosive as the C85 but it maintains speed more continuously throughout the course. I love my C85 but at least for me the Senate is slightly easier on my body if I get into trouble.
  8. Maybe I missed this information, however, what are the very basic differences between the Works 01 and 02? I’m not asking about widths etc. I’m asking how they feel and SKI. Is it only stability? Or something else? Maybe a comparable would be the current Vapor Pro Build versus the Senate Pro Build? (I’m on a Senate right now – 34 mph).
  9. You know its the off season when I'm telling a story like this - back in my 20's when I was just learning the course a friend and I went down to a tournament outside Corpus Christi. From what I remember the tournament was on a nasty brackish river that fed into the Gulf. Locals told us that they skied and also fished for Gulf redfish off the starting dock. Conditions were beyond bad - not only a bad wind but huge rolling swells. One by one everyone went down on their opener including all of the top skiers. My friend who had never run 28(36) somehow managed to run his 22 (first person to complete a pass) then fall around 1 ball on his 28. He ended up winning the tournament and taking home a huge trophy. His technique? "I'm young and if I get hurt I'm still drunk from last night". I've never skied in the area since then. Oh, and FWIW Corpus is almost 200 miles from SPI. If anyone does go down to SPI the SpaceX facility is nuts. We drove by there and you can literally get within 150 feet of the rockets. Absolutely no visible security - just crazy.
  10. Since SPI is an island (on the ocean) the wind is non stop. And no one skis. But a beautiful laid back area. We have a beach condo down there. PM me if you have any questions about SPI.
  11. I guess I don't quite understand the problem. Usually when my pass "ends" I'm at the limit of my skiing ability (my hair is on fire). In other words my mental state might not be 100% . No different from judging a trick pass. The judges make a determination and we all move on.
  12. Unlocking my head. Knowing what I need to do physically, however, failing to do so mentally.
  13. I own a 2017 6 litre 200 for skiing the private lake course and a 2017 GS20 for surfing/family use. I had a space requirement so I bought the GS20. The GS20 has 695 hours. My kids and I use the boat a lot. The GS20 works great for surfing. I have friends with other Nautiques, MCs, whatever and the GS20 surfs the same. Exact same wake and feel. If you are a course skier beyond 15 off the GS20 slalom wake is horrible. Don't even bother. It's disappointing that moving forward they're only going to make huge boats that are hard to trailer and keep on a lift.
  14. As @lpskier mentioned watch "Athlete A" or if you want to go really deep "Spotlight". Watching those terrific movies just makes you angry at the abuse that happened. People knew about the abuse and they ignored it. I'd be curious to see how this topic falls out among age groups. I'll bet that the older demographic is complaining whereas the younger people take the course and move on. FWIW I'm 56. I've been involved in Boy Scouts for over 20 years and all adults are required to take a similar course. As the parent of a three kids I just don't understand the resistance for this requirement. Issues such as lack of tournament boats are more important.
  15. @jjackkrash I have a 67" 22 Senate and a friend has a 67" 22 Vapor. Basically the same ski except the Senate is about 1/10 of an inch wider than the Vapor. I'm coming off an older C75. This year I had some surgery in my abdomen and I'm still trying to lose weight from not being active during recovery. And due to the surgery..........I need to be careful getting up. I've ridden both skis and the Senate is definitely easier to get up on. You wouldn't think the extra width matters - but it does. I'm 6'2" 205 (heavy for me) M5 and run -32 on a good day. Stock settings work well for me (I ski occasionally with Trent F. and he turned me onto the ski and size). I DO believe that the ski would perform better once I get down to about 195.
