  1. I really liked my 02 Malibu wakesetter xti with the ski hull. i bought it new with a third tracking fin and upgraded and lighter engine i added perfect pass. it's 22'6" and has wakeboat like "stadium seating." it ski's well up to 4 people. Its solid in the chop, the bow's 6 inches or more higher than my prostar. it holds a dozen people . I think it'd be perfect for you. I still ski behind it because I sold it to a friend.
  2. I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. It ended up being a throttle positioning servo/motor. IT could also have been anything else like the ski throttle position sensors, throttle position sensors, computer etc. I'm going to agree that you need to go to the dealer for this one. In my case, there were no codes thrown so it's likely in your case to be upstream of the computer output. It's always worth checking the cap and rotor and fuel filter if there is one.
  3. i like p90x. you'll eventually want a dumbell set (bowflex or similar), a mat and a chinup bar. its a good cost efficient workout.
  4. I'm a doctor, my wife is a physical therapist. I've got some arthritis L4-L5-S1. In an effort to get ready for ski season, I wrecked my lower back doing the core synergistics and yoga in p90x. I tried to (snow) ski on it and ended up not being able to weight bear. I tried a chiropractor (friend of mine and valedictorian of his class) who first got my SI joints and vertebrae back in line a (helped a lot and relieved spasm of the para spinal muscles) but then ended up putting me on a rack. Like inversion it puts traction on my lumbar spine, separates the vertebrae then he pulls it side to side. He has also an inversion rack but didn't use it on me. I never really had any neurological symptoms but I was really happy with the results of his treatment. I'm back to my chronic baseline, I still make some noise when I bend over but can generally stretch it out. I made it out skiing by Mid January and got 250k vertical feet in before the season ended (today). I still go back for an occasional touch up. Yes there's precious little hard data for any of these treatments but its worth a try and sure beats surgery.
  5. I loved the open water wakes of my 2002 Malibu Xti. It's pretty good in the course as its a DD and I had the 3rd fin added. Because its 22'6" and has wakeboard like seating, its a cool boat and handles the chop way better than anything else, similar to a 22' I/0.
  6. i saw this thread late . like old jeep i had a 2013 malibu 20 vtx (kind of similar to yours)and filling the front ballast tank is critical to flattening out the boat. also every mph above 32 minimum helps tremendously. There also likely is a sweet spot at 15 or 22 off. unfortunately the Nautique is probably heavier (similar to later vtx's) and the slalom wake in my friends '18 nautique is not good. This year i threw in the towel and bought a new prostar and separate wakeboard boat. about the only crossover for 80% slalom might be a malibu xti, which i really liked but they were not popular and were discontinued more than 10 years ago. second best might be a 2013-2015 malibu vtx with a full front ballast tank. that boat also surfs reasonably well. to answer your question you need at least 100lbs in the bow and if you're not in the course or you're really good ski at 34+ mph. if you pick up a used malibu crossover, make sure it has the slalom or 3-D hull. you don't want a wake hull.
  7. I think she just sold a bunch of Camaro wet suits....thanks.
  8. Yes, @horton is right about the crate engine pricing and that website does appear real and since it was only used for a piece of information I had no reason to check it. Mastercraft has an exclusive marine engine agreement with Ilmore and Mastercraft sets the price. More information on the actual cost difference in price of the 6.0 vs 6.2 might be obtained by evaluating differences in dressed crate motor pricing of similar GM engines, but thats for a different thread.
  9. I made the decision and went with the MC prostar. I got a june build when ordered in early September. I probably overpaid by 5-10 K but to answer your question I got 21.75% off the list. This deal is nowhere near as good as the advertised 75K with a stereo on the trailer. I also had to forego the lighter and more powerful and efficient Di motor as they wanted 10k more as opposed to Malibu that upcharges 6k or ilmore themselves who charge about 1k more. I got the best deal on a response and the worst deal on the nautique 200 which is in need of a refresh. Production slots are extremely limited for all ski boats but this is the first year that this problem exists.
  10. It may be worth a look at the Goode power vest. It can be a bit awkward at first, particularly getting the strap length right but it really does help to unload your back. (Dave Goode developed it for his back issues) Abdominal exercises and yoga help (I use the old p90x ab ripper X and yoga and x stretch but don't overdo it (once a week for each)
