  1. My understanding of the legal agreement was PerfectPass would not sell to new boats with an Econtrols ECM. The PerfectPass DBW system works with GM Delco MEFI4 ECMs, pre 2009 Econtrol ECMs and any ECM that accepts an analog control input including Yamaha jet boats and some Yamaha outboards. A responsive boat with PP and the Zbox perhaps could be as close to a 2024 ProStar as a 2024 SN 200 is.
  2. Apparently PerfectPass has had enough requests from time to time to support the paddle wheel sensor that they have an up to date version available on request that supports both the GPS and the paddle wheel inputs. In a speed based mode you can select either the paddle wheel or the GPS as the speed measurement source. Contact them for more information.
  3. I believe that the PerfectPass system that J-Craft is using is plug and play on the Yamaha VMAX outboards.
  4. Marine Railway alternative.
  5. Contact PerfectPass, the last time I talked to them the new GPS system could use either GPS or the paddlewheel for the speed input.
  6. The PP installation is a simple plug-and-play, drive by wire setup new e-throttle Yamaha outboards, all of the components are standard PP parts.
  7. Normally if the little circlip is removed ( don’t loose it ) and the rod connected to the vacuum diaphragm is slipped off of the secondary bell crank the spring and off center butterflies will keep the secondaries constantly closed.
  8. Typically the linkage between the primaries and vacuum secondaries is a sliding rod in a slot, at idle the secondaries are forced to close when the primaries fully close. Otherwise the secondaries are controlled by the air flow through the primaries and some sensing the air flow to the secondaries, to add complication there is also a check valve and bleed port. Thus when PP wants less throttle the vacuum secondaries do not close in lock step with the primaries.
  9. What is the status of your secondaries, still vacuum operated? Remember PerfectPass can only control the primaries, normally you do not need the secondaries for pulling slalom and can be disconnected from the bellows, once opened even a little they are somewhat slow to close.
  10. This sounds like an installation problem. See PerfectPass website, Support, StarGazer Installation Instructions, Inboard Mechanical, Figure C. With key OFF, manual throttle in Neutral turn the black servo knob counterclockwise approx 3/4 of a turn. As in Figure C there should be NO gap between the long brass hex on the manual throttle cable and the end of the threaded servo cable adjuster. If there is a gap move the two 10 mm nuts on the adjuster until there is no gap. Tighten the servo knob clockwise fully, then loosen it a bit, there should be no movement of the engine throttle arm. While in Neutral the manual throttle cable keeps the throttle arm pressed against the idle stop and when the servo motor autotightens during power up it cannot move the engine throttle arm.
  11. Sorry to hear about your dad. I chatted with him at several different Nationals, he was always friendly, always enthusiastic. He thought that we might be distant relatives.
  12. Contact PerfectPass for ZO compatible pucks.
  13. Per PerfectPass: The two puck ZO system and PP both use the same Garmin GPS18x-5Hz sensors, this year these pucks suffered from the WNRO GPS week count issue, this primarily affected the warm start delay but may affect new satellite detection. All these sensors with serial numbers beginning with 19P can be upgraded to Garmin internal software version 4.2 to overcome this issue. PP is upgrading any of their own pucks for free but I think they can do ZO pucks also or you could get the upgrade off the Garmin site and do it yourself.
  14. I upgraded my 2003 SN last month to 9.20, in GPS Slalom the cursor rests on the setpoint speed so the UP or DOWN keys immediately change the speed by one standard step i.e. from 32.3 mph (52 kph) to 34.2 (55) with one press. In Practice mode it sits on Fine Adjust and each press gives you a 0.1 mph change and one MENU press takes you to the standard setpoint change.

    Path Deviation

If a deviation measurement exceeds 20 cm it becomes a white value on a black background, pressing the UP key switches over to display the cumulative values, again becoming white on black numbers if the individual cumulative tolerances were exceeded. It had a tournament mode to automatically switch to cumulative mode if any were out of tolerance. It stores in memory the previous 30 passes each time stamped at the entrance gate.

    Path Deviation

This was being tested at Jack’s earlier this month, measurements are in cm .
