  1. I’m very late adding to this thread… I had the good fortune to ski with @m_pags a couple weeks ago. Mark has a great set up here! My wife and I were the only ones there at the time. Mark took us on a little boat tour of his site, then I got in a quick set. Even though it’s “out in the middle of no where”… it’s such an awesome site, and Mark is such a gracious host, I’m sure there will be a thriving club there in no time! Truly worth the trip if you’re in the area.
  2. It would be interesting to know the backstory on this… Also, Joel’s reaction as he goes through the exit gates. Pretty big deal to run 41 no matter the circumstances.
  3. I skied an open water set in northern PA on a flood control reservoir. Air 70, water 63. Could very well be my last time till a February trip to Florida.
  4. Almost immediately after Connelly introduced their versa tail, Jason was experimenting with self designed 3-d printed tails.
  5. Part of the celebration after Joel’s 41.
  6. As @SteveB said getting there early will give you a nice choice of trees! Also during slalom, the USA waterski tent is about mid-course, you can probably duck in there for some shade. I’ll be heading back to the great white north on Monday, won’t see any sun for 11-1/2 months, so I won’t be taking up any shady spots!
  7. Thanks for the heads up! Challenging weather conditions for the organizers for sure.
  8. We saw @lpskier and @GWaterski today at Jacks!
  9. Saw some jumping yesterday. It will be interesting to see how the top ladies handle a strong cross wind in the course this morning! Unfortunate weather predictions for today and tomorrow!😔
  10. Old boats… learned to ski behind the 14’ PennYan trail boat in 1968, when I was 8 years old. After that I was skiing behind the ‘63 Chris Craft custom ski boat till 1971. Sadly that beautiful boat left the family after 1972. I didn’t ski behind the white PY outboard in the lift or the neighbors ’49 CC also in the pic.
  11. Even though it’s not exactly what you’re looking for, Cory Vaughan operates “Peace Love and Waterskiing” in Bumpass VA. Great place to get coaching!
  12. Tournament and practice PB are one in the same. The first time I ever ran a 32 was in a tournament, I ended with a score of 1@35. That was about 10 years ago. I have matched that score a handful of times since in practice and tournaments. Not much progress over the years due to the fact I don’t have access to a course.
  13. I’m much better at skipping rocks than going around buoys. I might have a chance of getting on TV yet!
  14. Several years ago, I skied at a short lake with an overlapping 8 ball course. They used a noodle at the “0” ball, with only 6” or so above the surface. Not at all intimidating when setting up for the gates, plus it was still an adequate marker as a five ball coming back the other way. Pretty good solution, as long as you’re not using it as a tournament lake.
  15. Thanks Mike! I was actually going to start reaching out to a few places this week. As you can see from my BOS name, I certainly don’t want to be in the way of anyone that’s skiing in the tournament.
  16. Would like to glom on to @Cooper_Trelawney’s original post. We’re planning on a Florida trip centered around seeing some of the Worlds. I’m also hoping on doing some skiing while there. My concern is with all the elite skiers in the area, that many of the most popular “ski schools” will be booked up with skiers preparing to compete. Anyone with some insight as to who I should contact first?
  17. I haven’t been able to find a pull in Charleston since pre covid. There might be something going on at Trophy in the summer. My visits are limited to October or April/May.
  18. I have a ‘92 ProSport 205, bought new and used exclusively on public water. The 205’s were a great option for an open bow tournament type boat back in the day. The slalom wakes are very close to the PS 190’s of that era. I guess they were pretty good for wakeboarding too, as they were used for the wakeboarding exhibition on the “pro tour”. Great family boat, but horrible in rough water.
  19. Wow! Mediums are sold out!😭
  20. Are they even still skiing at TL? Doesn’t appear as though you can “book a set” online, plus I have tried emailing twice in the last 3 weeks, no reply.
  21. For the Denali, is the right (or left) foot forward difference only a matter of the fin?
  22. Lida Falls ski club on “Cow” lake near Greenville SC.
  23. Nice shot @Web hardly qualifies as “bad weather”!
