  1. I've always skied 36mph skis, but I ski at 34mph... So I am wondering if making my next ski a 34mph ski would be a benefit for me? The question seems to have an obvious answer, but a lot of 34mph skiers are on the premium 36mph skis. For example the radar vapor and Senate.
  2. Thanks for the advice guys. I'll try some of these tips next time!
  3. Does anyone have any advice for giving an absolute beginner a good experience on the water? Things from how to tell them to get up (tips), to how long of a rope, to how strong of a pull up to give them. I know how to ski myself but I've been skiing since I was young so it's natural for me and I'm not sure I have the best way of putting it into words. Also, all I have for skis are a couple slalom skis, some old school trick skis and some old school junior skis that I learned on. I tried skiing on the junior skis today and given that there is no concave on the bottom I found they were pretty difficult to ride on. My two slalom skis are the same length but they are very different skis, have different boots and have about 30 years between them. If I take my wing off and try and line up the boots might that be a better option than the junior skis? I am trying to teach an adult female, who got up today but only briefly.

    Rearview mirror.

Question about PTM, what is the deal with attaching it to the windshield? They appear to sell a bracket as well, but am I going to have to drill new holes in my windshield to attach the bracket?
  5. A handle pop smashed the mirror on my 2001 Response LX over the weekend, so I need a replacement. If I could upgrade to a better mirror with a better field of view that would be cool, but something similar to the stock mirror is fine as I am not looking to spend too much $$. It will be an over the center of the windshield mirror, as I do not have a tower. I'm in Canada. Does anyone know where some good places to acquire a mirror may be?
  6. The Vice is still a very high end / top of the line ski. It's nice that it is a little cheaper than Strada but more than capable for you and you'll save some cash for boat gas or beer.
  7. Thanks for the pointers guys. I'll start calling around.
  8. Merry Christmas Ballers! I am looking for a dry suit for the spring and seeing as most of them are probably not made in the USA and wont fall under NAFTA I was hoping to order from a pro shop in Canada to avoid surprise duty fees. I would consider ordering from US shops if the price savings makes up for the duty or if I am wrong about the duty fees. Using google I've found Hyperactive and Buckeye watersports shops. Are there any other websites (or phone numbers) of ski shops I should consider contacting? Are there any sizing considerations I should make, I have relatively uncommon measurements. I was thinking of going with ONeill still undecided if I want to try and find a hybrid or go with the baggy. 5'6" 160lbs 31" waist 41" chest 24" leg
  9. When it gets cold out I don't want to crash. So I ski differently.
  10. thanks for the suggestion guys
  11. The course on our lake is open to the public and there is a number of inexperienced drivers so our boat guide buoys get slashed open when the boat gets pulled out of the course. Ive tried google and been relatively unsuccessful... what are some places a guy can pick up foam boat guide buoys (or other type that can handle the odd prop slash)? I'm in Canada so that makes things slightly more difficult.

    Boat Advice

People sit in the bow of my response lx all the time. The only reason I would prefer a closed bow is looks and less cleaning.
  13. bhs, it is the number of movements in my opinion. Don't get me wrong those lifts should involved in a strength program, and if you're a beginner lifter and your goals involve putting up big numbers in the gym than it is a good routine. Personally I like hitting muscles from different angles. It is important to train specific and as an athlete I feel it is valuable to include functional movements such as chins, dips, and various plyometrics exercises as well as (but not as frequently) the compound lifts. If all you need to do is push straight ahead then it is golden, but what if you need to push to the side? I also feel agility training is underutilized in almost all gym programs people are doing these days.
  14. As bhs mentioned, mark rippetoe is top notch - he has video on youtube and those will show you how to squat and deadlift. Personally I am not a fan of his routine starting strength though, it isn't balanced.
