  1. Ill throw in one more, in my many many years of coaching wakesurfing (Skydiving, snowboarding, hockey etc) the biggest and most effective tool in my toolbox has always been DRYLAND TRAINING. get him to practice his body position and stance on the dock, the more time you spend there the better the result. Some people have a very hard time concentrating on tasks and tips while in/on the water, if he can practice on land you eliminate all the other factors that generally distract you from completing tasks. This is massively important in skydiving as you generally only get about 50 seconds per jump to work on skills or complete tasks (and flying thru the air at 100mph is so fun you forget your first name). Work on muscle memory, getting into the right positions, where your weight should be and what you need to think about next. repetition repetition repetition!!! i would suggest practicing his stack and mental progression in the boat each time before he gets in the water. This generally helps my most difficult clients the most. Good luck!
  2. In my experience, although limited, the response at 15 off was one of my favorites, maybe not the smallest but the softest and easiest to cross for sure. My Brendella shortline comp comes in second, Ive always found the bubble butt nautiques and pretty much all of the newer boats a bit more robust at the 15 off mark. Im only a few seasons into skiing the course so take that into consideration but I am really sensitive to the wakes (probably because my technique is lacking)
  3. If you want a case study on how to destroy a sport with corporate greed and mismanagement, look at stand up jetskiing. One of the biggest motorsports in the 80's and 90's, then the governing body (controlled by the manufacturers) moved the racing regulations to support the sit-down racing and the ads and promotions to follow; (because of the bigger margins) completely killed stand up jet skiing. So effectively in fact that most people thought they stopped making them. (they didn't). I feel like skiing is doing the same.. without an organization that promotes new engagement and shows some flexibility (and innovation) in the types of events held, I don't hold much hope for skiing as a whole.
  4. that view!! Amazing where is that?? Id love to do a set there!!
  5. so is a tower on a ski boat, but I see one on the ball of spray prostar....
  6. 22 radar vapor graphite 67 $700 also if anyone wants a brand new in box 23 vapor pro 67 I have one for 1600
  7. they work great, nautique brought thier new paragon to kelowna in one, it was pretty easy to launch, and use. If your lake is on a gravel road, or you live in canada where highways are long and usually dirty this would be a lifesaver!
  8. We would use a motion activated sprinkler for our docks and beaches, also used them to keep deer away but some deer just don't give a f%$#@. the geese dont like getting wet lol maybe someone could put together a battery powered version for a jump. would work great to make sure the whole ramp gets wet as well! It would only need to run for 20 seconds at a time!
  9. Well, after waiting out the last cold snap, about a week of -2 to -8C , went to ski last weekend and started out with a dead battery, that morphed to a new alternator, and has now evolved into a new electrical ignition as well. Parts are on order but Im draining the block. I think Im done. 😒
  10. also just wanted to give a thumbs up for Mastercraft, really nice to see the industry supporting the sport that started it all regardless if they sell anymore boats. Are we going to see a Joel Poland edition prostar?? The Nautique regatta this year they didnt even have a ski boat to show or demo. That being said they did bring Erica Lang which was awesome and the whole event was great but apart from 1 trick demo behind a GS 23, there was 0 skiing happening.
  11. I find the whole "record towboat" thing hiliarious, all that bullshit so you can put a sticker on the back that says world record towboat, Im not a marketing guy but i doubt it has swayed a customer one way or the other.. maybe back in the day when there was 10 companies making ski boats but that was a LOONG time ago. any other guesses does anyone know what ANY skiier makes off a contract im sure there is a few nuggets of info out there I have 0 reference in the industry.
  12. @dave2ball I disagree, I think its exactly what this forum is about! any guesses?? Im gonna say around the. $150 000 mark (plus boat and perks) but I have 0 reference in this..
  13. that is 22' off, at 32mph your gonna be eating the worst part of the wake, 15 off or 28 would be a better choice but you have to learn how to cut through the wakes anyway so... whatever you feel is best, Personally I would go back to 15 off, there is more time for everything. Practicing your body position on dry land is gonna be a huge help for you in my opinion, if the wakes bother you, go to 28 off.
  14. are you skiing 22 off? how fast? I cant imagine thats an ideal rope length for your learning. Nice job anyway! This is the hardest part once you figure out the body position and the pull everything gets easier! meaningful practice and dryland training are your biggest tools for improvement. video helps a ton as well! Logging your progress is a huge tool as well, keep a log and write notes on each set if you are serious about improving.. this is a proven method.
  15. individual anchors would negate the cable being caught and ill say it again no way a bouy caught in a driveline would make the bow dive.
  16. I can tell you almost definitively, it was not the course. the rest of the course did not move. I find it hard to believe a bouy caught in the driveline would cause the bow to dive. Looks like the reverse is the most likely explanation.
  17. Condolences my friend. Ill do a pass for terry tomorrow.
  18. thanks everyone!! day 3 of fire watch and the fatigue is setting in. That being said my community is safe for now barring any wind events, no structure losses or large fires (we have put out about 6 spot fires) so far. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for now we are doing well.
  19. Well ballers just asking for your positive thoughts and or prayers as I sit here watching the fire get closer and the helis doing laps off the lake. Hopefully they can stop them but the winds are not co-operating. Ellison lake is right in the crossfire Im hoping I dont lose everything, going to soak the boat down again and anchor it in the middle of the lake. Thanks guys !
  20. Im just gonna say it.... Its most likely your technique, not the wakes. 28 is better but nothing will fix a broken stack coming across the wakes. A new prop is a great improvement in general performance but the difference in the wake is mostly cosmetic i.e it wont make the wake smaller, you could even get yours rebuilt by a good prop shop, there are a few wizards out there...
  21. I liked the Hyperlight vest not exactly sure the model, it was ok for skiing as far as the bulky vests go. Why the change?
  22. I Have a 21 vapor lithium 67" in kelowna BC great shape $950
