  1. My family did a week on the main Salomon, kids 12 and 13 years old. It is no problem with a good guide company. The later in the summer you go the lower the flow. Go through the wilderness on the Salmon is an awesome lifetime adventure.
  2. it sounds like some folks in here think that maybe they could run 39 if they had the right stick......but the reality is if you are not running 38 consistantly and easily on a stick off the shelf then you are probably not going to be running 39 on Chris Parrishes ski either. IMHO Having the perfect setup on the ski you have .......and being a world class athlete have more to do with the scores.
  3. @ Horton - are you still on the RS-1 boots.....and if so, are you measuring to the threads by the heal? or ?
  4. @Horton, Do you know the flex numbers? Who should I buy one from?
  5. @skijay.....obviosly she has not surpassed daddy in score.....but taken the videos above.....i would rather ski like her......I bet if someone in here did some relative analysis of a 70 lb (guessing 4'10"ish) score vs a 6'3 adult score, she would win .......bottom line pound for pound......not many in here would want to mess with her.
  6. A couple of observations: First, Pupil has surpassed the teacher. Second, strength to weight ratio. Third, the hip-counter rotation...crazy. Forth, very nifty reaching motion. I would be willing to be she is self-driven, crazy competitive and very smart......I am raising a daughter like this too.....her sport is soccer.
  7. latley it been coaching kids and 12oz curls.
  8. The marine starters are not too expensive.......but be sure it is not just the solenoid.....it costs $20 and is real easy to replace. It is mounted on the bracket that holds all the circuit breakers and computer module at the back of the motor....not on the starter. I made this mistake this summer....replaced starter and still nothing....ended up being the solenoid. Good luck.
  9. Interesting observation from the bracket showing which were the Goode riders. The top half of the bracket had only 1 non-Goode skier, Todd Ristorcelli. And the bottom half has only one Goode rider.......and he advanced. I am not on a Goode.....but their results are hard to argue about.
  10. Hello Gregy, I don't chime in a whole bunch, but, run like the wind from the MB. I have had many ski boats over the past 25 years. The only brand I hate is the 2000 and 2002 190's I had. Tracking was horrific and they cavitated like crazy around the turn Island.....yes the boat was slowed to normal turn speeds. I got what I thought was a bargain on a 2000. It had too many issues to list. But the cavitation could never be solved. So Mr. Brendella let me order another brand new boat......wow...I thought it was my lucky day. But it had the same cavitation issue. It also had a major wiring problem with the perfect pass and a manifold hose that came off the first day I used it. So after much wasted time and frustration and Mr. Brendella saying that they knew the cavitation would be there but that they decided it was a worthy trade off for the chine spray benefits......?????? What the???? is what I thought. So I sold it to a guy who lived on a big lake and did not mind the cavitation.......he got a steal on the boat.....i was just happy to be done with MB. I currently have a 1999 Ski Nautique with a GT-40. For the money you can not beat this machine for course skiing. It does everything good and and is hassle free. Good luck......but stay with a boat from the big 3....Correct Craft, Mastercraft or Malibu.
  11. My $0.02, I have simple idea that could work if people can keep secrets. The first premise is unlikely but I'll continue. The high end slalom waterski community is a small group. Everyone who is anyone in this sport knows everyone who is anyone. There are a small number of companies that dedicate to development of these specialty skis. The absolute failure, or a bad review in this format could probably kill one of these companies.  As John has eloquently wrote, there is no perfect ski for everyone. I am quite sure I would hate Jamie's ski.....or Andy's ski......or .....Katrina's ski...... Now to my point. The only way that there could be any hope of getting the unbiased report on a ski would be to have the individuals doing the testing to stay annonymous. Then they would not have to worry about any backlash from the "community". The next part would be for the report to stay on a forum that has no financial incentive to worry about pissing off any particular ski company. Maybe Schnitz could do this.......he doesn't mind pissing people off ? My last thought is that based on the fact that my idea is not likely. And based on all the ruffled feathers about the reviews. Maybe it isn't unreasonable to think that maybe they are a waste of time. And ......the time should be spent on trying the skis yourself. After all.........do we really want to know that if we just spend $3K that we will add a buoy or 2? That may just be torture.
  12. OK.....this will really depress you all..........it is not even friggin' winter yet. Not till December 21 (or close to that). Actually Washington has had the best Fall I have ever seen........the irony is that the good weather started the day I ruptured my achilles. So for now I am working on......well.....walking. And when I am resting from that activity......I throw up as I turn on CNBC and see the DOW down another 700pts........Happy Holidays......try not to get trampled racing into Walmart for the sweet deals on TV's.
  13. Sorry to hear of another Achilles victim Scott. Is this the same side as your first rupture? What kind of fall did it rupture on? Was it your back foot? My e-mail is craig4900@comcast.net ...........what is yours? We could compare rehab notes. (probably to boring for this forum) Best wishes back at you for your surgery and recovery!!!!!
  14. One way to take the perception out of the equation would be to use a strain gauge. I like the notion of any given speed/length has a finite length of load or would it also be fair to call this the acceleration phase? It appears to me....as so many things inthis sport.....that there is a reverse logic that happens as the rope shortens. It seems that the acceleration phase becomes shorter as the line gets shorter.........is that true and how does that make sense? Also, aside from any one persons perception as to what they feel is happening.......there is no way I can be convinced that most of the pros....at 38 and beyond are not hooking up and loading a significant amount. These threads are great.......as I am hurt and winter is looming.....I need to get my visual as good as possible so that the 10,000 mental sets I take this winter are on the right track.
  15. Maybe someone can just direct me to another great thread about theories about the point of hooking up. From the discussing about edge change.....and casting out or carry out, I was very impressed with Bruce Butterfields, John Miller's, and David Nelson's and I think Thomas Wayne had a great piece as well. So it seems to me that the latest theories suggest that we should try and finish the turn by carrying as much speed through the finish of the turn and try to hook up and load as late as possible. I think Chris Rossi even said that he was trying to refine his skiing to the point that he would never hookup. Maybe I am conceptulizing (sp?) this wrong but it seems that the acceleration phase starts with hooking up. So if we are trying to hookup later and edge change earlier than there is not much distance to accelerate? So is it more correct to think that we need to apex wide and early of the ball and finish the turn with angle and speed......but it is OK to hook up near the buoy?  Looking forward to your ideas.ÂÂ
