  1. This actually my exact situation. Love a good trick boat (I know strange) but 07-08 MCs (and malibu) unless they already have ZO are basically impossible to convert at a reasonable price. I know resale wise a 08 ZO 196 will be better then a 08 perfect pass 197.
  2. So 10 years after the thread started, 3 years from the last bump ZO 196s are still mid to high 20s. Is this a reflection of less and less ski boats being made? Less new/used boats hitting the market and the price differential to upgrade has only increased so is the 196 worth keeping? will the depreciation start? I know boats sales are way down but 196s seem to still move in that 25-30k range or is it just a darn good boat that will always be desired?
  3. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQyMw13LSiz/ As an alumni who was involved in the previous boat purchase. Very proud of the team. Saw the boat on the water for the first time last night and it looks even better in person. Very proud of the progress over the last 10years. @Horton think this may have been your promo CP.
  4. Still going in southern wi. Water temp is around 45, 70s projected for air temp this weekend!!! I have had about 8 last sets. Few days of cold, then the weather turns nice and we go again!
  5. @UWSkier could you share how you made your connector and how you got the software? I have a 1998 response with the hammerhead 365 and would be very interested in how my boat compares to yours.
  6. Looks like it came out a little early
  7. @Marco I bought a 1998 response equipped identically to yours except for Zbox (still had stargazer). I purchased it at 1000hr for under 11k just over a year ago. It has the hammerhead 365 so some will argue that it isn’t as good as a motor as what your boat has. I would be prepared to sit on it. The guy I purchased from had it forsale for over 3months. The hours really scare people. We have 72hrs on it from purchase with only minor tune up items required. If you want a fast sale I think you will have to settle for around 12k. Prices do seem to be higher this year than last year. Wishing you luck on the sale!
  8. @BrennanKMN any idea what the cost of a swap is? The 8.1 made comparable torque and horsepower to the same vintage duramax. Would be a cool option if the 8.1 had a major problem. The 8.1 other then minor oil consumption are pretty reliable motors. The transmission on the other hand is So/so in the avalanche/suburban.
  9. @Jody_Seal I use a 2500 avalanche with the 8.1l it has incredible towing ability and incredibly low fuel economy!
  10. I would agree with @Ski_Dad . I personally own a 98 response lx and absolutely love it, great all around boat. The brakish water is concerning. I wouldn’t normally worry about 900hrs but if it has been in salt I would avoid.
  11. What is your ski ability level ? Is the goal to go out and chase buoys at 35 off? The 197 and x7 are virtually the same boat. They run on the same hull. The x7 has built in ballast. The boat in your link is a X9 which is a larger boat, you will be sacrificing slalom wakes if you go with the x9. I personally love the look of a 197 with the Mastercraft mini towers.
  12. So as I sit at my computer at work I have two separate live streams going. One of three event nationals and one of show ski nationals. When the thought came to me, why do these events occur on the same weekend? This also happens with Wisconsin 3-event state and Wisconsin show ski state. Why are we forcing skiers to choose between one or the other? I realize the overlap between 3 event and show skiing may not be huge but it definitely exists. Both have to be members of USA waterski, why not let the select few who do both get the most out of there membership. Having them on two separate weekends in my opinion would help the attendance of both events. Not having to choose between what tournament to attend could be a huge growth factor. A good flip trick pass at a 3 event tournament is still a good trick pass at a show ski tournament. If anyone has any input on why these events often end up being the same weekend please share. I just find it silly that two major ski events are held at the exact same time.
  13. 235 days post incident my foot looks very similar to @foxriverat . I am hoping that it will not have to big of a affec on the season. Wisconsin lakes are starting to open up, hoping to test it soon. I have gotten a few suggestions to superglue over the scar to help with pain and reinjuring.
  14. I was on at 10am and it was working. went back on to reread some info on a boat and it was down at 2pm. no idea why, hopefully it will be back soon.
  15. @foxriverat my guess is my foot will look like that eventually. The burn is also on my heal, luckily I don't need to walk much at work. I will never do a distance race again but would still enjoy front barefooting. did you have any issues footing after the injury?
  16. Has anyone experienced burning a hole in their foot from barefooting? I participated in a barefoot relay race and up until this event I had only heard rumors of this happening. Well let me tell you it is VERY possible! I am coming up on 55 days post injury with the remints of a very deep hole still in my foot. ( It started as a blister and turned into a crater). I was wondering if any ballers out there have experienced this injury and how long it has taken you or someone you know to recover from this injury. Are there any long term effects I should be worried about?
