  1. Quick update. I decided to pull the trigger on a ski for him. I tried buying a used ski (thanks for the offers), but it's a pain in the butt buying used gear across the boarder (we are in Canada). We went with a d3 ion2 - 64" from the local shop. The size should give him time to grow into it, and he seems to be progressing very fast on it. His first time out, he got a PB. After a couple weeks on it, he has ran the course a few times now at 32mph. I will get him to try 22 off to switch it up as well, I like that idea. At the end of the day, I am sure the tra would have been fine still, but I am convinced that the ski has allowed him to progress faster. Thanks for all the suggestions and comments.
  2. Thanks again all for your advice/opinions. I never considered a 65"; so that is an interesting approach. Maybe I will see if i can get him to demo one and go from there.
  3. Thank you for the replies. I guess there will always be different opinions. I won't rush to buy a new one; but keep an eye open for one.
  4. Howdy, I am curious about people's thoughts on a ski recommendation for my son. He is 12 years old and 85lbs. His tournament PB is 2 @ 30mph (15' off), but most practice sets are running at 25mph. He is currently on a 63" TRA. His coach suggested getting a new ski. I did not grow up skiing the course, so i am not sure of the typical progression when it comes to skis. I assumed the ski wouldn't still be holding him back at this point, but curious what more knowledgeable people think. If you think a new ski is a good step forward, I assume a Radar vapor or D3 ion? Thanks!
  5. Hello, I am looking for a trick ski for my kids to learn on. Please let me know if you have one to sell. (We are in Calgary). Thanks!
