  1. I gave up the ankle brace after one full season. It took me a while to get comfortable again. My ankle was ready long before I was. Unfortunately it took me a whole season to really get back to pushing myself again, but these days I pretend it never happened.
  2. How is the flotation on these compared to other vests? I love my other stokes products and think its time to get a new vest and these are on the short list.
  3. I have a union I bought a couple of seasons ago as my beginner slalom ski. Its a great ski and turns great. Tried out a senate this year and liked it a lot and will likely upgrade soon but I am glad I started with the Union. It was perfect to learn on and now feel more confident going into a higher end ski.
  4. @Horton sounds like your opportunity to cash in on your carbon fins!
  5. I made the same mistake two seasons ago and had the same injury. I use the Radar Vapor boot and tighten just enough that it still comes off when I want it to, but not so tight that I can break a bone.
  6. @teammalibu could you send me the info about the course on the upper fox? Sounds like that might be the closest course for me being in the Milwaukee area. @newskierinwi we are in Oconomowoc, about 45 mins outside of Madison. No course but we ski quite a bit if you want to connect!
  7. I would love to get a stokes, but I need a large as well. Hoping they can get some product back in stock soon. I have loved the 3/4 wetsuit I got from them!
  8. Any idea if stokes Evo will get more sizes in? They seem to be backordered for a long time.
  9. I will be in Lake Tahoe for work later in august. Any courses or schools nearby to get a set or two in?
  10. I did something similar to you last season. A lace up ankle brace fit inside my radar boots fine and was very helpful. But it was a solid month before I skied, and even then I was only gently skiing, just to be in the water. Took 3 months before I was truly comfortable.
  11. I have the radar x vest 3.0. It’s extremely comfortable and not overly bulky at all. My only complaint is the amount of water it takes on. The vest is substantially heavier when you take it off and drips off for a long time. Currently considering a stokes for empty mornings on the lake. Will still use the radar for busy days when the tubers come out.
  12. @Than_Bogan if you feel the need to support the company but do not have a use, I am sure some underprivileged BOS members who do not have access to the course would gladly use it for you ;)
  13. @Stevie Boy I have been listening to their podcast recently and it does have lots of good info! I will make sure to keep using that as a tool. @Windsurfnut and @UWSkier between the tape and the flags this seems like a great idea. Between those two this should accomplish what I am looking for. Thank you for all the help!
  14. Hello all, Had the opportunity to try a course for the first time and absolutely loved the experience. It is something I plan to try and do more often, but that will require quite a bit of travel as we do not have any options nearby. Are there any tricks to making sure while free skiing I am practicing getting enough width? In the absence of a course, I would at least like to get used to skiing out to the right width of the boat. Has anyone had any success of somehow marking on the boat the angle in which the line should be at a given line length to make it to the buoy line? I know an off course is an option, and I may go that route, but until funds are available, I am wondering if there is something else I can do to make sure I am practicing well to make the most out of future course experiences?
  15. We mainly ski on middle and lower Genesee. Thinking about the off course as well. Just have not pulled the trigger yet.
  16. Anybody know if this course got put in this year? I drove out again in May and it wasn't there yet. Hoping it gets put in, as we are looking for a course to ski that is reasonably close.
  17. I drove out there last weekend and the dock was in at the boat launch but still no course. Would love to know if anyone had any other updates.
  18. Is the transmission an issue on the 14 pro stars if it has the 6.2 engine? Looking at a good deal at the moment and trying to decide if it’s worth picking up. Would be running at sea level. Almost exclusively would be used as a slalom boat.
  19. @Horton if you say "Yes it is really a V shape" I think that is why we are comparing it to the Denali, as my understanding is that's a V shape too. If you find them dissimilar I would be curious as to why? I have lots to learn about ski design and would be curious to know what I am missing here.
  20. Hello all, First time posting here but I have been reading for a long time. I took a bad OTF fall last week and have a group three sprain in my right ankle. Wondering if others who have had bad ankle sprains in the past have used any braces on ankles after a sprain while skiing? Any tricks to getting back on the water sooner? Looks like I need to not have my vapor boots as tight as they were since my foot got stuck half way out as I went down.
