  1. I ski in Sacramento, not the most humid. You can find 2 long sleeve T-shirts with the Hanes logo at Amazon for about 20. They are lightweight and SPF 50. In addition, I've worn them in Belize in the summer for snorkeling and scuba. They dry fast and no need for sunscreen underneath. They are very lightweight and are made of polyester I believe. And they seem to last. Look up Cool Dry Tshirt.
  2. I've only lost 1 in 15 years or so - an out the front disaster. Otherwise no problems. I don't generally have problems with contacts out of the water unlike some of the people here. I think you'll be surprised how easy it is to get the habit of doing that when needed.
  3. I completely agree with @dvskier. I had the same situation and timing on use of double boot, and went to same combination of Profile and HRTP back binding. Seems to release when it needs to, both feet are comfortable. My back heel has always lifted, which resulted in premature wear on the back binding (or intense blisters on back of heel!) Used the new combination all last year very happy with it, finally feel that variability of back foot placement in binding is no longer an issue. Side benefit is that this combination is somewhat less expensive than dual boot!
  4. Hi All, I have a brand new Malibu Echelon Boat Cover - Grey available. It was a mistake on an order and am willing to let it go cheap! Ordered thru Overton's in January this year - is in NEW shape. I have the "tent" pole and all the straps for it, all not used as well. Fabric is Sunbrella - top of the line from Overton's supplier. My loss is your gain as they say - make me an offer. Eric
  5. The same thought as @wayne and @deke here. Even though we are in a private lake, we are frequently the only boat in the water or at the lake. She had me try a new Eagle vest and it was indeed very comfy. Unfortunately, it wouldn't float me if I even slightly exhaled. It was sold on Ski-It-Again shortly thereafter. I now use an Oneill Outlaw comp vest. It has enough flotation to keep me on the surface. Without passing that test, my wife (and driver of course) would not be driving me in course.
  6. I agree with @thager. You want an 8" model calipers. Amazon has some that won't break the bank - especially given that for most it's not a tool used daily. If you use a wing you'll need the angle gauges like @ToddL notes - although I've wondered if you could use the level app available for smart phones these days.
  7. We have an 05 LXi - agree completely with @mlange‌ on the 3 points. Seem minor, but they are very noticeable. Otherwise a great slalom boat.
  8. What do all of you Quest / Helix users think the Helix does better?
  9. @jayski - here's a link to Goode's site which sold them exclusively as I recall. I didn't punch thru the links to see if it still works. I haven't heard much about these in last couple of years - will be interesting to hear if people are still using them and if they are still available. http://www.goode.com/wsRALEYVENTRAL.html
  10. Allstate - where I have rest of coverage types. Based loosely on numbers I'm seeing here, doesn't seem out of line.
  11. I've left comments about my experience switching to Exo's this year. Took MANY passes - but now I don't think I could give up less control. My ski level is similiar to yours - stick with it. The only thing I really did was double check that front binding back was where my ski mfg recommended it to be. I didn't change anything else.
  12. @lundberg - thanks for comments, good to hear the experience and the lack of injuries! I'm wishing I'd have gone with double cuff at this point. Now that I've acclimated, I do not want to go back - and only will if I get more concerned about safety of the setup than I am now.
  13. I am WAY underneath your target skill set but thought I'd add to benefit those at lower level with my input. I've struggled to find soft shells that let my back heel ride about an inch high - my anatomical defect (back leg .5in shorter). Was most recently on Connoly's - but they didn't seem to last as long for me with way I let heel raise. This spring I switched to EXO Form's. Took me a LONG time to get back to my previous skiing level - but control is incredibly better to my mind. I even took Form's off couple of weekends ago and put old bindings back on- difference felt tangible to me even at my lower skiing level. Aside from the additional control, the bindings are so much more comfortable and warmer. I think many skiers on this forum have commented that most bindings will not reliably release in an OTF. So not sure if that should be a criteria - although would sure be nice. By the way, on the Forms I went with low ankle on back, thinking that would help heal rise issues with back foot. This last weekend I crashed and back foot simply slid out - exactly what I didn't want to happen. I've yet to crash hard enough to get binding bar to release - would like to hear if anyone has experience with that. At my level, it was not worth the switch.
  14. My wife wouldn't let me wear Eagle even in private lake without someone in boat - she wouldn't have been able to get me on platform. I've talked her into letting me try Outlaw this spring looks like a lot more floatation than eagle but not as bulky as Assault vest. I don't see many Ronix vests in CA.
  15. I've sold out - never seen this done anywhere but a private ski lake - it's a dying sport. She should learn to do it on a wakeboard - make more money and give her a chance to convert some of those newby wakeboarders to skiing.
  16. I wear soft contacts - have never had one pop out or "wander" during passes. Only issue was several years ago when just starting took some pretty bad head firsts - lost a couple of contacts that way. I do keep my eyes closed during start - but I always supposed most people did until they got out of most of spray.
