  1. @SkiSlipper67 here is an update on the misadventures of the Wednesday night crew. After our departure from Bow lake we decided to ski a different lake each Wednesday. Started off in Whatcom county skiing lake Samish and lake Whatcom. Moved to our home county Skagit and skied Baker lake lake Shannon and lake Cavanaugh and also skied 4 lakes in one day Lake Erie lake Campbell Big lake and Clear lake. We usually ski either Big lake or Clear lake since they are close by. Next we moved south to Snohomish county and skied lake Shoecraft with Dr Stacy who provided his boat and portable course👍Lake Goodwin lake Stevens and the Snohomish river with it’s strong current and many deadheads☹️ Our final county was farther south King county where we skied lake Sammamish and finally had probably the best day of all skiing lake Washington where we launched at the north end in Kenmore and skied south toward Renton circling Mercer Island and going thru the Mountlake cut into lake Union where we couldn’t ski because of the 7 mph limit but we cruised all the way to the Ballard locks seeing all the working boats tied up on either side we all called this an epic ski adventure. As @Rednucleus stated last year my wife and I were able to buy an unfinished house on lake Curlew. This past year we have been finishing it and as of now it is very livable with a few projects left like installing my boat lift for my new to me one owner like brand new 2001 Malibu Sportster @Rednucleus and his wife Loni spent a week with us this past summer skiing hanging out going to the Republic brewery and have some great meals. He also helped me complete some projects to make the house more livable because as Red Green says “if your wife doesn’t find you handsome she better find you handy”🤣 We also had a special guest this summer. @S1Pitts made the short drive across the border from Canada with his wife and spent the day skiing with us. Good day had by all and we look forward to him joining us again Lake Curlew is know as a “fishing lake” but my wife and I will try our best along with the rest of the Wednesday night crew to make it a “ski lake” the water is usually calm and very warm in the summer . Winter sets in early November with the lake freezing solid til April early May. Temps in the winter get down to minus teens and below Sorry for the long winded post haven’t been here for quite some time. The Wednesday night crew is still active just not as much as Doug is very busy with his business Ken taking care of his mom and @Rednucleus still doing vet things. Me I am retiring next year so will have all kinds of time Stay tuned for more adventures 😜
  2. Contact @Rednucleus he skies at Hilltop every Saturday and Sunday morning.
  3. After some unforeseen events ( broken ribs, crazy work schedules, too few employees, foot surgery, etc ) and some very bad weather ( tremendous amount of rain, heavy snow fall and extreme cold) the Wednesday night crew along with the wives got together for a “return to skiing kickoff dinner” of smoked turkey, green beams, roasted potatoes, spaghetti squash and cornbread and honey preceded by an assortment of appetizers and followed up with a gluten free chocolate peanut butter pie with ice cream. And yes we had some of @Rednucleus scotch selections along with some homemade apple brandy and some home made peach/cinnamon moonshine. So great to be able to share a meal and fellowship with such a great group of friends. We are planning on more ski trips to various lakes and rivers again this year highlighted by our annual week at lake Curlew this August. Just need @Rednucleus to join us more often not the same without you! Went out Sunday to Big lake for a pre Super Bowl ski. Sun was out and the air was a comfortable 53 while the water was in the mid 40’s. Water conditions were great to start enabling Doug to long line barefoot. Only boat on the lake except for one small boat fishing and one kayak. Looking forward to another season of skiing adventures. Stay tuned
  4. @Rs350zak like @Rednucleus said I have had both knees done one in 2014 the other in 2016. My Dr told me I would be able to ski again with no worries. All I had to do was some serious PT every day for 2 1/2 months to get back on the lake. Rode a stationary bike a bunch along with lots of strengthening exercises. Before I was in constant pain after no pain at all. Best decision I ever made it have me back my active lifestyle back without having to be in pain. Do some research find a Dr who is a sports guy and go for it you won’t regret it! When I ski I never worry about my knees I just go out and ski. Good luck ?
  5. @chrislandy the lack of changing your steering cable with 2300 hrs got you close but not changing your impeller put you over the top. You are the first receipent of the new updated lake Curlew panda from the Wednesday night crew ????
  6. @Rednucleus not sure but with 1100 hrs on the 98 sportster I would guess yes. Changed mine last year with around 500 hrs on the sunsetter lxi because the steering became quite stiff made a world of difference ?
  7. @ALPJr sorry Wednesday was our last day at lake Curlew and we only skied one set in the am before packing up and heading home. 3 out of 4 of us went back to work Thursday (lucky Ken) we are planning on going back in September so look for another thread then?
  8. Here is a picture of a double rainbow as seen from our deck on our last night at lake Curlew. We will ski tomorrow am then back to reality
  9. The Wednesday night crew went to visit our lake Curlew panda today. Be warned fellow ballers if you step out of line this is what you have coming????
