  2. WO2 Large @ 32mph: Recommendations on initial set up? 165lbs. 6’. I’m fairly consistent through 35off. Rarely run 38 in practice these days. Tournament avg 3.5@38. Start at factory settings or something different for 32mph? I wish the mfgs would follow the lead of Denali by testing and publishing recommended settings(ranges) at 52,55, and 58K.

  5. @AdamCord I'm on a small C85. Thinking of trying the CG classic (+ regular wing) instead of the CG fin. Any fin setting recommendations for the classic? Presumably "Mount[ing] your new CG Classic with your same settings" doesn't work if fin being replaced is a CG fin. Thanks in advance for the guidance.

    "Coming Soon" I hate to be the first to ask, but... how soon? Will the new stick from Denali be available in advance of the 2021 tournament season or sometime later? Thanks for providing a bit more on this.
  10. Wim DeCree is/was one of the notable non-compliant rebels. And I'm pretty sure that SCoke, who made the change from "wrong' to " right" and adding some buoys to his PB, maintains a list of bass ackward handle holders who have run 38 in a record tournament. There were maybe 9 on that list. It might have been just 34mph skiers on that list. I hope he pipes up here.

Haven’t you already explained the dynamic result of skiing in a stacked position (in two sentences): This position greatly improves cross-course acceleration and increases the speed at the course center-line. With this high speed and reduced load, the skier will be able to transition to the turning edge much earlier and more easily, with ample energy to achieve the primary objective of taking the handle as high on the boat as possible as fast as possible.

  13. Jamie Whincup. Maybe I'm mis-remembering this and some of the Ozzie ballers on BOS can add to this, but I remember Jamie Whincup skiing in a slalom course for the first time in Korowa, NSW at a site just off the Murray River and running 22off. This was in the early 2000s and was hard to believe. At the time, Jamie was maybe 19 and had just been signed to race the V8 Supercars in Australia. Since then, he's had 122 V8 Supercar wins and won the Drivers' Championship 7 times. Proof that race drivers are indeed real athletes. Downunder, Jamie is quite well known admired.

  15. @dysco. No worries. You asked about “your” photos. Just wanted to make sure you knew the series of photos are not mine and the best person to answer your question is the skier in the photos. My own view is that the timing of moving from edge to flat to edge through CL depends on the angle achieved off the buoy and the speed achieved into CL. The higher the speed — the earlier the transition.... My two cents.
  16. @dysco. The skier in the series of pictures is @adamcaldwell — the best 55k/34mph baller in the world. His views and technique recommendations are based on solid scientific principles which he has incorporated into his own skiing. He’s been gracious in sharing his views with us here. In this series of photos, he demonstrates what he preaches on striving to stand tall pushing away from the ski through centerline; initiating the transition; raising COM; and, keeping leading elbow connected to leading hip off the Second wake to to get up on the boat quickly. I think he does this better than anyone out there and this is reflected in his scores. Do what he says. Practice these moves. And make big spray....
  17. @Than_Bogan, maybe @adamcord or @adamcaldwell can let us know what the new settings represent. I agree with your point about the broad range of settings that seem to work well. But the new numbers are not within the already broad ranges that have been posted. And the new numbers for F boot setting @ 28.25 caught my attention as a rather significant change from what has been posted in the past. So I'm hoping that one of the overworked, underappreciated and exceedingly talented (and overly generous with their time) Adams' can enlighten us on these newly posted settings.
  18. What is the story on the new 2021 c75 set up guide posted on the Denali website. Do these numbers represent your most recent suggestions on all c75s or do they relate solely to 2021 skis with the new flex layup? They are quite a bit different from anything I’ve seen published previously.
  19. @adamcaldwell For those who are riding c-75’s without the re-configured layups, how would you describe the now “old flex” for each size of ski (S,M,L). Better yet, what are the flex numbers for each size of ski compared to the new flex numbers that will be available for each size.
  20. @adamcord, @adamhcaldwell Your contributions to the Connection as Swing thread in BoS do a superb job explaining the mechanics of the theory you've outlined in GUT 101-104. I would not describe the GUT pieces as "too abstract". However, the videos, photos and detailed descriptions you two have posted and explained here demonstrate the theories vividly and really bring your theories to life (your partners' incredible 2019 tournament scores have helped a bit too!) Caldwell's most recent posting here on maintaining torsional stability through CL so the lower body (and ski) begin an early rotation with the upper body -- is most illuminating (can this be described as -- staying on axis with the ski through the transition?). So, yes, having a GUT 105 or 106 write up to review periodically (before muscle memory takes over) -- with the mechanics neatly described and packaged -- would be priceless. I sincerely hope you two make the time to finish what you started with your initial GUT pieces.
  21. Depends where the fat is located. Some have predicted dramatic improvement in my skiing with loss of the 20-30 pounds of ugly fat that sits above and between my shoulders. Loss of belly fat -- not so much.

  23. I was working in and traveling throughout Asia in the early 2000's. The SARS outbreak was during my stint in Asia. The frenzy caused by SARS and the fear people had about the virus was simply incredible. The problem was exacerbated by the PRC's failed effort to control media coverage for months after the problem developed within the PRC -- leading to high levels of uncertainty and distrust about about SARS related morbidity and mortality reports. On one occasion, upon arrival at the airport in Manila, I found myself in a huge line of arriving international passengers (maybe 20 lines with 75-100 in each line). Everyone was getting assessed for symptoms with temps taking before allowed entry. While in line, this poor young woman coughed, maybe twice. What followed was a mad panic with military personnel running in to grab this woman while everyone in line starting running and tripping over each other trying to get as far as they could from her. It was totally insane.
  24. @adamchaldwell Thanks, for the add'l video and for highlighting (again) the importance of elevating handle and COM through CL to unweight the ski when making "the move" resulting in ideal up-swing (not out-swing) and yaw rotation towards the buoy. The video shows this well. Very helpful. The light bulb went off and the bells rang when I saw these slow mo videos and your reminder above. That did it for me. I know you and Cord have already addressed this earlier in the thread, but If you two have any additional thoughts on what specific actions you focus on to make this happen consistently -- every ball -- every pass -- let us know.