  17. @eleeski I think university relations as whole could improve but I don't see that happening. With waterskiing being such a different sport compared to the traditional ball sports every bit of funding we received has helped. I graduated from the university of Wisconsin Madison which has 4.3 miles of shoreline on lake Mendota, We couldn't even get access to a dock or lift, even offering to purchase our own to use on campus. Thankfully we found a generous family that lets us store the team boat on lake Monona (1 mile from campus) which has a slalom course and a show ski jump. Anyway we can leverage money from the university for exampling claiming to be D2 national champions instead of 11th place D1 helps keep our cost down. My senior year we put 330 hours on the team Mastercraft (which is club owned with no help from the university) in 5 months. Without the little money from the university we receive practice would have been much more limited based on just the cost of fuel.
  18. @BoneHead and @jeffSurdej I know I would never have told someone to miss a jump or purposely fall on an opening pass. But when we have 3-5 show skiers that all can land jumps and one of them jumping far enough to podium (like she did the last two weekends), but they all want to go to a football game instead of a ski tournament we wouldn't put the pressure on them to come to a earlier tournament knowing that they would come to regionals. @walleye I am pretty sure they give every team a trophy, the banquet was a little fuzzy last year. any one that goes to the nationals banquet and sees the Midwest skiers will understand what I mean. As much as this pains me to say as someone who has a deep hatred for OSU and who has lost to OSU two years in a row at regionals I also agree with @bbrannan and @OSUwaterskier
  19. @Broussard the Midwest also struggles with the football and fraternity issues. We also receive little to no university support (like under $2,000 a year) and your club is often fighting against other club sports to receive the limited funding from the university and I know they reward being successful. I have tried (unsuccessfully) to explain to several different school officials that a Midwest team skiing against ull or ulm would be like the club basketball team playing against LeBron James and the Lakers. It is what it is and as an alumni now I know the skiers will have just as much fun on and off the water no mater what division they are placed in and that's all that really matters.
  20. @broussard I don't disagree. I skied in D1 nationals last year and had an absolute blast but as a former leader on my team I know for a fact we could have leveraged more money out of our university with a D2 national championship than we could taking 7th-12th in D1. Building the team is essential to consistently have competitive teams every year. But with the lack of 3 events lakes in the Midwest near universities, I believe the only reason many Wisconsin schools survive is the inflow of show skiers who are comfortable on the water and learn how to 3-event ski. I don't know much about texas's turnaround from 9th in D2 to to taking 7th In D1 but I do know that they can train all school year unlike the Midwest. Unfortunately we have water temps under 55 already and only going to continue to drop. Thanks for the input @broussard just trying to see how people would feel about this.
  21. I know a lot of ballers are collegiate skiers (Ex, current, or somehow connected to the world of collegiate 3-event) I was just curious on what the thoughts are on splitting Nationals into three divisions to keep things more competitive. As a Midwest skier the most frustrating part in my opinion is being on the bubble of D1 and D2. If you Go D1 its basically try not to get last, If you go D2 you are in the top 3 seeds typically with a good shot at winning. So I am looking for opinions on going to three divisions. Having the exact same amount of teams go (8-8-8 instead of 12-12). With the wild card show last night the divisions have been announced and a prime example is UW LAX who took 3rd in there region and went D1 and have no chance in my opinion placing any higher than 9th with all of them skiing PBs. If they went D2 they would have a good chance at winning, not an easy win but would keep the skiers competitive as a team. Now it is fun to have your 5th round slalom skier have to clarify with the boat crew that they want 32mph not 32 off as the top seeds in d1 are all starting there or shorter it does lower the drive for some of the lower seeds to ski at there best ability. Just looking for thoughts Pros and Cons of this.
  22. Love my carbon V, started on the regular V a few years back when I was learning to run the course and recently switched to the carbon V. Agree with everyone above me. it is a great 34mph and under ski.
  23. I am in the exact same boat as you, I wear 9.5 shoes. So on my trick I run a medium sync without the elastic laces because I like to run that as tight as possible and have only released once. On my slalom I run double syncs both in large and I am very happy I am running a large on that. I have ejected on some OTFs that if I would have been in a medium I'm confident I wouldn't have released and injury probably would have occurred.
