  1. This actually my exact situation. Love a good trick boat (I know strange) but 07-08 MCs (and malibu) unless they already have ZO are basically impossible to convert at a reasonable price. I know resale wise a 08 ZO 196 will be better then a 08 perfect pass 197.
  2. So 10 years after the thread started, 3 years from the last bump ZO 196s are still mid to high 20s. Is this a reflection of less and less ski boats being made? Less new/used boats hitting the market and the price differential to upgrade has only increased so is the 196 worth keeping? will the depreciation start? I know boats sales are way down but 196s seem to still move in that 25-30k range or is it just a darn good boat that will always be desired?
  3. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQyMw13LSiz/ As an alumni who was involved in the previous boat purchase. Very proud of the team. Saw the boat on the water for the first time last night and it looks even better in person. Very proud of the progress over the last 10years. @Horton think this may have been your promo CP.
  4. Still going in southern wi. Water temp is around 45, 70s projected for air temp this weekend!!! I have had about 8 last sets. Few days of cold, then the weather turns nice and we go again!
  5. @UWSkier could you share how you made your connector and how you got the software? I have a 1998 response with the hammerhead 365 and would be very interested in how my boat compares to yours.
  6. Looks like it came out a little early
  7. @Marco I bought a 1998 response equipped identically to yours except for Zbox (still had stargazer). I purchased it at 1000hr for under 11k just over a year ago. It has the hammerhead 365 so some will argue that it isn’t as good as a motor as what your boat has. I would be prepared to sit on it. The guy I purchased from had it forsale for over 3months. The hours really scare people. We have 72hrs on it from purchase with only minor tune up items required. If you want a fast sale I think you will have to settle for around 12k. Prices do seem to be higher this year than last year. Wishing you luck on the sale!
  8. @BrennanKMN any idea what the cost of a swap is? The 8.1 made comparable torque and horsepower to the same vintage duramax. Would be a cool option if the 8.1 had a major problem. The 8.1 other then minor oil consumption are pretty reliable motors. The transmission on the other hand is So/so in the avalanche/suburban.
  9. @Jody_Seal I use a 2500 avalanche with the 8.1l it has incredible towing ability and incredibly low fuel economy!
  10. I would agree with @Ski_Dad . I personally own a 98 response lx and absolutely love it, great all around boat. The brakish water is concerning. I wouldn’t normally worry about 900hrs but if it has been in salt I would avoid.
  11. What is your ski ability level ? Is the goal to go out and chase buoys at 35 off? The 197 and x7 are virtually the same boat. They run on the same hull. The x7 has built in ballast. The boat in your link is a X9 which is a larger boat, you will be sacrificing slalom wakes if you go with the x9. I personally love the look of a 197 with the Mastercraft mini towers.
  12. So as I sit at my computer at work I have two separate live streams going. One of three event nationals and one of show ski nationals. When the thought came to me, why do these events occur on the same weekend? This also happens with Wisconsin 3-event state and Wisconsin show ski state. Why are we forcing skiers to choose between one or the other? I realize the overlap between 3 event and show skiing may not be huge but it definitely exists. Both have to be members of USA waterski, why not let the select few who do both get the most out of there membership. Having them on two separate weekends in my opinion would help the attendance of both events. Not having to choose between what tournament to attend could be a huge growth factor. A good flip trick pass at a 3 event tournament is still a good trick pass at a show ski tournament. If anyone has any input on why these events often end up being the same weekend please share. I just find it silly that two major ski events are held at the exact same time.
  13. 235 days post incident my foot looks very similar to @foxriverat . I am hoping that it will not have to big of a affec on the season. Wisconsin lakes are starting to open up, hoping to test it soon. I have gotten a few suggestions to superglue over the scar to help with pain and reinjuring.
