  1. @skierjp I am in the same boat as you and have been fortunate to be a senior driver and most placed comp my entry and hotel for the event. I such case, I wouldn't ask or expect additional compensation. But that is not the case at all sites, I had one of our Malibu Promo guys who was asked to bring a boat to an event in the southern region. The guy traveled 3 hrs each way to get the boat too and from the tournament. The LOC wanted to charge him and entry and my understanding was that they told him he gets credit to bring the boat. The credits he is referrring to don't even cover the cost of fuel to get the boat to the event. Boats are more expensive and the guys that are willing to purchase and provide the boats should have a way of being compensated. Although most places I go to that was just the normal, it is not the case everywhere. This new policy in place actually protects the interest of the promo boat owner that is willing to continued to fork out the cost to stay in the program. My guess is most of the people in the southern region that voted against the policy are not promo boat owners and have not forked out the cash to provide the boats for the use of the organization. As a promo boat owner, I would prioritize the LOC that were appreciative for me providing the boat. Fortunately I have always been treated great by the places I usually take my boat.
  2. Been using this system as well. It’s just that easy. Set it up and go. The boat bath monitoring systems are definitely the future of skiing. @Horton is right. Makes driving fun as well
  3. @Skoot1123 we will be at the Ski club of Miami the following weekend
  4. @Bruce_Butterfield agreed. But should people pay money to ski behind mediocre drivers if there are better ones available. New up and comers that don’t get in the boat because of the politics of driving. I think the up and comers are going to welcome this technology and use it to get better. Personally I am 100% in favor of it. I do not want to even drive or ski a practice set without it. Great tool for skiers to see what’s happening during their good or bad set. Almost all drivers that I have introduced to it love it and want to use it. I think this will only give us all a better ride. It will also as you mentioned weed out some of the senior drivers that don’t drive and need to sit aside for someone that is working at it. This may be the tool to encourage those to give up the seat.
  5. According to the discussions I believe a world record can achieved under the current rules proposal. @Bruce_Butterfield I had the opportunity to watch a couple of drivers pull Mongo at a tournament In November he was very close to breaking and even tied his national record. All of Mongo’s paths were in tolerance according to sure path. I have had the opportunity to watch the judges screen display for several tournaments in the southern region where sure path has been utilized and I think you would be surprised at the drivers performance. This will come into play when you have drivers at a tournament who don’t typically drive short line skiers and don’t have the experience to keep it in tolerance. I think this will encourage the LOC’s to put the best drivers in the events with the more skilled skiers. Keep in mind that re-ride potential is for beyond 38 off as I understand the rules. I could be wrong. @Bruce_Butterfield I know we have both been to tournaments where the best drivers were not allowed as asked to drive the events. Sure path will let you know instantly who should or should not be driving the better skiers. If I am the chief driver and I have a driver who can’t keep it in tolerance that driver will be replaced based upon live data. People have been hesitant not to pull a driver in the past. Now it will take feelings and friendship out of the decision. Screen says red over and over. Sorry but it’s time to replace you. Not your day today
  6. The one re ride was established by the IWSF. It was based upon a situation that has already occurred where a skier had multiple opportunities at a world record attempt due to boat path. Keep in mind that the 20 cm is towards the skier. So as Horton pointed out. That’s nearly 8 inches to the favor or the skier. It’s 20 cm left and right of center line. So it’s a lot of room This is an opportunity for the organizers to place the best drivers in the boat and make sure the right guy is in the boat and take the politics out the equation.
  7. JR was a tremendous asset to the sport and a lot of fun. Always a good story to tell . Always made you feel like part of the family at Ski Chaste. Condolences to Ann and the entire Ski Chaste group.
  8. @klindy When will these scores be adjusted on the AWSA rankings list? IWSF has already done so!!!
  9. @scoke. Are you saying that 52% is systemic?
  10. @Horton i understand the rule. But if we are proceeding and relying on these systems to determine the re ride I am just telling you the gate is not tracked. Along with anything between the zones
  11. @horton and @ms you may find it very interesting that the exit gate deviation is not measured for any record or anything else. Pretty sure sure path isn’t measuring it either.
  12. they have not made that offer. @The_MS almost did that the night before the thing got cancelled on us. They were not really supportive of that solution
  13. @teammalibu no doubt about that. I wish someone would clear up those water issues in Milwaukee. Was such a great venue for the Malibu Open. Tons of support from the local ski community year after year.
  14. @Stevie Boy The entire lineup of Goode skis cost $2490 with the new carbon core construction. Skis take much longer to build and limit the amount of skis we can produce. As far as the demo program goes. If you want to demo a ski send me a pm and I will guarantee that you can return and be refunded at the end of the period if you are not satisfied with the performance of the ski.
  15. @teammalibu the tracking system is linked to the live scoring. The judges will see the screen with the deviations. It will also be green if good or red if not
  16. While I am no part of the rules committee I will offer this as insight. I have been involved in conversations with those responsible for drafting the rules associated with sure path or any boat tracking technology. The discussion involving re rides has been in discussion and I know they are discussing re rides from 38 off and beyond. This is certainly not official but those in the discussion are not looking to be unreasonable It is my opinion that they are not introducing this to make life more difficult however just the opposite. As kelvin can tell you. It takes hours to download end course video and to upload for review. The sure path is easy to load the data. It is also great for drivers that want to improve.
  17. I echo what Horton says. Will make drivers better and you will be able to evaluate what moves you are making before and after the buoy to help you as a driver provide a more rhythmic pull.
  18. @lpskier you are correct regarding the current world records. Both of them are around 15 cm cumulative deviation well below the current allowable deviation. As you have said there is no real definition of pattern driving and I think with sure path it becomes a mute point. Keep it under 49cm and you are good. Although I hear those across the pond are still looking at the pattern driving discussion which would be as you mentioned +5 all the way down. Personally I don’t think it’s possible to shoot for that but if you can then good on you. I think with sure path the driving will become much better across the board.
  19. I think the difference between the single puck versus the dual puck is quite large. I can tell you that at least two boats in my area with the dual pucks are showing the date from the gps system as the year 2000. It also only picks up 5 to 7 satellites mostly with no differential. To check put the unit in practice mode and look at the top Just additional information regarding some of these dual puck systems
  20. Bud Raley, father of “Chet Raley” and 2 time waterski national champion, two time national record holder and multiple time regional champion passed away on December 23, 2020. The Raley’s wanted the waterski family to know that he is skiing in the heavens today.
  21. It does tie into the waterski connect system and at the end of the event you can download all of the data from the event. Much quicker than looking through hours of end course video
