  1. This is the same way I did mine except I pulled the hose off the bilge pump to make enough room for the rudder end nut. I used an electrician fish tape and pulled it from the driver's end of the boat. I also had to recenter the steering wheel using an impact wrench to pull the nut off. It was hard to do as it was 98F when I was doing this on my lift in the FL sun....but a wet 50spf shirt made it much easier. Thanks to all that contributed to this thread.
  2. I finally finished our cable in Sunday. Another few tips, I had to take two carpeted panels out and remove the bilge hose out of the hole in the floor. I also ended up cutting the old cable at the rudder end to make feeding a fish tape thru for the new cable. It is shared with wire harnesses and the balance tank hoses. After pulling the bilge hose back out of the hole in the floor and the nut fit thru easier. (I found that there were lots of mud dauber nests in the bow.) Lots of cleaning up afterward. Very satisfying having two finger steering again! Thanks for everyone's help.
  3. oldmanskier: I just removed the drivers seat and disconnected my rack from the pinion gear. I found your number the exact one we need for our boat 2014 5.7L with 1087 hours. We're now in FL for the last 7 years and had been in WI with the layups for the winters. Our steering has gotten very stiff this month. I get the new cable tomorrow. I have done 3-4 cables so far and this one looks easier...but it's not in yet. Before reading about removing the seat I got stuck a couple times. (We're the same age!) I ordered it from Marine Parts Source in TN. Great service!
  4. What is the white foam(?) on the water? Tony said something about the pool being use to clean ski gear after the set?
  5. Where is everyone buying their CP repair parts...I will be in the need for a new shift cable. Websites and DIY info would be great. TIA

    UFP Vault

I've had a boatmate with the vault bearing lube. From what I have seen is the grease turns to liquid (oil) when they get warm. I have found all the parts needed at Pacific Trailer. (I have no connection to them.) I think just keeping an eye on the seals as this seem to be an excellent system.
  7. dchristman , what did you make the cover from? BTW I also use a Reflex 3.0 on slalom and the R rear binding...on an OTF I cut my big toe man are the hard-shell edges sharp...ground down with a Dremel. Ordering a soccer shin guard asap.
  8. Does anyone know the best way to protect the rear shin from the release lever? I've been watching the IWWF U17 trick prelims and finals and notice quite a few wearing what looks like a soccer shin guard on the rear leg. Also any resources for building skills toward larger trick run points (for old man skier.)
  9. Problem solved...you must turn-off pop up blockers.
  10. Anyone else having the privacy setting locking viewing out on webcast? Using windows 10 on laptop.
  11. Loopski, Our previous lift we had the 24 VDC used a Lift Tech panel and two 12 batteries in series on a Shore Station lift. Two years ago we moved into our central Florida home and have the Basta hydraulic lift using a single 12 VDC battery. The system came with a 10 W panel that would not keep the battery charged in winter here. We ski 10.5 months of the year. So I found a 170 W BP used solar panel on FB for $50. I added a cheap solar controller (20 amp,) and it keeps the battery charged year round. The panel is mounted vertically on a post facing East. The panel is 70 feet away from the lift the wiring run in liquid tight conduit to the control box. We replaced the battery this spring after about 4 years. We pretty much use the lift 5 days a week so it is a very robust system and we are very pleased with the system.
  12. Hi pregom, I had a heart attack 8 years ago and my cardiologist insisted on me wearing a helmet. It's because of the possible brain bleed death that could occur before you can get to the hospital. I bought one that is used for whitewater kayaking. They tend to not scoop water in a fall. So far it has been ok even though my skiing has not progressed much this year. (I think that is because of other factors...fitness level dropped.) I do have a few pictures that I can forward to you if you want.
  13. Hey Bananaron, I have a 2013. Last year I took the supplied sand bags out of the boat (now that we live on a FL lake. We have two passengers once a week so we use them as ballast. I keep the fuel tank at 1/4 or less (5 gallons added after two sets.) So I fill the ballast tank till it spills out and the wake is really close to being symmetrical. (I trick and I can use the wake on either side.
  14. Anyone have a men's rear like this for sale? TIA
  15. I am planning to have a partial knee done but it could be a complete knee...help any info on how to get the "best result?"
