  1. Jamie B also ran 41 in Charleston and I believe it was before the France deal. This would have been with PP. Wade Cox also had a 5.5 somewhere in there in Charleston.
  2. @lpskier I quit counting after about 10, Terrance and I were talking about it last year I was guessing well over 200, 98% of those are from @adamhcaldwell . I asked Adam a few years ago and he said he stopped counting at 50. Since then there are multiple days of 3, 4, 5 in a row. Just to be clear I assume you are talking about driving, my personal count on running them behind the boat is very easy to keep up with :smile: By the way he runs them behind at least 2 others at our site. The real question is how many has Adam run?
  3. @mike_mapple I know you know. The first person I ever pulled through 41 was your dad, and it was the only time I ever drove him. It was when he brought you to our site for a tournament because he said you wanted to ski there. He wasn't even planning on skiing but we talked him into it for our own selfish reasons.
  4. Driving -41 is hard, really really hard, driving it perfect is even harder. I have no idea what it feels like on the handle end but from the drivers side it is a mix of anticipation and reaction. Many of the drivers only get to practice driving it (-41) in tournaments and usually in a foreign to them boat. When the skier turns the backside of a buoy at -41 or -43 the boat will get pulled to that buoy side (unless the anticipation is perfect) then the driver is trying to put the boat back center, if he misses center he will either be with the skier or against the skier. My preference is that if I am not center ( which is the idea) I would rather favor the skier...I would guess most drivers feel that way. So when they are off at ultra short rope it usually favors the skier. Not sure how many drivers can pull skiers through -41 but the list is short, sometimes it doesn't look pretty. Driving -41 is nothing like driving -38. I don't know who the driver is here (actually I might) But he/she has probably been in the boat for an hour or more locked in to giving each skier the best pull they know how to give. I know there are drivers who make -39 look like -38, I don't think the video above reflects that.

  6. About 20 years ago, I lived in that spot for rent. I didn't have Adam Caldwell as a ski partner then but if you are a skier, this is one of the best spots on the planet.
  7. Not being a pilot and in reading this thread, it makes me wonder, does driving a boat well (lets just say record tolerance -41) require more precision that landing a plane? Just wondering.

  9. It’s a medium and I’m around 163 pounds. When I ask what flex it is, Adam tells it’s a good one. I assume it’s the record flex. Most numbers they give me work. I’ve been all over the place on setups, every time I get a setup I like, then he gives me another one and I like that as well or better. This ski works all over the place.

  12. I have a very cut down version homemade R-style and generally run the same numbers as Adam Caldwell who has a toe loop. When I ran double hardshells, I could not ride the same numbers.

  16. It would be hard to imagine getting better support than you get from Denali Skis. I have witnessed @adamhcaldwell try so many different boot combinations to find comfortable settings for whatever the combination is, but the most entertaining stuff is when he tries to emulate inefficient body alignment to figure out how to help someone with setup.
  17. Complicated answer, I had reached a point of chronic back pain limiting my skiing and when I could ski was in pain and would ski very few passes. Made the switch to reflex supershell 2 with an r-style rear. I was fortunate to have Adam Caldwell's major input and expertise in that transition and the modifications to the equipment. It took me about 8 sets for it not to feel incredibly awkward, mainly due to the looseness in the heel of the back foot. I would say I'm still adjusting a little to the ability to move in ways that were being limited by the confinement of the back foot's influence over the ski. My consistency has gotten better, my skiing has gotten better, my scores should be better based on what I'm feeling and how I'm seeing things in the course but I've changed a lot of things in the last year. The real answer I think is that I wished I would have done it 10 years ago and would do it again in a heartbeat.
  18. Went to an R-Style from a full rear hardshell, took me about 8 sets to feel somewhat comfortable. Happy I made the move and would do it again.
  19. Due to 1 particular driver I got in a tournament 15+ years ago, the first thing I say is "In Gear".
  20. They were all my fault....except for that time an alligator popped his head up at the base of the jump just as I was approaching.
