  1. @Horton I appreciate the tip. We got our 11-year-old daughter Radar TRA for her upcoming birthday, which is a big step up from using the combo ski with the toe strap. Thanks!
  2. I need to stretch more than I usually do before a set, which is never.
  3. First time ever skiing in the winter. Lake temp was was 46 degrees. Happy New Year!
  4. @Horton finding BOS coincided with me getting back into this sport. It's helped me with my technique and with updating my gear. So thanks for that.
  5. I had to have it done in one eye a couple of years ago. The surgery was in February and I was cleared to ski by the time slalom weather came around (usually early to mid April). Good luck to you.
  6. @Horton Looking back at the calendar this year, I would estimate I skied 40-50 sets. I'm 160 lbs and generally ski -15 off/34 mph. On a good day I push it to -22 off.
  7. Piggy backing onto what @Horton said about every skier loads a ski differently, common sense says that short-line skiers at the highest level are putting a lot more load than us recreational skiers. I don't compete but I have regular access to a course. I've used the same high end ski for the last three plus years and I'm not in any hurry to get a new one (this sport is expensive enough as it is). But in a sport where there's constant innovation in the industry, I do sometimes wonder when it's time to start thinking about replacing my "old" but pricey equipment.
  8. We're winterizing the boat tomorrow 😞
  9. @HortonThank you for adding this thoughtful video. It really compliments your original review. I hope it's something you continue to do with future reviews.
  10. If he's on a tight budget that's a great deal to develop his skills on, especially if it comes with the front boot and RTP. If he has a little bigger budget a ski like the Connelly V would be a better fit if he's been skiing on a Senate Alloy.
  11. If you compare trying out wakeboarding/wakesurfing for the first time with slalom skiing for the first time, it's far easier to "look cool" doing the former. @Dano is 100% correct. Slalom skiing is hard. To quote Tom Hanks in a certain movie about girls and baseball, "It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard everyone would do it. The hard... makes it great."
  12. I'd love to try a KD. Never known anyone who had one or even seen one but @Horton gave a good review a few years ago. Doesn't seem to be a common ski in the Pacific NW.
  13. I loved my Connelly F1, but I have no regrets about moving on after years of enjoyment. It could turn on a dime but caused incredible fatigue and soreness. Until I upgraded I thought that was just the norm.