  10. Another great day of skiing for the Wednesday night crew. Had a before breakfast session and an after breakfast session today followed by some kayaking and then a bike ride on the near by trail. Tonight’s dinner was one of our all time favorites tongue tacos, enchilada casserole, guacamole, pico de gallo and finished things off with homemade vanilla ice cream. More skiing and eating to come tomorrow ?
  11. After a night of thunder and lightning and heavy rain things finally cleared up for us to get in a morning ski. Now we are taking a breakfast break scrambled eggs hash browns bacon fruit and the last of the blueberry coffee cake
  12. Here is a picture from our deck looking down the lake this evening. Perfect ski water?
  13. Today was an eventful day for the Wednesday. We skied in the am went on a horse trail ride mid morning at a local ranch came back to the lake for some more afternoon skiing and finished off the evening with Ken’s ribs for dinner along with quinoa salad potato salad pineapple and green salad and to finish things off homemade vanilla ice cream with Spanish peanuts and chocolate sauce. Another great day spent with good friends!
  14. Here is another picture on the lake at 6 am today
  15. @S1Pitts yes it is and you would more then welcome to come join us! Just remember to bring your appetite along with your ski? we are also hoping the boarder opens back up because we would like to ski lake Shuswap sometime
  16. After our first full day at lake Curlew tonight’s dinner was stuffed flank steak, asparagus, Dijon mustard potatoes and home made rocky road ice cream
  17. Here is a picture of the lake at 6 am and a picture of the house we are staying in. Doesn’t get any better then this!
  18. Yes we are back in full force for our annual lake Curlew trip. We even got @Rednucleus to join us along with our wives. Rolled in yesterday afternoon and the water was perfect for some free skiing. Had a simple dinner of bbq hamburgers, fries, onion rings, potato salad and all kinds of cookies for dessert. Up early this am for a 6:30 barefoot run by Doug and some free skiing by me. Trying to get Ken and @Rednucleus to join us but both needed more coffee☹️ Much more skiing and eating to come so stay tuned?
  19. As promised the Wednesday night crew took our show on the road to lake Sammamish yesterday minus @Rednucleus who will join us in 2 weeks for our annual lake Curlew trip. We had great weather not a cloud in the sky temp high 70’s to low 80’s and water conditions were excellent. We even found a course at the north end of the very large lake so we chased some bouys for awhile to break up our free skiing marathon. Had a picnic lunch on the water of pickled eggs, oyster shooters, smoked brisket sandwiches, potato salad, coleslaw, chips, strawberries and chocolate chip cookies. What a great day!!! Next week we are returning to lake Cavanaugh to try our luck on find smooth water as we were blown out on our last trip. Stay tuned?
  20. So the Wednesday night crew minus @Rednucleus who was doing vet things changed things up this week. Instead of skiing lake Sammamish as promised we decided to stay local as the weather didn’t look good enough for a road trip. We skied 4 different lakes Wednesday. Started with Lake Erie a small lake near Anacortes that was long enough for 12 turns each way. Moved to Campbell lake ( the lake with the big island in the middle) next. Much bigger Stopped at Bastion brewery for lunch where we tried their BBQ. Had ribs, brisket, pulled pork and smoked turkey along with collard greens, coleslaw, fries and corn muffins with honey butter and of course beer Next up was Big lake where we skied til a bunch of other boats showed up Moved to Clear lake where we were the only boat on the lake and had excellent water conditions. Doug was finally able to do some footin We also saw a different pair of bald eagles at each lake! Another epic adventure! Next week the weather looks good so we will make our trip to lake Sammamish as promised. Stay tuned
  21. @Rednucleus the only problem with your plan is getting Ken out of bed that early. You know how those “retired” guys are ???
  22. Well after skiing Big lake last week without much fan fare 3/4 of the Wednesday night crew ventured to lake Cavanaugh today (no @Rednucleus ☹️) we were met with some great scenery, snow on the hills above the lake and blustery winds making for a poor day of skiing☹️ We decided to cut our losses and headed home early but will try this lake again sometime in the future as it looks like a great place to ski with the right water conditions. Stopped by Big lake on the way home and found water conditions no better so called it a day. Next week we are planning to try lake Samamish if we can make it through the traffic to get there. Wish us luck and stay tuned
  23. @Rednucleus i guess you would have had to have lived through the experience to really appreciate the event. Can still remember being in school in Pullman and the sky getting dark at noon. What a crazy time it was. Thanks for the bump. Less than a month til our lake Curlew trip! Starting to get jazzed for that week of skiing food and fellowship!
  24. @dchristman no not even a wafer-thin mint. Couldn’t eat another bite?? reminded me of our Wednesday night dinners at Bow lake where we would eat til we were “tired” ?
