  1. i'd say don't forget the mid 90s Malibu's.
  2. @xraydoc if you haven't tried www.themalibucrew.com you might find a better audience there. I am assuming you are looking at an OEM rack vs. an aftermarket one? I think I saw some racks in the classifieds, but not sure if they will fit your tower or not.
  3. I don't know on ballpark (Ill see if I can remember to take a look the next time I see some shorter jumpers). I did this on a set of snow skis for the kids, saw it on a snow forum. Tear off a little steel wool, and push it down a bit in the hole with a tooth pick, then fill with epoxy (JBW). The steel wool gives future screws a bit more purchase. I would bet if you chatted with D3 online, they would do you a solid and tell you their DFT. I was chatting with them about some jumpers, ended up going with stokes, and they were still very gracious after I told them about my direction. I was on an email chain with T Whisper... very cool experience.
  4. Check your battery connections. I had something similar recently. Key on, all gauges worked, fuel pump did its thing, turned the key everything dead. Took me a bit, but tightened the connections and have been all set since.
  5. @sedge, there are probably cheap Toyota Epic molds hanging out behind a barn somewhere you could get for cheap. (nice meeting you this past weekend!)
  6. I'm an OK slalom skier and made the switch 3 years ago. It took a bit to get used to, but I don't even think about it now. I moved to the reflex and RTP (Connelly Sync RTP) because of an unrelated ankle injury, I wouldn't go back. I really like that it will release in a lot more fall cases than when I would come out of my double boot. That would have prevented me getting stitches in my eye lid quite a few years ago... I have yet to have an early release on it.
  7. @MI3Eventer. It has been almost 20 years since it has been used, but I think I might still have most of the parts for an InstaSlalom in my cottage garage. It was used about a half a dozen times, DNR caught wind of it after the jet skiers found it, and I didn't take the time to try to get a permit for it. If you want, I can try to dig it up. IIRC, everything (minus bouys) is there and working.
  8. @ETskier the only one I know of is on Silver , a bit south and west of Traverse, maybe 10 minutes. I skied it a few years ago. It sits in a nice protected cove. I think there is public launch there. @Hofftoski I’m up there every 2-3 weekends and hopefully for a couple of full weeks, maybe 2 full weeks in August. I have an older LSV that skis pretty well. PM me if you are interested in connecting, or grabbing a barley pop at the Dockside or Shorts!
  9. Most of us that are down state consider “up north” anything north of Cadillac.
  10. We are on Bellaire. No course, but during the week it is skiable until noon. A few years ago there was a course on Elk, but I don’t think it is there.
  11. I’ve been chatting with Liz and Alan at Forest Lake. We don’t have anything set in stone, but I’d be up for “sharing” sets or figuring out a day/night to head down. I’ll only be jumping, but I’d bet we could make something work for slalom as well. PM me if you want to try to coordinate something. Thanks!!!
  12. No kidding, it’s pretty awesome.
  13. @Deanoski Im not even sure how to get a hold of Ron. Last I heard/read he had a big backlog and the website isn’t even registered. I’m pulling the trigger on some Stokes on Monday. D3 responded fast and bounced some questions off Freddy. that experience was great, which made the decision more difficult. I’m West MI, and most people are on D3s, and I’ve seen a few Goodmans around. If I can, I’ll see about swapping some skis around and throw some feedback on here. My gut was telling me Stokes, and Tom called me on a Sat afternoon to tell me about their skis and story, which was pretty awesome.
  14. @Horton Thanks! @Cooper_Trelawney - I think there might be some additional show ski manufacturers, but for 3 event jump, i believe that’s it…
  15. I’m getting ready to buy a set of jumpers. I’m leaning one way, but I’d like to get some input if someone has information that would help. If anyone has thoughts, they would definitely be appreciated!!! Thanks all.
  16. @CASAREJA do you know if the course is out this year? Thanks!
  17. @Alberto Soares were you able to test out some different configurations for the tabs? I am thinking about pulling the trigger here soon.
  18. Holy great stuff. I wasn’t expecting this much response, and great ideas. Makes me wonder how many boats out there would benefit from some tinkering. I too am going through some weight reduction exercises, starting with the tower.
  19. I have a 2013 VTX (diamond hull) and am contemplating putting on some trim tabs. Open water skiing, 32/34 @ 14.25. This is in an effort to make a few changes to get the best slalom wake I can. I wanted a TXi, but the wife wouldn’t go for the DD layout. I’ve taken a look at a couple of sites including this one and have seen some pretty good posts, and they seem to somewhat agree that lifting the stern a bit provides a better wake. It seems that the “wake” oriented boats have the single center tab, but having the power wedge would limit the size of a center mounted tab, if it could be done. There are some good kits, but before I go and start drilling into the hull, I wanted to see if anyone had any experience putting two tabs and having a better slalom wake. Additionally, any thoughts on how much the shape and size of the tabs would make a difference? I know some of the aftermarket surf tab guys ran through a ton of prototypes. FWIIW this kit has caught my eye, but I might try to buy it without the tabs so I can experiment a bit. https://www.imarineusa.com/BennettTrimTabsM120ATP.aspx?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyfDOiNvl5AIVF73sCh28rAA3EAQYByABEgKaPPD_BwE
  20. I thought about this during the years when I competed in college, but ended up justifying it with, "if turn-in/1 is offside, then 5-6 is onside". I know for a fact if, 5-6 was on my offside I would have not made the pass on plenty of occasions. If I was somewhat late to 5, I was usually able to "pull my guts out", and make it around 6, and back through the gates... but there were also plenty of "too late to 6" scenarios where I didn't even try to get back to the gates. It would be interesting to see though!
  21. I'm not a great skier, skied the course @ '15 off 32/34/36 quite a few years ago, and only free ski now. I had a pretty bad ankle injury last year, so I am going to try switching feet (from LFF to RFF). I learned to slalom LFF, right handed, right foot/leg is definitely dominant (a bit stronger, and most certainly better balance), skateboard LFF, snowboard/surf RFF, golf right, hockey stick left, etc. So I am hoping RFF won't be too bad. new ski set up should be here next week, and the boat comes out in early May, so we will see... Ill try to remember to update, and take some videos (as requested on other threads).
