  1. I am trying to decide on finally replacing my front knee. Is there anyone out there skiing with a total knee replacement?
  2. I just got a custome eagle vest with extra padding in the rib section, feels great and some peace of mind.....I have broken ribs a few times in the last several years so more padding is nice and I dont notice it sking.
  3. thinkin about switching to the reflex....does anyone know the injury history on them. I know nothing works perfectly, but just what are the general issues.
  4. we have a set on a sinkable course. i had to remove the extra floatation and burp them sometimes. i am putting more of the floatation on the arm of the course so it will go up and down and keep the bbbfrom being too high. ours has been in for about half a season and so far no casualties. we just have 6 and not had to replace any. they are a good solution and adds to our comfort level. get em they work.
  5. i have a set of bubble buoys on a sinkable course and we have been pleased with them. used them for about half a season and all is well. there have been several iterations i understand on the initial design.
  6. a pair of soft wileys with orthotics to give edge control will come out. ....use the soft rubber they offer. i have also added a low plastic piece ankle bone high for further edge control, but they feel great with the orthotic, come out easy when i finishe skiing and I dont worry about all this fancy design stuff that may or may not work. my performance is the same as when i used power shell....proof enough for me. being a failed test with a broken ankle is not good skiing.
  7. the Co X is a great ski, the 65 may have been a bit small for me. smaller sweet spot the S1 seems to work a bit better and it is a 66. I would like to demo the A2, but the S1 is the best so far. been running 32s on it and it feels nice, with cold water and rubber, I am likely at my limit at 32 off.
  8. i have just tried the s1 after a few skis testing this fall and so far the 66 S1 is the best for me, turns when i am late, reasonable speed, and smooth, especially support on the weak side turn.....wonder how the a2 will be. there are several aroung tenn that are pb, ing on the s1 so i took a test. on my 5th set, but it is getting cold
  9. i have an accu sink that has been modified to wallys course, works well, use it everyday. there is some maintenance. if you catch it right then all is a 5 to 15 min fix, otherwise, ugh....go to wallys he has thought it out well.
  10. at 34 i have used the smaller one, just stay on edge thru the wakes.
  11. i am running 6.866, 2.491, .751 and 8 deg and it feels pretty good. bindings at 28 7/8 for a 65 in.
  12. i am working on some more fin settings Kris LaPoint gave me....(what a smart guy), so at least will have a base line to go from. had some good sets and few just ok, but the video proved my body position to be way out, so will try again tomorrow.
  13. trying a 65, got it this weekend and a tourney tomorrow, a bit quick but we will see. ....got some good numbers for the 65 ...2.51, .770 and 6.88 8 deg....let me know how you like it.
  14. anyone else on a co x, sl?..... i understand some skiers from coble ski school is on one, i am just trying one out, been windy so not sure but has some great promise.
  15. the "world tournament team" came about because this boat pulled the worlds this year. it is a great boat, refined over the years and well balanced. call me for the white one with red and black accents. 8657555588
  16. used to fly navy fighters, wish i could translate that training to the course.....well i can with my girls, just not to me.
  17. I have been on both, and the Z will continue to arc after the turn, a bit more than the strada, and a bit more forgiving, although many people's style like the strada, the Z is forgiving. Speed wise they are about the same to me.
  18. the hard orthotic is key to it all. mine are custom from a Physical therapist that specializes in runners orthotics. but expensive. you also may consider an off the shelf, the power step is one that is close and has good arch support. super feet in another but is less foot forming. i had wileys build the boot up around these orthotics and it is another world skiing.
  19. thought eddie was going to make a 2011 55 based more on the strada.
  20. If you were a tail rider trying to finish 35, and a buck fifty, co-x or 55?
  21. John, have you tried the co-x with one of your fins to help out the turn? reading betwen the lines it appears that it may be a bit "turn challenged"? comparable to the Senate C, or 55?
  22. This is an evolving issue that is good to discuss so we can continue to get better in our sport. I have one high end daughter skiing a Reflex front and RTP (mid 38 off), another in double Wileys (mid 35 off at 32 mph), one on Powershell and RTP (been injured for a year with ACL) and I am on highly modified Wileys (mid 35 off).....so we are a good test bed, (certainly not on purpose) with the variety we have in the ski locker. If you are RTP or loose rear rubber I think the Reflex has the longest time to update release mechanisms as they started on trick skis where it is a single foot application 3 friends of mine have gotten hurt on front lace up designs that had a heel cup for no heel lift and got seriously got hurt or broke something. I haver had pre releases with a single velcro front and RTP,........ Velcro is likely best for double Powershells on one plate IMHO. I have gone to more supple rubber, with low cut stiffeners about ankle high and a hard formed custom orthotic for support and additional edge control. It is not as good as really tight rubber or hard shells but it is amazing how your body adapts to something just like another ski. For me it actually gives a little forgiveness. Pulling your ski off when you are finished skiing is easy with my set up, yet I have some stiffnes side to side. Some are saying better balance on your ski is the new trend vs high and tight bindings which might have some merit for those that are balanced while skiing, (unfortunately not me)  Also the new T Factor boot has a supple rear vented type heel to allow OTF situations and a bungee lace up to let it flex. If I were to try again, might go that route for me. 2 of my 3 daughters grew up on hard shells and will stay that way but are RTP which complicates the problem. Reflex for one, and looking for the other. Yes Ed, litigious awarenss is good and yet this discussion is also healthy, at least it is for me. thanks to all for your thoughts.Â
  23. I believe it it a blend of load, ie, start the load at the completion of the turn, (make sure it is finished) then progressively load as to explode through the second wake with the ski in front of you bringing on an automatic edge change or transition. what most of us do is load sharply at the end of the turn and then ZO or the boat pulls us out of position by the second wake. watch Parrish and he gets a lot done just in the turn which takes him half way to the white water then he progressively loads into his edge change. I think we can only load for about a second unitl we start to lose it, so you want to "lose it" when you want to anyway or at the transition...this should lead to a great carry out with "free momentum", or a swing with out more work. thoughts?