  16. AS, I Also have the EZ-Slalom course and have been putting it in for 4 seasons. We usually put it in for 24 hours and then pull it out. An experienced crew of 4 is best the night before (a week end,) one driver, buoy handler, rope feeder and a turn arm extender... We install it with a 24' pontoon and it makes it much easier. I also use a large steel hose reel from Sam's club (plumbing side froze,) for the mainline to save time not having the weights get caught in the plastic sides of the reel. I now fill the turn and gate buoys with water to keep them low enough to keep the skis from hooking them. A few things have gotten cut or worn now with almost 5 seasons...the buoy hooks are getting damaged from newbie drivers (cut buoy and bent fish stringer hooks.) Some of the elastic cord also got cut or is wearing out. But repaired with surgical tubing and zip ties...makes a fast repair. There is a permanent course anchors in the lake that we are going to start using as we have run into the shallow water and very high weed growth this year. We also found that you will lose the gates in water over 50' without adding rope on between the course and the anchor. I wish I had order the pre-gates model and not the mini course since the mini is easy to add and we do not use it all that much. I hope this helps there is a learning curve, if you can find someone who has one and go out with then twice you will have a much better idea on how to get it in with less trouble...we have learned not to say it is easy until we are skiing.
  17. Hey to Mike Dunlap and all others whom posted thank you... I would like to know a few more details before go for it...can I get a pull behind one? Also with the PCM engine in the 5.7L does the engine sound quiet or drone like the SN 196? (One more how do trickers like the wake at 17.2mph? TIA IN WI.
  18. Hi I have two of these set-up but I do not use them anymore(went to the Evolution.) The Velcro you are looking for is the VHB Velcro and it is industrial grade. The adhesive will start to let go once a season so it is important to replace it (if you have the ski in the water daily.) You should also pull your ski out and let it dry and not sit in a wet environment when not in use. I hope this helps.
  19. Several skiers on Nagawicka Lake portable course (mine.) Neosho Pond, Sinissippi Lake has a permanent course. Courses in WI are hard to find since the DNR recently cracked down on any course that doesn't have a recent permit.
  20. What is one of the better vest for slalom that can be used within Florida rules? I do not like vest with any buckles and I would like to find one that is comfortable and has large arm holes? I know this will be a very personal choice since fit is probably very important. Right now I am using a comfortable (Helium SWAT,) vest with side zipper and it doesn't have the CG rating or snug enough fit (I am a medium and this is a large.) TIA
  21. Hi I have been traveling down there about 6 times a year now for two years. I purchased a Sportube for $140. The airlines right now charge about $20 each way(tell them it is skis not H2O) as long as you keep it below 50#. I have my vest slalom ski in a ski tog and my trick ski in a tog with one rope, one handle and a shortie wet suit inside=44lbs. I have a TSA lock on it and they usually inspect it...so far there has not been any problems. Also if you want to ship ahead you can go on the sportube web site and get a price from your location to your endpoint but you need an address to ship it to? (ski school?) Good luck and have fun it is always great to ski when all your friends are back home are freezing!
  22. Orlando skiing 1/22 to 1/30 great water. Headed back to the great snow pile...Wisconsin! Had wonderful weather this year and skied on John's Lake, Tibet, Pocket and Sawyer... Water at Tibet was great early in the week and made me hit my PB...but a novice in most eyes. So a short set up Monday(John's,)...slammed the head on the water...no more skiing this month ear drum pieced...
  23. Hi unksskis, I have a couple of trick skis here and it is always a chore for me to get it right...bought a Quantum with the rear holes on the ski for the rtp. Here is a link:http://www.masterlineusa.com/Quantum-Skis/Quantum-Bindings/Dynamic-Rear-Trick-Plate-Binding I also have a Goodman that needs a rear binding but there are no holes for it so I am going to use velcro or Reflex bonds to mount it. I like velcro (industrial strength from Wal-mart) so I can move it into the best position. D3 also has one that I now use on my Quantum...and Trick systems sells the rubber that straps the heel in for inverts (not that I can do them with my back...) http://www.d3skis.com/product-p/94190.htm
  24. So after having a KW show release for many years we may upgrade out boat and change to a newer release. With four or more types of releases available what are the major differences? KW/Robbins/Masterline/ARE/Trick systems vortex. Why would you recommend one over another?
